YepChris Avellone is not the lead writer of New Vegas, John Gonzalez is. Also, most of the main guys who worked on New Vegas are at Obsidian (like Josh Sawyer, and such). These people simply became more political in the last 10 years and want to put their ideals in games (which they have the right to do).
I honestly don't see Obsidian ever working on Fallout again, and I also see the Fallout franchise dropping out of existence for awhile (10 to 15 years). The hype that existed for Fallout 4 is not there yet for the next Fallout.

As far as I know you never are forced to do a naval battle, you can always switch to a « normal » battle by just boarding and fighting (although it can be difficult battles in some cases).Pillars of Eternity 2: Is a fine example of a game made for previous fans. I had no idea of what I was doing games mechanics wise. I detested the game's sea battles. After getting off the first island I was chased by other ships and absolutely destroyed. It completely ruined the game for me. I do not find sea voyaging or battles particularly my forte, but this game made it feel like you HAD to do it as part of the main mechanics.

Outer Worlds is obviously technically better than Skyrim but not better in other aspects. It's debatable if it's better than FO4 tho.
I can't tell you a single thing that's better in Skyrim, or any other Bethesda game, compared to Outer Worlds.
It's getting one...just not officially sanctioned or on console.Unless the modern FONV is a remake. The game deserves a remake.
This could be possibleAre we talking a remastered NV or a full sequel or spinoff or what? I'm ok with the former, but I don't think any devs should try to capture the magic of NV in a different game. Just make a new one from the ground up. That was my biggest problem with Outer Worlds; it was supposed to be "Fallout in space" and it wasn't. But it was a fun game that looked ok and played ok and was entertaining. My complaint is it was light on the RPG side (it didn't even really have consequences for choices; there were a few different branches but all roads eventually let to the same place) and there was no reason to explore or venture too far off the tram tracks. And the exploration was a huge part of what makes Fallout Fallout. For the record I thought both FO4 and Skyrim was disappointing when compared to what came before but both are still great games, miles ahead of other contemporaries in the genre.
The only thing this tells me is some internet people should spend less time on the internet worrying about other internet people.
In rpgs, I want a variety of well rounded, well defined characters that don't exist merely to serve the player. They may not all be perfectly written and I may not always like them but I'll always prefer writers pursuing new paths for characters instead of retreads of well worn character tropes.
Fallouts problems are solvable, address it’s weakness, and take a play out of Witcher’s, Horizon’s playbook and use a good op’ engine. You want Fallout in the same conversation with Uncharted and GTA than solve your problems.
That is what happens when a game is under the gun with a low budget. Why do we all think they are part of Microsoft and very happy about it. Proper resources for a big RPG is essential with out that you get a shell with lots of potential like the outer worlds. I have zero doubt avowed and the outer worlds 2 will be completely different games having Microsoft backing financially and getting fully staffed again.Outer worlds felt like a rushed stripped down fallout.
That universe has so much potential but I'm not sure if they are able to expand on it and just evolve how RPG games are played.

New Vegas having a AAA budget and the outer worlds a AA budget makes a big difference in fleshing out a game. You don't think those Sony exclusives don't have a huge ass budgets? Obsidian has the talent we have seen it when given proper resources. You think the next God of War game would be the same if they had a AA budget come on man.People thinking $$$ automatically= quality need to play more games. Means NOTHING. Zero.zero.

Someone may actually hunt me down for this, but I didn't think New Vegas was terribly good anyway. It was OK, like a solid 6.5./10 even after it was patched up and got some DLC. I preferred Fallout 3. So I am already fine with Obsidian never revisiting that franchise.
It doesn't even matter where you stand on the (real or imaginary) "woke vs alt-right" eternal battle between stupid.
The Outer world turned out to be utterly mediocre for plenty of other reasons, starting precisely with how it handled its core theme of criticism to the corporate mentality.
Lmao this. The truth is, you can't trust a game studio to not mess up no matter their previous track record.
Aside from Inon and "No Ass in my Games, Go Watch Porn," Sawyer, I don't think most of the others on this list are still AT Obsidian: the majority of the New Vegas devs were laid off or quit.Yep

Maybe you're new to the Elder Scrolls series ? Because the original creators and the ones responsible for any traces of incline was Julian LeFay & Ted Peterson. (before clowns like Toddler really took over with Oblivious and started dumbing the games down for retards)In all those years Bethesda Game Studios, for example, never really changed. TODD is still the executive producer and studio head, Hines is still their marketing guy and most of the people who worked on Oblivion and even Morrowind are still there, right now, working on Starfield and TES Vl. Even their lead story writer hasn't changed in yeeeeeears (which you can count as a good or bad thing, ill leave that up to you).
We seen 20 seconds of Avowed and it wasn’t even gameplay. We don’t even know what it is lmaoObsidian's been dying a slow death, although it's not as bad as Bioware.
The studio's been suffering from attrition. Barely 20% (?) of the New Vegas devs are there (I think 20 of the original 70?), and the rest quit, were laid off, or were fired. It shows. The writing quality definitely has gone down.
Outer Worlds was boring af. Avowed looks boring af. Don't give a shit about Grounded beyond 'wtf are you making this game for'.
You're right, I forgot about the trailer - oh wait, I slept through the trailer because it was filled with almost every fantasy cliche EXCEPT a monster bursting forth at the end because they ran out of money - that, or the trailer was actually boring the people making it to death so they couldn't muster the energy to finish it.We seen 20 seconds of Avowed and it wasn’t even gameplay. We don’t even know what it is lmao
You guys reach a new level of stupidity lol
Chris Avellone who was the lead writer for Falout New Vegas's story left the company after NV. He is one of the best story writers in video games to date.
Outer Worlds is a case of be careful what you wish for. Every Bethseda release it's "NOOO!! THE SAME SHITTY GAMBRYO ENGINE!", yet it's that engine that gives the games their vitality and feel.
Outer Worlds as fun as it was, just feels like a playground for the player and not a living breathing system like the Fallout or Elder Scroll games.
