80s action heroes Rambo and John McClane are coming to Call of Duty

The skins will arrive later this season and tie in with Warzone’s new 1984 Verdansk map, which went live last month.

Publisher Activison started hinting at the movie collaborations this week with cryptic tweets and a website for the fictional company “Nakatomi Duct Cleaning”. Nakatomi is the corporation featured in the Die Hard movies.

VGC understands there’s more to come, and when we spoke to developer Raven Software last month it hinted as much.

“I’d like to point out that in the slides we showed you [earlier], there was a little ‘classified’ section for ‘80s Action’… there is some cool stuff we’ve got planned for the 80s, so feel free to speculate on that,” creative director Amos Hodge said in our Call of Duty Warzone interview.

I remember when First Blood made commentary about America's treatment of its Vets, presented by the story of a Vietnam Vet with untreated PTSD who finally snaps after an asshole cop treats him like trash because he doesn't want a Vet in town making trouble.

Now we're talking about Rambo's Kill/Death ratios and killstreaks in a series famous for military porn and #AmericaFuckYeah. Funny world.

My man, they got the Terminator AND John Matrix in Broforce, along with John McClane, Rambo, Ripley, Robocop, Blade, and many more.

Sure, Call of Duty has better graphics but it's in first-person. You can sneak around in Broforce too.

Also, Broforce has Xenomorphs and an attack chopper called the Megacockter.

To be fair, the movies went in this direction long before Call of Duty existed.

Hopefully everyone will start using these skins so you can actually see people unlike the Roze skin that makes everyone invisible.

That's fair, the second one certainly moved the series into the "action movie" territory. It's just funny to me that that the origin of the character seems to be completely lost.

Agreed. First Rambo is fantastic, but then again I have a soft spot for First Blood Part II as well.

It's similar to Alien -> Aliens. Completely different type of movie, but both entertaining in their own ways.

Poor Call of Duty now it wants to become like Fortnite where it gets licensed IP to their game. Looks desperate. This is why I hope EA does not fuck up Battlefield and make it right.

They could quite EASILY make a new Rambo game on the Call of Duty engine...encompassing events of Rambo1onwards..

i was always fascinated by character skins in FPS games.
you can't fucking see your char 95% of the time.

why spend money on it?

it's basically rambocomments.wav charged 20 bucks or some stupid shit. and you see his arms

It's for other people to see what you bought, that's why it's usually the multiplayer games doing this cosmetic MTX bullshit.

while this could be kinda cool, it'll probably be pretty lame even if true. I mean, it's an FPS, it's not like you can see if your character looks like the coolest badass around.

Very interested in how they look.

I still play Cold Snore with a few mates occasionally and I doubt I'll buy these skins myself but to be honest this is kind of a fun announcement, one that makes total sense in hindsight.

That was it. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. Although I love the 80's and the muscular action heroes from the era, I just can't stand CoD Warzone anymore. The game is so unbelievably broken and if you have even a little bit of demand for a competitive game, WZ fails miserably. Main thing is more skins, main thing is more colorful, main thing is that kindergarten can still choose so ironically inappropriate skins for a military shooter.
That's it, I'm waiting for a better game.

Characters shape the worlds they’re in, adding Rambo and John Mclane could convince skeptics to buy the game.
