If you take any number, double it, add any other number, divide by 2, and subtract your original number, the answer will always be half of the "any other number" you chose.

No. Unless someone isn't good at algebra, I can't see how that is supposed to be impressive.

I did a thread like this once from "facts" I found in a book and didn't bother to fact check (or in some cases use my brain because I listed stuff I knew was false) and gaf tore me a new one and didn't even give me a reach around.
But i'll say now what I said then, even the fake stuff is valuable as it provokes posters to post the truth (with proof) which I find interesting.

No it's not, this is a folk etymology. A fairly stupid one, as far as they go.

Not only that, but in this case, it's spelled Ensure not Insure
