I had Pit Fighter on the Sega Mega Drive and it was awesome.

Pit Fighter came out before MK by two years.

Half those games I've heard of. Some of them dont look too bad. No worse than MK's stiff gameplay.

Not only is Pit Fighter the inspiration since it came out 2 years before MK, but if someone tracked all the release dates of those games, some of them probably came out in 1992 like MK, or just soon after.

Which means the games were already in development same time as MK, but it so happens the trend at the time was doing digitized visuals.
