Call me when any choice you make leads to an actual full uncensored XNXX / Pornhub worthy XXX scene.
Romance is boring if it's just the demo.

Vikings could be gay on the downlow as long as they had a heterosexual relationship and were expected to reproduce.

The top could get away with it but the bottom was viewed with derision.

One's sexual partners mattered little so long as one married, had children, and conformed at least on the surface to societal norms so as not to disturb the community. Those Scandinavians who attempted to avoid marriage because of their sexuality were penalized in law: a man who shunned marriage was termed fuðflogi (man who flees the female sex organ) while a woman who tried to avoid marriage was flannfluga (she who flees the male sex organ) (Jochens 65). The evidence of the sagas and laws shows that male homosexuality was regarded in two lights: there was nothing at all strange or shameful about a man having intercourse with another man if he was in the active or "manly" role, however the passive partner in homosexual intercourse was regarded with derision.

I feel Ubi Soft are good with this stuff? They never force anything and you can just choose it. Good on them

edit: hit post too early

what I wanted to say after is that regardless I feel romances in games are always terrible and I hate them regardless, but at least these aren’t forced as well

Agree!

Disagree!

[citation needed]

Would you say this about other mature or abnormal content in games that might also confuse children?
Is an issue also that children are playing M rated games?
Is that the developer own that, or the parents?
What if I, an adult male, want this content in my game?
Should other potentially confusing-for-children things be removed from games?

Honestly curious where you'd draw the lines.
Ubisoft has every right to publish this content - it's their game and it is rated M afterall, not that will stop kids from playing. And this goes far beyond Ubisoft, it's our entire media, but it's disturbing when a game like ASSASSIN'S CREED, a game about traveling through time and murdering people, feels the need to include the option fuck another guy in the ass.

Kids being bombarded with gay and trans content ultimately has consequences. Don't act shocked when more and more kids grow up to be the equivalent of Resetera moderators - useless people stuck in a perpetual victim complex and unable to function in society.

edit: Wow, I missed this fucking gem:

Forcing the player to create a nuclear family thus giving their child the best chance at success in life. Oh the humanity. Get fucked Ubisoft you sackless cucks.

No, people should be free to live their own lives as they set fit. But I do have a problem with "normalizing" homosexuality. It confuses the children who play these games and is overall detrimental to society.
For real. One day kids are playing Super Mario 3 and the next day they’re slaughtering turtles and killing raccoons to wear their skins.

Key question:

WHY does there need to be romancing in an Assassin's Creed game, fullstop?

It adds nothing, it's always cringe because western devs don't know how to portray love, and it's simply unnecessary.

Instead of adding woke bs, add more cool stealth mechanics and stuff.

Romances are a staple of rpg games and the newest creeds are essentially action rpgs...

Not saying they are well portrayed or poorly made, it's just a cliché of the genre that Ubi is indulging.

Context from Odyssey

Looks like fun scripted sequences. I chuckled at
the time shift of Kassandra spending the night with the old lady
I can't believe that for years gamers had to cheat their way to add sex into games, through hacks and texture packs ; the sex scene at the beginning of the Nomad Soul was considered a small revolution, a landmark of games finally becoming more mature. And now people are complaining about those same scenes...

again. its not the idea of same sex. like I said I am not against it and don't care to be honest. Its the idea they are advertising it ( hey look our game can have the same sex fuck ! come buy our game ) mentality.

IF you want to add it then its cool but don't promote what is supposed to be normal.

why they don't say hey look in our game a guy can fuck a girl ? nope. they are pushing agenda here and for that alone, its 60$ less for them from me.

You're 100% correct.

It's not that people are homophobic. It's got nothing to do with homophobia. Ubisoft are making it about homophobia, not the players.

It's that the massive reveal of one of the hottest franchises nowadays starts off with a focus on gay sex.

Gay sex in an adventure stealth platformer game about time-travelling for the teenage boy market. Yes, that will cure homophobia.

It's like if you wanted to buy a new house, and when you took a tour, the agent says "And in this bedroom you can have gay sex!" even though you're there with your wife and 2 kids.

Edit: The only AC I've ever played is 5 mins of AC France. Looks like I'm not missing out on anything. Fucking hope they don't add leather-covered love-wagons to Rocket League to rack in the pink pounds.

I hate romance in games because it is always done poorly. Gay, straight, or otherwise, I hope developers stop throwing this stuff in to check a box.
There is a way to gain entertainment from them. Choose all the flirt options with the characters then lead them on but as soon as they show interest or confess, turn down and friendzone them. Almost 99% of the time this leads to some really hilarious dialogue and the characters getting pissed off at the protagonist. Like back in Dragon Age: Origins, I made the Warden (player character) show interest in Morrigan so at one point at camp she says flirtatiously "It's so cold in my tent all alone" so I chose the reply "Then find another blanket".

some just want to send a message rather than delivering a game ..and that’s so disgusting imo .. Assassins creed has changed a lot it’s not about old group who wants to change the world but now it’s about making stupid choices With empty big world

it’s so sad that games became like a stage for disgusting things to spread around the world .. advertising a game comes with the content of the game the combat and the elements.. I don’t need to make love in a game !! That’s so stupid .. I miss old days tbh
Older Assassins creed games had romantic relationships its just this time they give you a choice whether you pursue it or not.

Homosexuality was actually approved in Vikings times, but only if you were the one that was doing the fucking and not being fucked.

''Rassragr'' was considered to be the biggest insult, implying that you let other men sodomise you. And I believe if you were called it, you had to kill the person saying it.

So no, this isn't some kind of 'woke' agenda on their part by Ubisoft.

I don't think Ubisoft is talking about sodomy though.

The games are rated for higher ages such as young adults (M rating). People who can grasp concepts such and these and form their own opinion on them whether they agree or disagree with whatthey see, read or played. If children are playing this game and get confused then that is stricly a parent problem in the first place for letting someone under age play a mature rated game with mature content such as killing, sexuality, relationships etc.

I mean, I have no issue with hetero or homo relations. Makes sense.

But I'd definitely laugh if you could have some nonbinary/gender fluid Vikings as that would just seem odd, lmao.

Not something you'll learn in school obviously, but it's true.

Yeah it's also true for many other cultures, like Greeks/Macedonians. They didn't consider sexuality with the same homo/hetero separation that we have in our culture, there is a social status attached to it and to the way it's done, hence the "active/passive" difference. If you read Aristophanes comedies, you'd see that homosexual gestures are even expected when it's with younger men (remember reading at school the part where some guy asked his friend "how come you were so cold with my son the other day, didn't even tickle his balls !")

Unless they portray the Rassragr as the subhumans Vikings believed them to be, and no way they will, this is absolutely some woke agenda bullshit. I also would like the option to pillage towns and rape their women in the name of historically accuracy.

So developers who can’t go home to their loved ones during crunch built romance options into their game which they have to crunch to get implemented.

It’s like a snake eating itself.

Personally, Assassin’s creed doesn’t need romance. It needs more interesting things to do than a change of culture.

Assassin's Creed much like Fallout and other games have never done romances well. they're just barely fleshed out additions for those who want to participate in them. The dialogue options even allow or disallow participation.

People who complain come across as those people who cant resist clicking the option and are looking to blame other people for their choices. That or we have a bunch of god-fearing senior citizens who should not be playing as heathens to begin with.

Buck up princess and stop clicking on things you claim you don't want to participate in.

What you're saying might well be true, but the game is promoting healthy gay relationships, the opposite of what you're saying and the main reason people are laughing at the wokeness.

Ask yourself, is the definition of Ubisoft's vision out of place in the context? If yes, then that's the very definition of wokeness.

If it's a relationship then no, it's definitely a woke agenda. I'm open minded about homosexuality and it doesn't bother me one bit.

But if they have Viking couples where everyone knows they're gay then I highly doubt it would be accepted.

Let anyone enjoy the awkward sex scenes or completely pointless romances.
I found the "sex scenes" in Odyssey quite hilarious... pick the heart dialogue option -> door closes -> screen fades to black -> post sex-scene conversation. Not to mention they're completely pointless, you don't get any "rewards" and you don't end up in a stable relationship with anyone.

If anyone has an agenda here it might be Stevivor. It looks like they broke out this small part from a larger interview and made a big deal out of it.

"You can choose how to approach them any way you see fit" doesn't exactly scream "shoving it down peoples throats" to me. You can discuss how fitting homo romances are in this setting but it doesn't really seem all that woke to me.

Well we're in agreement then. I highly doubt there were healthy gay relationships back then. And if there were, they'd be highly secretive.

I'm all for people being who they want to be, but I'm like most and say that you can't just change history.

If that's the case then why did Mafia 3 have race issues as part of the storyline? Historical games made by our modern beliefs are ridiculous. Homosexuality is something they wish to show others that it's normal, yet they show racism as it was like it's really bad. If that's the case then why are they highlighting it?

Shouldn't they just make historical games and/or movies where someone is black or gay and have no references about it? Sounds stupid doesn't it?
