Reeegarding moderators that have left, I think it's more telling if you look at the names that have remained. Clearly the most unhinged and obsessive, petulant and miserable fucks the world has ever seen. I remember Morrigan on here and the amount of people that kissed her ass. She was just an arsehole. Never got it. But like flies, these people followed the stench of shit.
However, special mentions for Nepenthe and Slayven who are openly, actual real racists. Most threads Nepenthe enters get locked after he's made a total tit of himself or raged out about white folk. Slayven manages to turn the tide of every contentious thread down to brown people getting picked on. And you know the funny thing? There are probably more poor working class white americans that - skin colour aside - have more claim to be treated like nigga's than these well to do iPhone wearing, social media 'creatives' and that must fucking kill them. They try to appropriate historic and current racial crimes against black people as though skin colour alone means they can identify with them. On the inside they're as white as bearded hipster #00183. They're basically Carlton. Imagining they're Philly Willy. And the only place they can do this is the internet.

So it leads you to ask why the high turnover? I imagine the huge number of asinine reports to action gets tedious and depressing, and I also imagine if you choose to not ban someone or make a 'wrong call' the loons come down on you and give you ten nil so people just think what's the fucking point. Then you have ones that use their new found fame to make the stupidest points with a voice of authority, then when the farms find them and ridicule them it becomes too much and they step away.
I remember being here when shit went down and seeing the massive over reaction by grown adults over nothing of substance. They cling to NeoNaziGaf and other shit because it eats their heads that they don't have a scalp. Every day I log on here and I am thankful that we have people who stayed, and people who joined to help rebuild this place. I don't agree with some of the stuff but I think most people here can talk but also take a bit of back and forth. The only thing that really pisses me off is the console war threads - it like proper lets us down reading some of that garbage but equally I can just pass it by without going in and screaming for bans.
There's a lot of good folk no era no doubt, but the reasons they left GAF are not being fulfilled and I think they need to probably think about that. Celebrity mods, mass bannings, protected users, transparency, witch hunts and social media bombing campaigns. Also, I remember the folks here saying GAF had a lot of overheads to run a database that size and the hsoting cost a fortune to brute force it. So where is all the cash going to host the 30GB era database? Running from cheap webhosting and modern less intensive software.......
