It's a free puzzle game for Windows. Apparently it's notoriously difficult? It's charmingly simple in its mechanics and visual aesthetic, but I can already tell that it requires a bit more forethought than the average puzzle game. I've only played through the first few puzzles but I feel like the "outside the box" mechanic for this game is really to try to think through the entire puzzle before clicking anything. The third puzzle is supposed to be quite difficult but it didn't take me too long to figure out. Just don't call it the Dark Souls of puzzle games, alright? Don't call it...crap, too late.

Well, of course L3 would be tough if it relies on an ability that hadn't been established prior to that point with no indication that it would be the case.

Not that that's inherently *wrong*, but it doesn't make the underlying game tougher, just a bit sneaky.

Edit: Maybe I take that back, it's sneakier than I thought.

It does seem like you have to do a bit of exploration to figure out exactly what the blocks can do, but just looking at the screen was enough for me to know to try certain things and make sure they worked before including them as puzzle-solving options. Now I'm staring at #4 and experimenting with certain combinations with the same idea in mind.

Are we that starved for a language to better describe and compare video games that we throw around Dark Souls comparisons to this?

But you know I love puzzle games, so I'll give this a shot.

Edit. Haven't played it yet, but I see that it's made by the same people who created the Hanano Puzzle game. Ah yes. That was a great puzzle game, but a little sloppy in terms of its difficulty curve. sometimes I think that puzzle games work against themselves when they don't properly turn their difficulty.

I knew the screenshot in the OP looked familiar.

The Dark Souls thing is completely tongue in cheek. It's become a cliche to compare anything with a high difficulty level to that game. Anyway, a criticism: why don't the jellies put on happy faces when combined with their brethren? They just keep those same neutral faces throughout. Minus one point.

Level 6 is completely kicking my arse.

This game is nice. It's rock hard but feels so rewarding when you accomplish it... just like any good puzzle game, of course.

Sure. I actually found the last part of the OP pretty funny. Still (aside for my general rule against using sarcasm on the internet) I worry about language and communication about video games all the time.

I'm not finding it too hard so far, certainly a hell of a lot easier than John Walker was finding it! A lot of the "tricks" you can use are just common sense really. It might be years of playing Lup Salad, though, I kind of know what to expect.

It's so good though. I'd pay for this on iOS.

Ok I finally got level 1 (felt a bit derpy as it was a solution I'd dismissed prior). 2 took 20 seconds after that. But now I'm stuck on 3.

EDIT:Bah, skipped 3 tried 4. Fed up with 4, skipped to 5, beat 5 as quickly as I did 2. *shrug*

What's frustrating is I know how most of these solutions should end up in order to finish, but it's always that one move or block which has to be made first which I can't figure out.

Ooooooh 8 was devious. Not the solution I expected at all.

EDIT: 9 was pretty simple. There's kind of a seesaw difficulty curve here.

When it introduces new things there's a slightly easier level, which kind of makes sense.

I solved 8 without the game being open because the puzzle was just in my head. I love when that happens.

What my mind conjured up when I read Dark Souls and Puzzle game turns out to be a lot different than what I see.

Also, can we please stop saying the Dark Souls of X? 99% of the time it doesn't fit.

I was this close to asking for help on L3, glad I didnt.

I am on L6 and I like the brain workout so far, thanks for the link OP!

Yeaaaaaa 16 down. 17 is bugging the ever loving shit outta me.

4 was misleading for me in that the colors get linked in the opposite order I expected them to. I mainly got it just by messing around than really knowing what I was doing.

I'm pretty sure I went through the whole game before this update, which added 20 more levels and English.

I should pick it back up.

How many is that total then? Wow looking at the level select it seemed I was pretty close to the end, otherwise.
I want to say there is now 40 levels.

*Note that I haven't gotten the chance to try this update, but I'm sure it ended at 20 before.

I beat levels 1 through 8. 4 was pretty tricky, but I got it eventually. I'm loving this game so far. Simple mechanics, and brilliant puzzle design. This is what puzzle games are all about.

Stuck on 17 and 19. 17 is another one where I feel like I'm so tantalizingly close, but with 19 I haven't a clue on how to get the pieces where they need to go.
