Nah, just confirmed my earlier thoughts of waiting ~6months post launch.

It's going to be fun but fuck me is it going to be a jank fill mess to start off with.

Im under the assumption that a lot of the jank will be cleared up on PC. Gunplay feels good though. Terrain lacks artistic detail but 128 players, I guess that's to be expected. with all settings on high I was able to pull off a pretty decent framerate as well.

So yea, I think I'll buy it.

Yes.Game will only get better as they keep fixing the bugs & adding more maps to the game/stuff to the game. All my friends are getting it which means I can unistall the dog shit game COD and NEVER have to play that shit ever again.

not unless they fix these serious issues i gleamed from one round before uninstalling:

  • minimap is far too small and non-adjustable unlike in BF4
  • cannot see the direction a lockon is coming from
  • BF1-style vehicle spawning system that is clunky and imbalanced
  • shooting seems a bit too easy, TTK too low, though i haven't tried it much
  • helicopter controls are totally fucked. haven't tried jets but apparently they're bad too
  • spotting is dead as far as i can tell, huge strategy and balance implications that don't seem to have been thought of in any way
  • specialist system is regressive and forced in to sell microtransactions - needs to revert to class system

The 360 version of BF3 plays, and in some ways looks, better than this beta.

I think they got caught with the preorder bonus promising early access and had to release something way before it was ready.
I hope this is a crazy old build - if not, its beyond unacceptable.

Map is too big, characters moves too fast, it feels arcadey, even it's 64 vs 64 you can't find oppenents easily, it's pace almost like a battle royale, didn't like new class system, didn't like gun play and sound effects, grapple hook is fun but looks silly when you see someone using it, i played it after bf5 and it feels like playing vanguard(not even cold war) after modern warfare.

So i will wait quite a bit while they make changes to make it better then wait a little bit more for a sale:)

My current favourite Bf list goes like this: Bf Bc2>Bf 1>Bf5>Bf 4>Bf 3/Bf 2042

Yeah. I already pre-ordered.

I like what I played in this BETA. For a months old build the gunplay felt really good. Ofc there are several issues but I never played a battlefield beta without issues so..

This game feels the closest to BF3 which is awesome. Theres some baffling design choices however but we will see how it plays out when the game releases. If enough people complain they may change the class system somehow.

For the people complaining about maps being too big, please go back to Halo or CoD.

Dayum. I can understand how you didn't like this beta when you put BF5 above 3 and 4.

Also choosing Bad Company 2 as your fav where you cant even go prone...

Maybe the Battlefield franchise just isn't for you then?

I was happy with the the Beta and am having a difficult time reading comments about it that are portraying it as the final product and not the months old version of the game that it is. I’m happy for the return to more BF4 like play and environments and from what they’ve shown from Portal and the other maps in previews, this should be pretty great if you’ve enjoyed BF 3 or 4 in the past.

Beta’s are less about selling you a game and traditionally more about gaining data to help direct fixes for the devs, but folks around here are acting like this is a demo of the final product and I find that strange. That doesn’t mean you can’t form your opinion or not buy the game, but it does mean you are forming your opinion on a small vertical slice of an old version of the game that will have more features and balance than it does at this point upon release.

The one aspect I think is up for debate is the paying for the Beta access, but this is nothing new either.

I cancelled my preorder and to a refund for £81 from Microsoft.

I didn't dislike it.
I thought it looked incredible.
But the entire time, all I could think about was halo infinite and how much more fun I had with that game.
I probably would've played it two weeks and dropped it.
I will try the ea early access out, never know that might change my mind with access to more content.

But so far, it's a wait and grab it later maybe.

Yeah, you can't even go sideways while running too, but it was the one which i had the most fun. I played entirity of the BF franchise so it's too late, fake Todd ;)

Yeah it solidified a steel case preorder for me using my Best Buy credits; mostly because I’m tired of Call of Duty and a new Battlefied doesn’t happen every year. It caused me and some of my old mates who rarely have time to play games now to all dedicate a few evenings to jumping on and catching up. Purely worth it for the revived social connection to old friends

No. It offers little value over the competition.
At this point it's a mess, with a ton of technical problems.
Then there's the big problem with having to play with bots.
The map in the beta is very bad. Hopefully the final version, will have better maps.
Gunplay is just OK, but nothing special.

Leaning towards a no.

Feels like it could use more development time but I had fun with it anyway.
Biggest issue would be really committing to play it over other stuff since you really need time to learn all of what's going on in a match.
Other fear with all multiplayer fps games right now is aimbot hackers even on consoles.
But...it has been since Bad Company 2 since I really got in to one and it was a fun time playing it, so maybe.

Loved the beta but Halo just destroyed any perception of what to expect to have fun in a FPS again (in a good way).

I had some fun in Battlefield, some slight fun in Vanguard but out of the big 3 this winter Halo is going to be taking my time so ill defo buy Battlefield but further down the line.

Fair enough. That's how I felt about my halo flight. I'm glad people are reinvigorated with infinite, but it didn't do much for me. But to each their own?

Had my first run in with a hacker…..pc player headshots 5 players from about 500m away with a handgun …that’s a pretty good ratio…considering it had 6 bullets …he had them lined up before they ran over the hill

I know it’s only a beta but I have a large chunk of my friends opting to disable crossplay already

Considering the scope of the game and its development over quarantine and distancing, there was bound to be issues. Though they easily and surely could've used a better and more stable build, lmao.

But what's there at its core feels like the most BF experience in several years, and I'm all for it. It's just gonna take a few patches and adjustments, just like every other BF release before it over the past 10 years.

Feels like a nooby dumbed down version of BF4. The skill curve is basically non existent. I'll probably get it though just because there really isn't much coming out between now and December. I don't see this game having much staying power unfortunately.

The crown is Halo's to lose this year.

BETA..........not a demo

I'm kind of tired of the Beta and COVID-19 excuses. This "Beta" is in shambles more so than any beta in recent memory, and for this ONLINE only game to be in this state few months away from launch at $70 is inexcusable.

I'll keep an open mind and see how the launch goes and still give it a chance if they manage to fix a lot of the underlying issues. Time will tell but they need to earn it.

Will play halo when it comes out, if that doesn't please me and BF is improved by a ton from what the beta presented i will bite. So far not really interesting in buying it for the price they ask for.
