This is awesome. PSN+ is such a steal as more stuff trickles down over the weeks, months! COT DAUM.

i got $40 back of actual free games such as stacking. So for the other $10 im getting so many sweet ass content.

Regardless if mosr free games are rented for a year, what other service does that where you can, say rent 12 new games , one each month and keep them till the year is up for $50? None. One rented game for 5~6 days is like $8 or so. You get the point.

anyhow any Live users here can stfu about the service, haters should do the same. I mean $60 for the option to unlock online mode on your games and be able to buy games on sale? Cmon son. (lol if you bring up Spring Sale...)

So you enjoy paying for games that Sony picks for you? No thanks. Would you also pay Netflix $50 a year if they picked the movies you get each month?

I know about the copy-protected saves but why the wording from the PS blog? "most games". They make it sound like final fantasy will work but not battlefield or something. I just hope your right.

Some games have giant saves, hundreds of mega bytes because they contain more than just the save status, but an entire profile full of pictures, videos and stuff. Those games, unless patched likely wont be saveable in cloud. They are simply too big to upload/download regularly for the majority of people on their internet connections.

An example LBP used to do the same. Your save contained your profile, as well as every object you collected or made. So the saves got huge. Then they patched it and now for LBP you have two files, a small save file with your progress and a separate data file with just creations that can get as big as it wants full of pictures, objects and whatnot.

I hope that once we save a game to the cloud it auto syncs the save if locally updated every time it does its midnight auto sync and search for patches. That would make this fantastic.

Why For?

Could I in theory, get 1 month of PS Plus, get my saves on the cloud, let it expire, wait 5 months before the deletion and renew for another month, and just keep that cycle going?

Would be a good way to have the best of both worlds.

Still have the great benefit of cloud saves, but still not pay such a rip off fee for an otherwise pointless service.

they don't offer a month (3 month is the minimum IIRC) plus they say your saves are not "guaranteed" if you cancel your account.

I didn't own too many PSN games before PSN+. So with all the games released for it, I'm loving them. And Sony does have great picks such as Shatter and Lead and Gold which I never bought although GAF hype and since it was offered for free, tried it and love it. So much fun that if it got a PSN+ discount I would buy it to keep forever. Not really necessary since the service is awesome but I like it that much.

So yea I like the by weekly freebies and it has been totally worth it. Also Sam&Max and Stacking are well received games so it's not like Sony is just putting shitty games for you to dl.

The problem with Alot of you is that you pick one thing that you think is wrong and shit onthe whole service. "oh no, 150mb on cloud server! Ew! not worth $50"....-_-

So for me , I got my money back.(not gonna bother posting all free avatars, themes etc) Everything I get is basically free which is awesome. I love getting content every 2 weeks. It's crazy good. The cloud saves is just that other sweet stuff I'm getting plus early MK demo. Feels good man.

3.60 is up

LOL only listed feature is that you can now set the timeout time for your controller.

actually that's kind of useful

Are auto-installs a new feature? I just downloaded the Mortal Kombat demo and it did not require that annoying install in XMB.

Did you background download, or sit there? If it's the former, then yeah I think it's new (or relatively new). If it's that latter, that's how it's worked.

I started the download, walked the dog, came back and it finished downloading and then it said install complete.

Ah, it's always done that since day one of the PS3 as long as it's not background downloaded.

That's normal then. Only when you put it in the background to you have to manually install.

As long as you don't select background download (ie. you instead sat there and let the download complete), it will automatically install for you.

Only background downloads need to be installed manually.

Yep, takes me back to 2006 when I downloaded the MotorStorm demo. Damn that took forever.

:lol

They only added options for 20 and 30 minutes. Awesome update~

oh lame timing, but cool
I spent like 2 days last month fighting to do transfer data and then backup so I can use my big hard drive in the stupid slim I had to buy after my phat stopped reading discs. I'm throwing everything I have into this in case I ever have to do that again.

still a good feature. It was like 5 or maybe 10 minutes before. Really annoying when watching a movie.

Apologies for the excitement. I guess I always do background downloads.
Even BG downloads can be bulk-installed(automatically) at any time - just go to shutdown system and select "shutdown after all downloads completed".
And yes, the option works even when everything is already downloaded, and you only have to install it.

That is the whole problem. Not going to pay for games that I dont get to pick. If you are ok with others picking your games then good for you.

Like I said, you ignore everything the service offers. I'm sure when you pay for Live, you only do it to play online. Lol biggest scam of the century.

Throwin' mah saves to the cloud now. Booyah.

Lots of complainers in here, sheesh.

Wow I wonder if you Debby downers bitch about having to pay for p2p when NXE gets a fricking update.

Jesus fucking christ, here we have Sony offerig Cloud Saves for PS3 which seems like a right step or continuation of their "openness" of their system. Yea it's a perk of their Plus but so what? They offer so many other things for the service and most important it's optional and online remains free for all users. Are you guys saying Cloud saves> free online? Free online is the most important factor, everything else is jelly.

Bitching about 150mb not being enough? The fuck! It's not even launched yet. Try it and then when you really see that you need more, you can post your frustrations. Going out and fucking trying to upload a damn stupid Afrika save to prove your point is stupid. Take a USB is you have a hard on and save it up our ass.

Also PC gamers, specially Steam users....really? More like some still have bitter tears. Let it go, you know what I'm talking about.
Please do tell what Steam users hae bitter tears from.

That's why it's good to start a + subscription if there's something there you really want. Stacking pushed me over the fence, but if I signed up in December I could've had Sam and Max and then Stacking a couple of months later. That's $50 right there.

Plus isn't just about the free games, through. It's the guaranteed early beta access to the biggest PS3 games, free trials to retail games, and great discounts on top of regular PSN discounts.

Does Netflix have every movie ever made available for streaming now or do they give you a selection that you really have no choice of?

Absolutely brilliant! PSN+ continues to pay for itself and then some. Still will backup locally, but this takes a huge amount of anxiety out of the equation. PS Phat owners with copy protected saves must be breathing 12 sighs of relief right now.

I am sorry if my question has been asked 100 times already, but does it constantly keep the chosen saves in sync, or do you need to do reupload constantly?
It's kind of useless (ok, not entirely) if it's the latter, and ridiculously awesome if it's the former.

If I was Sony:

Regular psn members - 150 mb cloud storage
PS+ members - 300 mb cloud storage

i dont know if someone already replied to this but imagine this:

free 150mb cloud
every PS3 owner creates at least 4-5 profiles (for JP/EU store access etc)...
and there are at least 30 million ps3 worldwide....

add it all up

whos gonna pay for all that "free" cloud bandwidth?

I believe its in the OP

This sounds like a great addition to PSN+ members. May have to join up fairly soon after the dust settles...

Yep. Plus it brings nothing to the table for Sony other then the overhead. Its not like they are suddenly going to sell millions of consoles. They are in the business to make money and this is a great way to get people to subscribe and keep them there. Its a solid business decision, like it or not.

I have 46 unique game save files in my cloud right now, some huge (Fallout Vegas is 12mb) some tiny (quite a few at under 150k) and I'm at 121mb free space remaining.

I'd like to see more space, but it's not as big an issue as I thought it would be. Devs just better get a handle on save sizes from now on though.

Yeah, even if they're completely ancillary and for non-save purposes, Sony still have to earmark that space for those accounts, right.
