I know but if you disable crossplay game makes you play with ai because there's not enough people on ps5 to fill a 128 player lobby. I won't pay 70 euros to play with bots. Apex does it well, COD Vanguard apparently does it well. Battlefield should do it too.

What do they do well?

Naw I'm not buying it. It's a real shame because I wasn't a fan of the last 2, but I was looking forward to jumping back in now they've got the modern setting. My issues with it was I never once felt I was part of a squad, and nothing I did seemed to matter. I really don't like what they've done to the class system. Having a defined role was a huge part of the BF experience. Also I didn't like the map. It's great they've made bigger maps but if they're just endless empty fields to run through then what's the point. I'd rather have smaller, better designed maps with more concentrated fight zones. That Shanghai map in BF4 is one of my all time favorites. You got the skyscraper, the shopping malls, the car parks. If Dice had maps like that in 2042 it'd be an instant buy. As it is though I'll wait until it's on that EA thing

, but I see nothing offensive about this offering.
I've played about an hour of this bug ridden glitchfest this morning at a friends house. My time is more valueable than what it offers. Yes, I take a game of this quality as an insult. Plenty of better alternatives out there. If you're fine with this level of quality, good for you.

Yes but not at launch. It’s always very frustrating the rubberbanding etc. at launch. I’m not willing to go through that again but no doubt it’s a cool experience.

Good game, but i'm opting out for pre ordering Elden Ring and Halo: Infinite.

I didnt see anything special with this new game, and the vehicle controls are hard to graps. Thinngs said ,128 player battles are super fun.

Yet if the did WWI again, someone would just say "this feels like BF1 DLC"

Shit, someone could just argue with BFV "oh this feels like BF1 DLC" etc

You are not going to please everyone. Some like the modern/futuristic stuff, some like the old WWI/WWII stuff. I like BF1 and I can't even fucking argue that they had a lot of "new" going on in that game, I like it cause it focused on a lot of the classic concepts in the first place, I'd argue with the whole tornado thing, robot dogs, largest map in BF history and increased player count, BF2042 does more new then the last few BF titles, you just want to ignore facts on this man...

I don't even know how anyone sees BF1 as "feeling of something new" based on a old war and based on BF1 more so continuing BF core concepts vs some revolutionary new idea or something. I like all the BF titles, but your comment sound forced as fuck, like you are trying your best to pretend some brand new things happened in BF1, but zero new anything is happening in BF2042.

Basically we got 128 players before as that isn't "new" to BF
We got robot dogs before
We got grappling hooks before
and we got tornados that alter the actual physical map before as nothing like that is "new" apparently? Are you 100% sure about that?

I like certain BF's more then others too, what I don't do is spread BS about a game and make shit up like the new game offers nothing new compared to xyz. Theses are some of the most changes we've seen in BF in a whole generation, nothing done in BF4, BF1 or BFV even comes close to what they are attempting in this game and something tells me when a sequel rolls out like BF Vietnam or something, we'll get the same shit like "doesn't even come close to that feeling of something new BF 2042 created" lol

You can believe it’s a “beta” to fit your own rationale, but it is actually a beta, warts and all. It is a months old version, missing many features. This doesn’t indicate anything other than that. You can see many of the missing features in the trailers intended for the launch version if you want. Yet, that doesn’t guarantee a great game, I realize, but there seems to be a lot of folks rushing to judgement on a beta, not a demo, hence the disclaimer upon launching the file - and that seems to speak more about the players state than the beta’s.
This might be true but EA should know better…

Causal gamers don’t know the difference between a beta and demo, EA knows this and they should have released a better beta build

Numerous beta’s have been released this year and they didn’t have as much technical issues as BF 2042. This was their opportunity to sell this game and the beta just didn’t get the job done based on what I played and the response that I am seeing online.

$60-$70 for a MP only game that will probably have a rocky launch is a very hard sell. Especially when a good amount of solid MP FPS games are now FREE to play.

Call of duty is basically a household name at this point so vanguard will sell regardless of how boring the game looks but it’s not looking good for Battlefield 2042.

No, as BF 3,4,1 and V where all complete bug fest at launch I will wait a couple of months until I buy it... Eventually.

Not going to beta test this shit at launch , I can put my house on the line that it will be extremely buggy at launch , the series x version barely works tbh and feels like months away from release

The beta on the PS5 is in a really bad state. Flickering, and screen shaking is constant. You also have random glitches in the PC version which made just trying to play the game a chore.

But the worst problem with the game is how it doesnt feel like a 128 player game. Conquest as a mode and the map design is atrocious. The gunfights around the flags are so poor, I am shocked any work was put into them. There are no lanes. No room to room fights. No trenches. No feel of advancing. It's like they just slapped together a bunch of flags and called it a day. I would expect this from PubG devs or those new PC focused studios making military sims. What a huge downgrade from BF1.

Lastly, the specialist system makes no sense. No one wants to play together. They all look like. I dont understand how a team with thousands of employees, five different studios helping them out were able to create only 4 characters in three years. Squads in MAG were 8 people large. Why cant we have squads that big on next gen consoles and PC? Everyone could revive each other with ranged med kits on ANY class. Dying never felt like a waste of time.

DICE needs to just quit making video games. This isnt on the big bad EA. This is three games in a row they have completely fucked up due to their own incompetence. Everything they learned in BF1 is gone. EA gave them five studios, and this is what they produce?

Yes they'd say that, but both of us know that the state of the game won't really change till launch because "beta" has become a glorified "demo" for companies like EA. They're known for releasing unfinished crap. It's not like this would be the first time. Not even for a bf game.

Personally I love bf3 the most. I think its the best multiplayer game ever. I was hoping this would be a return to form as the devs said they were getting influenced by bf3 and bf4. But after playing the beta I don't see how.

Bf3 turns 10 this month and I understand you have to move and change with the times, you can't keep making the exact same game over and over, but I think the series peaked with bf3/bf4 depending on your preference.

Nah. Beta wasn’t much fun at all in my opinion. Feels really off, shooting isn’t fun and the map felt overly big.

I’m surprised at how much I disliked it to be honest. I usually enjoy the BF games but not this one. I never gave Vanguard beta a go since I wasn’t interested but for a military shooter, I’m more likely to grab that one over BF this year.

3? counting this....we're looking at 5 games in a row.
BattleField One got better over time. Some of the maps were cool. I like the setting and the blimp thing. Running around on horses and sword swiping ppl. But at its core it was not a good BF game. It was reskinned Star Wars. Which was a dumbed down battlefront. Which itself was just dumbed down Battlefield. These problems started in like 2014. The design decisions and philosophy of BF2-4 has been thrown out the window. These games feel like they were made by completely different devs.

sadly its a trend we see of franchising dumbing down and getting worse over time.

Yeah I'll get the cheapest version and prob buy one season pass. But I'll still be playing warzone so can't see myself fully committed to this.

I don't like playing betas because you just get bored of the same map over and over. But it was fun and the final product will be better.

yes, but not because of the beta

beta only had 1 map, 1 mode, bare minumums, old build

i am looking foward to that mode where you can use old BF loadouts and classes lol

Every Battlefield Beta I’ve played have all been pretty crappy looking and lots of glitches. If you don’t have a little bit of patience I would wait 30 days. First two weeks are pretty sketchy!

The more and more I played of the beta the more and more I disliked it.

Terrible servers, glitches galore (trying to rez somebody and just constantly switching loadouts is infuriating), mediocre PC performance, and just overall "brokenness" got me from excited to buy on sale.

It was good fun. I really like the design. The only knock was that it was unfinished. Although quite frankly that was expected. IT's been the norm for BF games at launch.

Based on the beta, no. It ran ok on base PS4, but I just didnt like the feel of it. The game didn't amaze me as much as I wanted it to. Recently tried Insurgency Sandstorm, liked the gameplay of that game quite a bit. Its a slower paced game but feels really satisfying. Might stick with that for a while it seems

A beta should be way more functional than this. The apparent problems that has come up you don't need a public beta to discover, such obvious bugs should not be part of it. I think we got a BF4 on our hands boys.

Unfortunately, yes.
As much as I hated the changes seen in the beta, I know there is going to be one or two maps plus a soldier load out the will keep me entertained in the final game.

The direction Dice/EA are taking BF franchise is horrible, they are killing the soul of the franchise.
Biggest disappointment was the change to the soldier class system. Grinding to unlock certain weapons was very rewarding considering you had to learn each class's play style for maximum points. Once you unlocked and had a favorite load out for each class you could use each for different maps or play style.

Second disappointment was the no factions change, the game needs factions US, Russia, China, etc., each with different uniforms and player models.
It's Battlefield's thing, we shouldn't rely on magical floating dots or tags over players to know that's the enemy.

Third, and I might be in the minority here, is the forced Battlefield moments. Do we really need space rockets and hurricanes to give us artificial "holy shit" moments? Battlefield moments are supposed to happen "naturally" and spontaneously during the course of gameplay.
But know it's like Oprah giving away cars, "free Battlefield moment for you, free Battlefield moment for you, free Battlefield moment for you", what the hell.

I also got to mention the stupid grappling hook, it needs to be completely removed.
Its changing the gameplay from a "realistic" battlefield game to a action/superhero, grapple and C4 a fighter jet when it flies by, shit show. Why not just add jet packs and parkour and just finish off the franchise and be done with it.
