DEAD OR ALIVE 7 HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Nothing off value was lost, DOA4 was the last good DOA game imo.

Huh, the actual problem imo with DoA was the same problem as with most fighting games ( which has gotten better in recent years ).
The netcode.
DoA6 actually played really well and made a lot of improvements, it had a really great training mode too with great features.

DOA6 just wasn't fun. It was one of my favorite fighters through DOA4. DOA5 was mostly OK. Too much emphasis on making it a T&A dress up simulator killed it.

The funny thing is that other fighting games have more '' lewd '' default costumes and also sell very similar costumes.
I think people just seriously zero:d in way too much on the '' OMG breast physics '' ( WHICH YOU HAD TO MANUALLY UNLOCK AND ENABLE ) and the existence of DoAX the volleyboll gacha spin-off.
I do think there are some exceptions where it maybe went further especially with characters like Marie and Honoka, but overall it really wasn't anything unusual and it actually had an almost 50/50 split between male and female characters.

With SFM Porn and Blender with all the videogame character you would want, current DOA's existence was just a poverty fighting game that tried to squeeze coomsumers out of everything. Look up sfmcompile, redgifs or lewdninja if youre thirsty for 3D art.

I bought DOA6 deluxe edition at launch thinking it was going to come with more costumes than it did... Boy was I wrong. Shocked and disappointed to see all the $100 passes come out one after the other. Made me feel like I had an incomplete bare bones version of the game even though I paid a hundred bucks. Was hoping they would put out a new one and ditch the stupid separate costume dlc. Street fighter and doa both sucked because they went that route. Two of my favorite game series ruined by greed.

Good...

I mean look at this shit.

Ma92hNc.jpg

461 pieces of DLC on top of a full priced game...

The only game that can compete with this shit is train simulator. This shit used to be unlockable for playing the game...

Right at the top of your picture theres a costume set, if you are part of fashion or alive buy the sets.
But for people who only care about what Helena looks like in a tech suit, they can buy that specific costume, would you rather they force costume sets on people so its all or nothing even if you never want to see Bayman in his underwear?

Think of the DLC as what other games call in-game purchases for skins and shit, instead of having a digital ingame currency that you spend in the in game store DOA just lists the stuff on the platform store at the exact price you would pay....not 1000 bikini bucks for Helenas costume....how much is a bikini buck in dollars? I dont know i have to do math now?....i just want to see some tits fighting.

DOA gets a bad wrap for its DLC but its exactly the same as other games which have in game stores that you spend whatever fake currency the game has decided is used for buying stuff....DOA just isnt trying to be sneaky and they tell you in actual dollars what you are paying for your skin/costume.

P.S DOA costumes is like half the fun of the game, had I the money id be balls deep in all dem costumes.

P.P.S Getting rid of tag was the biggest mistake ever.

P.P.P.S This is what Helena looks like in a tech suit:

Grundle: The Awakening
DOA was such a stagnating series it was sad to see new entries come out and simply be the exact same game yet again, with increasingly terrible monetisation schemes

honestly, anyone interested in the series should just buy DOA3/Ultimate on Xbox One or SX and you're good
Honestly they should port them to other platforms at this point unless MS has rights to them.

It was OMG breast physics and them selling you string bikinis for the women for 97 dollars

Just play DoA 3 + 4 on x360 w/ mClassic.

4 still looks amazing :)

I gotta try it on Ser x to see if there are any improvements.

Speaking of doa3, there's no way to play that game correctly unless you play it on an original Xbox with the original controller to my knowledge. Doa3 had moves that used the pressure sensitive buttons that the Xbox had. So trying to play an updated version will lead to a loss of a bunch of moves smh.

Its funny how once known as a broken, uninspired game known only for its blood and gore, Mortal Kombat is now the only premium fighter left that can churn out sequels with great reception and budget. Tekken 7 barely got funded, same for Street Fighter is SONY didnt jump in, KOF went like a fart in the wind after only 1 month.

Plays with kids toys, in the adult gaming world
Can't really be sad about this

Series peaked with DOA 3

I will say that DOA 6 was a huge step up from 5 (that game looked and played very wrong)

I'm inclined to think the DoA7 project referenced in the initial tweet would have--at its core--essentially been an updated, next-gen version of DoA6. Assuming this was the case, it's potentially understandable why Koei Tecmo killed the project. The question is whether only that particular project got nixed or has the fighting-game version of the series been indefinitely put on ice?

While I admittedly didn't care for almost anything related to the franchise's sixth entry, the game's apparent poor performance in contrast to the success of DoAXVV does leave me worried Koei Tecmo will continue the series only in the form of their PC gacha game and fan merchandise.

Worth mentioning, however, the people over at Free Step Dodge (DoA fansite) have a thread going--with relevant sleuthing, Japanese tweets--suggesting this info is fake. Link for those interested: FSD Thread.

RIP in peace. The gacha seems to be doing well in Japan, so they're probably focusing on that from now on.

I actually love the DOA series and enjoyed DOA6.
wasn't a fan of the £75 season pass.
And I believe there was 7 of them 😳
Greed ruined it sadly

The core fighting was always fantastic, but the games increasingly got more and more greedy. I completely passed on buying 5 and 6 myself from the monetization schemes they enabled. Just played it over at friend's places during fight nights.

Doesn't help that 6 also released with incredibly tone deaf marketing that basically gave the middle finger to long time fans and one of the biggest reasons people loved to play the games: Fanservice.

I think the problem is that the genre hasn’t fundamentally changed since the days of the original Street Fighter.

Hardware generations have come and gone, but it‘s still only about two characters standing in front of each other from a side perspective. The only game that I can think of that ever really tried to do something genuinely new in the genre was Bushido Blade back on PS1. Why has no one else ever tried to do actual 3d movement in a fighting game? Why are these games still so restrictive when it comes to movement and interactivity? Or how about a proper career mode? It’s similar with racing games, though there have at least been some examples that tried to change the traditional formula (like Forza Horizon). Where is the Forza Horizon of fighting games?

I can‘t think of another genre (other than maybe some niche stuff) that has been so resistant to change.

This was most likely a hoax by the way, some people and a few "journalists" that bothered to fact check can't find a record of anyone named Hiroaki Morita having worked at Team Ninja among other sus things.

That said, the series is probably in Ninja Gaiden purgatory after how poorly DOA6 did.

I don't think they will never ever make doa7, my guess is that they put it on pause cause they don't have a vision for now.

I'm sure once SF6, Tekken 8 and VF6 will be there it will give some extra motivation and push Techmo to make and follow with a DOA, but they need to rethink their business model cause it was total disaster the way they did it for doa6.

The Dead or Alive series stopped at 4 anon
I bought 5 and felt ripped off, didn't really touch 6 but the first 4 were my go to fighting games for a long time.

So much amazing stuff they did in those 4 games, it's a shame it had to die the way it did.

This is why you don't let Ninja Dogs program Master Ninja franchises.

MK11 is the best selling MK, Tekken 7 is the best selling Tekken, and SFV sold very well also and other fighting games too, fighting games may not do COD and Fifa numbers but are actually still doing super great.

What news did you find?
"hiroaki morita" has like 4 accounts and never developed a Dead or Alive game or works for Team Ninja

It's ok if forums like this post twitter stuff, but even legit websites are just reposting all that fake shit.

never played these games but it's possible the series isn't dead. they might just have another vision and want to scrap what they were working on. if they were making a lot of money off selling dlc they might be thinking of working on a f2p gacha game. there will be people who love the characters and will be happy to throw money at the chance to get their favourite character and costumes for them :messenger_grinning_sweat:

either way if it's dead or alive i don't really care. but for fans of the series i don't see this as a reason to lose hope.

I'm actually surprised more games haven't aped the catch counter.

Probably the most innovative risk/reward system in fighting games.

It used to be a good fighting game. I'm not really sure what genre I'd call the current on-going business model. Soft core porn?
