Battlefield 2042 Already on Steam All-Time Worst Reviewed Games List

You didn't do shit. All I see is a pretty hard damage control over a silly commentary posted without you even thinking about its meaning.

Let me tell you something in case you didn't get what people told you already. It can't be review bomb, because steam reviews are from people who paid for the game. One have to be that stupid to think people pay for a game exclusivelly to "review bomb". Are you telling me this a possibility? Do you have any basis for that?

Do you think there is a parallel universe in which you aren't a moron? I highly doubt it. My original post was very clearly implying that that review bombing was a possibility. Nothing more. Quit whining.

I never, ever thought this was going to be good and my first comment (this will be broken and unbalanced was what I recall) but my favorite is seeing these paid for copr. schills still praising it every day and HAVING to play this POS EVERY day. I love seeing it dying daily, just like most AAA which is basically a copy/paste joke at this time. What a sad state of creativity we are in.

Usually I understand why a game gets review bombed but I just don't understand it with 2042. It's actually a pretty great time. I've been playing on PS5 for the last few days and aside from bugs it's absolutely not the dumpster fire that all this press would have you believe.

Note, I am not a Battlefield purist. This is my first Battlefield game since BC2 in fact, so maybe I'm just not as bitter about the franchise as most.

I actually think the package they've delivered is pretty substantial for the price and the on the ground chaos in modes like Breakthrough is unlike anything else on the market. On top of that, the PS5 performance is rock solid compared to the Beta which was really rough, I didn't expect such an improvement between then and now.

So yeah maybe I'm just not aware of some of the deeper issues that the die hard community is complaining about but for me who is returning to the franchise after 10 years, I'm actually having a blast.

Sorry dude, he got you. He's 100% right. Maybe try responding to what he said.

The problem is the fault of the players themselves, who buy and accept whatever garbage they throw.

Now they spread crumbs to the pigs, who will keep buying. This happens with any large company, it is rare to see one that has good quality and care for decades.

But the pigs are waking up, thank goodness!

I said it's possible it's just a review bomb which is a known thing that has occurred. He's not right. You're not right. You people are going out of your way to view my original post in the worst possible light. There is absolutely no reason for any of you to continue replying to me. I have explained my stance multiple times in multiple posts. Don't read two posts and skip to the end to reply. You're just wasting everyone's time.

P.S. You can buy a game on Steam, review it, and then refund the game.

Refunded reviews display on steam under the submission date just like if someone got the game for free.

Would you like to show me an image of pages of negative reviews with the word "refunded" next to them?

It seems to me that an overwhelming majority of the overwhelming majority of reviews that are negative appear to be people that bought the game and have played too much to refund it, potentially just sitting on the server browser trying to get a match on portal and then reviewed it...

Next conspiracy theory please

For the last time: I only said this was a possibility, not that it was fact. I did not research this, and I did not state that this was unequivocal fact. People were absolutely free to investigate themselves and then reply with, "It doesn't appear as if that is the case." I would have happily accepted that because I have absolutely no skin in this game, and I have no reason to defend it. Instead, every one of you replying has acted like an angsty teenager because how dare I posit something that differs from your conclusion? You're all behaving like hive-minded morons, and instead of having civil dialogue you're lashing out at someone who wasn't 100% on board with what you said (even though I didn't rule out that what you said was true; I merely suggested that there could be an alternative reason to why this game had a low score). I will say it again: grow up.

Please stop acting like a drama queen.

Except that I never made the statement that this must be a review bomb. Here, I'll quote my original post for you so you don't have to go back and find it yourself:

This isn't really shocking. It's a new game, and the review-bombers come out in full force for new games. If it's still that way in a month or so that would be interesting.

I never said that it MUST be review bombers. The implication with my last sentence was that it's possible it's not review bombed, and time will tell. That's why I said it would be interesting if this was still poorly rated after a month or so as any review bombs should be cleared up at that point. You people are going through an awful lot of effort to make it seem like I said something different than what I actually said. You need to work on your reading comprehension, the lot of you. Your intelligence (or rather, your lack of intelligence) makes me weep for humanity.

Or maybe you can accept AT LEAST that your wording didn't translate what you mean? Because when EVERYONE tells you the same thing, it may be time to question yourself rather than always rejecting the fault on other.

Not always, actually. Plenty of reviews mention they got refunded but don't show that tag. Maybe it depends on if the review is left before/after refund (if you can still review after)?

No, it's just because it's not processed yet in Steam servers. The tag will appear as soon as the refund is confirmed by Steam, or a few minutes after.

It doesn't matter that you didn't comprehend what I said. I used proper grammar, and anyone who properly understands the English language can see that I did not say that review-bombing is the only obvious scenario.

I specifically stated that it would be interesting to see if the bad reviews held over time, and that isn't something that would happen if it was simply a review bomb. I'm not going to admit that I'm in the wrong because people decided to be aggressive with their responses instead of saying, "I really don't believe that review bombs are the issue here because of X." If people would have engaged in civil discourse then my post would have been a non-issue from the start. But instead they replied with, "He said something I don't agree with! Let's mock him!" And I'm going to call people out on that every time.

Even your reply here shows that you're mocking with the GIFs. You could have left that out and just included the actual dialogue that you did and you wouldn't have come across as an ass-hat. But you didn't, because you really wanted to drive home the point that you think everything I'm saying is a waste of time. Like an ass-hat.

I'm comfortable admitting when I'm wrong. I admitted it with my Game Pass and Sony idea. What I'm not going to do is voice an opinion in a civil manner and then let people railroad me because they have nothing better to do than be assholes.

There are more recent reviews with the refunded tag, and reviews from days ago mentioning they got refunded - so unless it takes Steam days (never done it so I don't know what to expect) and don't do it in order of request I don't think that's it, at least generally speaking.

Yeah and his profile still list BF 2042

So?

It's gonna be ok.
So the point is either the tag can't be trusted as it might not always show - like I say there's some from many days ago - or these people are leaving troll reviews and haven't actually requested a refund but have just said they have and left a negative review. Either scenario plays into the hand of that other guy Staning for EA.

People on Steam must really hate this game.

Reason I say that is because people on MC review bomb games like FIFA 21 and 22, and BF 1 and V. These games get users scores of 3/10.

BUT on Steam, all of the above games have mostly positive reviews. So it shows review bombing is more of a MC thing. BF 2042 being an outlier with huge negative Steam reviews definitely means to me it really is bad. Doesnt look like the average Steam game gets unfairly bombed like MC users.

Decided to check Steam's user reviews and the first negative one shown is this one for me.

13.6 hrs last two weeks / 13.6 hrs on record
Posted: 21 Nov @ 6:14pm

- No single-player mode
- No server browser
- No general, team, or player scoreboard, only your own squad is shown.
- No general chat, only team, squad, and party
- No VOIP
- No TDM/FFA
- No leaning/peeking out while in cover
- No score bonuses for headshots, multikills, or hit-based damage XP gain
- No persistent lobbies (back to the main menu after every match)
- No ammo pickups off dead enemies/players' kits, only obtained through specialists
- No levolution beyond the tornado, the sandstorm on the Hourglass map only hurts visibility
- No melee weapon options, though melee is completely discouraged by the bugs and low damage it yields
- No spawning in other players' passenger seats when game is about to start
- No changing teams, squads, or creating a new squad entirely. Squad bonuses, field upgrades, and drop-ins have also been removed
- No self promoting to squad leader by requesting an order
- No battle log/player stats page
- Laughable end-of-match player highlights with voice lines that make these battle-hardened soldiers fighting a global-scale proxy war act like middle schoolers
- Though the soundtrack is just as eclectic and electronic as past "modern" Battlefields, its placement is few and far between and is awkwardly sequenced throughout the match
- HUD is an absolute mess of small icons with large lettering, when an objective is capped a message takes up all of your top-screen real-estate for a good 5 seconds
- Geforce 10 series card owners, even the later released ones, good luck in even attempting to come close to a stable frame rate, as this game is far from optimized and server-end latency is common
- Weapon bloom (randomized spreading of shots) only helps bad players and hurts good ones
- Buildings are not as destructible as previous Battlefield games, rarely will you ever see a collapsed building or create tactical cover through destroying chunks of walls or terrain
- Crouch sprinting, being prone while on your back, and being knocked down from explosions from Battlefield V have been removed
- Reworked class system into hero shooter-like character select
- Can never gauge what height you can and can't climb over
- Customization has nowhere near the depth of Battlefield 4, 1, and V
- Only 19 primary weapons and 3 sidearms-- 4 assault rifles, 4 SMGs, 2 LMGs, 6 rifles, and 3 shotguns
- Shotguns are completely unnecessary as close-quarters combat is never emphasized
- 14 different vehicle types to make up for the maps' large sizes, though you are at the whim of availability and demand, so traversing the maps a majority of the time involves walking great distances for small rewards
- Tarkov-like "Hazard Zone" mode where matchmaking lasts 3+ minutes and crossplay is all but required due to PC's player base
I don't understand how can they release a game in such a disastrous state after all the experience they have...

It is so difficult making something similar to bc2\3\4 with better graphic?!

Thats not even the biggest post showing issues!

After I posted that I skimmed more messages and some people wrote even bigger laundry lists of problems.

I'm not a BF gamer, so for any list with bullet points that only BF vets would notice or care about those are a non factor for me.

But for basic shit like voice chat, issues with squading up and no scoreboard, these are among the most basic features in any shooter. Not even basic. These are so standard that they shouldnt even be considered features but automatically built into the game by default.

The same people that read and believe these reviews also play in traffic.

Brainless idiots.

Game is a P.O.S. at the moment though. :messenger_squinting_tongue:
Yep, most of these reviews are people wanting to jump on the hate bandwagon. Unfortunately it drowns out real criticism. Same thing with yt dislikes. Its easy to dislike something if everything is is going “DURR THAT BADDD 😤” and join the mob mentality. But i bet most of those people would struggle to articulate why its bad beyond superficial stuff.

This is just processing for now, or indeed this person haven't done the refund just yet (not meaning this is a troll). As soon as the refund is done you'll see it in his review and the game will be out of his library.

Considering the state of most battlefield games at launch, it's hard to sympathize with people that bought it day one. Get your refund and move on.
