Avengers: Doomsday | Official Trailer

Marvel films have no jeopardy now.

A wizard can change the past and future.

Honestly I think I'm one of the few who absolutely hate that something/someone has to die in order for my entertainment to "mean" something. Or that if a character's "use" is up then they need to go.

Outside of the MCU going into the shitter my other reason for not continuing to watch was that the actual characters I gave a damn about (Cap and Tony) weren't going to be there going forward.

And it's not just the MCU too but other stories/comics that have done this.

Are there any super heroes sitting out of this lol? How big of a threat is this guy where you need every gang from X-Men to the Fantastic Four?

I find it funny that we are seeing a serious Thor of Avengers Infinity Wars than wacky Thor from Love and Thunder.

Trailer is kind of meh to me.

Dr. Strange is strangely absent from the trailer, he might not be in the movie. As one of the most powerful Avengers that seems like an odd omission to me? 🤔

The tone being more serious is a plus even if the trailer is a largely a nothing burger beyond "yeah, all those people are back" which is fine. Cyclops mega beam still gives me chills.

Lots of characters are missing. Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Monica Rambeau, She-Hulk, Hulks Son, The Young Avengers, that weird Emilia Clarke Super-Mutant from Secret Invasion.
They introduce all kinds of characters in the MCU, but they're not available when you need them. Captain Marvel? Oh she's on another Planet right now.

But this is only the first trailer, there will be a second one and a final trailer and several TV spots. They're also obviously not gonna spoil everything in their trailers. Marvel is pretty good with this. The Endgame trailer only showed scenes from the first 20 minutes of the film. They also like to edit scenes in the trailer where they remove characters. Like in No Way Home they removed Tobey and Andrew. I'm sure there will be some cool surprises in this.

I like the way that sounds. A return to the original approach. Give them time to build.

Honestly, this is making g me consider watching the fantastic 4… probably not… but it's a better spot than before.

Explains some of the comments from earlier this week on Blade too.

The response to this movie by right-wing pundits since its release has been wild.

They fall into two camps

Those trying to claim it's a failure or disappointment. This is like the rightwing version of Kyle Kulinski and David Pakman gaslighting their audience by calling the UFC White House event a disaster.

And those trying to co opt it as some antiwoke conservative commentary. Just cringe.

This is really a dumb hill to die on. The movie has been well received by general audiences and is performing really well at the BO. Just take the L.

There's a shot of the Sanctum in the trailer. So he's there unless they cheap out and just use Wong.

With a few exceptions, I enjoyed watching the MCU films, and I cheered and whooped along with everyone else when Cap delivered that line in Avengers: Endgame. But that was seven years ago.

As a logistical effort, I still admire what Kevin Feige and co. were able to pull off, a feat unequaled in feature-film storytelling. But the Marvel Moment has passed, and this trailer confirms it. I'm struck by just how tired and familiar this feels, especially the portentous dialogue. Everything about the trailer smacks of a half-hearted effort to resurrect the old magic. I predict Doomsday will do respectable business, but nothing like the MCU at its peak. 2026 is proving to be a strong year for theatrical exhibition, but most encouraging of all are the signs that moviegoers are tired of IP-driven franchises. Moana and Minions and Supergirl all underperformed; Obsession schooled Mandalorian week after week after week. If there's more room at the multiplex for original stories, you won't catch me crying over the new-old niche into which capeshit is falling.

Oh man this multiverse thing is so boring.
Just don't ask me why he was old in End Game. 💀

"Missing" is a strong word.

Edit: Monica was last seen in X-Men's universe, she should show up, or she's dead.

Bro are you okay?

If they can get serious, increase the stakes and kill off Pedro. 10/10 already.

They can't get serious with a slapstick roster of characters.

Excep for Thor (God bless Chris Hemsworth for literally carrying the MCU since its inception, dude doesn't get enough praise) there is nothing. NOTHING. Who are you going to root for? Fucking Pedro Pascal? Those losers from the Thunderbolts? That dweeb from Shang Chi? Are they going to kill off Professor X for the 3rd time? A senile adult-diaper wearing Magneto? It's just misery all around.

Not even Steve Rogers because Chris Evans looks botoxed out of his mind.

Wrong thread but I agree

I will root for Doom. 🧐🤌
Edit: If the tone of the trailer is kept, it could be interesting. I hated the constant slapstick humor especially during really negative situations.
Evan's looks weird. Bro was rocking the Iron Maiden botox setup.
Why do so many of them apply this shit to themselves while still in their 20s, 30s and 40s…

I hope Doom kills all of these people in the opening scene:

To question the scale of a threat bearing the name of Doctor Doom is to confess your own profound, irredeemable ignorance. Begone from your keyboard, peasant, and pray that Doom does not deign to moderate your very existence!" - DOOM Probably.

I'm fine with them rebooting with a new universe that is easier to follow but I'm disappointed that they aren't doing the mulitiverse thing anymore. Always been a huge fan of that aspect in Marvel Comics. But I think it's harder to pull it off when it comes to movies. I think the only two that pulled it off was Doctor Strange 2 and Loki. Yes Loki is a show but I think the multiverse stuff would work better as shows.

Marvel Studios haveing plans for movies up to 2042 is somewhat surprising to me. We shall see if the plans change if Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars bombs hard

I'm happy that they are adapting Time Runs Out and Secret Wars 2015. I love reading Secret Wars 2015. Hickman's lead up to Time Runs Out and Secret Wars 2015 I heard are legendary. So if the both upcoming Avengers films are as good as Hickman stuff, it will be something special

Them having more Spider-Man movies after Avengers Secret Wars is dependent on if Sony is willing to still play ball after both Avengers films come out. I don't like Sony and how they have the Spider-Man live action rights hostage but I did love Spider-Noir from them when it comes to recent stuff that they released that involves Spider-Man

Dude, Doctor Doom would decimate Thanos in a second. Thanos had trouble with Thor in the movies even with the Infinity Gauntlet when holding back his weapon Stormbreaker and Mjolnir from striking him. This Doctor Doom can hold Thor weapon back with only two fingers and not even sweating when doing it. The accent that RDJ is using sounds great and super unique. So far they got Doctor Doom right when it comes to showing how powerful he is, his accent and the way he looks. I'm super excited for this and I might go to the theater to watch it

After they reboot the MCU, I hope RDJ stays on as Doctor Doom as one of the villains. Have Tom Cruise be Iron Man for the rebooted MCU

I Am Doom

Pascal is in its always a skip for me plus I dont care for any of these new characters. The only ones I care for are the xmen but im not wasting cash if they will probably be underutilized.

I've skipped a lot of post End Game content and don't care in the slightest about half of the remaining cast because it's all inferior swaps. But fuck it, I'm sick of everything being so negative all the time.

I'm choosing to look for the positive. This should be enjoyable and I'm willing to give it a go. Might even catch up on some of the missed content as prep.

Plus, seeing more of Gambit is never a bad thing.

This moment in the trailer is why I am giving it a chance, or 90% the reason. The rest was the tone of the trailer. I don't care about anything else I saw, so this is make-or-break. I look forward to this being something I don't regret spending my time with.
