As an ex-heroin addict in recovery for 7 years, this is despicable to think people can be so venomous.

A tragedy, and we lose many great people to heroin/addiction. I've lost a few friends. There's many people out there still suffering, but getting by somehow. People need to realize the trajectory of opiate addiction especially. Heroin is stronger, cheaper and more accessible. It's the greatest rush. But someone using it doesn't mean they are a terrible person and don't deserve to live.

Many overdoses happen this way;the person relapses after stopping for a period of time. Tolerance lessens and they think they can handle their old dose and guess what, they can't. That, or mixing with other depressants. I can't say for sure this is the case, but it's a very fine line to walk.

Either way another great talent was lost and people continue to hold on to the stigma, which further isolates those still alive from seeking help. This probably won't ever change.

Numerous reason.

You have the demonization of individuals who have addiction problems. You can browse the internet right now and see it occurring. You also have the criminal over prescribing of opiates which is the gateway into this addiction. The cultural concept that if a doctor prescribes a medication that it is somehow safer than 'street' drugs or even that it is completely safe. The utter failure of the government for allowing this drug to reach the point that it has. All the while carrying out a war on marijuana.
 
This sucks so bad... How can I force my gfs to watch his movies? Every girl would be like "eww he's ugly" but in my eyes I'm seeing one of the most beautiful thing on cinema. This is getting more sad every minute.
 
As per avatar, Synecdoche, New York is one of my favorite movie and Philip was amazing in it (still can't believe he didn't win an Oscar). He was the greatest actor of his generation. You will be missed.

This might be the hardest a celebrity death has hit me. God, I can't even process this.

And fuck anyone who lacks empathy and condemns those suffering from addiction.
 
Oh, man, this is so sudden. I hope that he didn't suffer at least.

So what you are saying is that being a great actor gives you the right to use illegal drugs and dying of it. I am a working citizen so that is my contribution to society. I am not saying that i am a saint. I have used different drugs too but have not died of it.

Few days ago I was randomly thinking about this Ezekiel Moss thing and how it could be cool with him directing. And I haven't even seen Jack Goes Boating.
 
My favorite actor, didn't believe it when my friend told me earlier. Am gutted, there really aren't many actors about right now that had the screen presence that PSH had. From his films some of my favorites are Before the devil knows you're dead, The Master and Synecdoche, New York. Saw a lot of people on a different site saying they only knew of him because of Hunger Games or MI3, if anyone here is the same I REALLY recommend browsing his IMDB, there are lots of great movies worth seeing.

Really wanted him to do another film with Kauffman :(
