New Driveclub footage looks stunning

But but but.... GAF told me 30FPS games are trash!

Nobody knows at how many frames per second the game is going to end up running at, developers won't answer/don't know that themselves yet.

Project Cars is not even in the same league as DriveClub. Aside from obvious IQ benefits from higher res down sampling, DriveClub is considerably more technically proficient. In lighting, shadows, geometry, draw distance, foliage, dynamic global illumination and so on.

it is but it would be like arguing with a stop sign.

So is Driveclub a bumpercar game too? No damage simulation?
There's visual damage but not mechanical.
Yup, what he said.

Sign Damage

Road Railing Deformation

Cosmetic Damage and Body Deformation (from perhaps the worst driving you will ever see)

That's not really a hyperbolic statement.

It's pretty clearly far ahead of any games made on previous consoles (including the PS3 GTs) as well as every PC racer except for arguably Project Cars.

It's not even going out on that big a limb to say that DC is the best looking racer ever.

Driveclub definitely looks great in terms of prettiness, though. I played an older build and was honestly more wow'ed than I was playing Killzone.

You know playing PS4 live on my TV has shown me one thing. Yeah, these videos give a glimpse at what to expect from the title, but holy shit have I not been blown away completely once I play these games on my own rig at home. Holy shit, night and day differences. I expected differences, but not this big. I remember being blown away by the Res0gun gamesdye high bitrate 1+GB downloads and whatnot, but then get the game home and play it live and my god .. it was like a whole different looking game.

So when I am blown away by a video like this, especially a facebook one. Phew, it is going to be pure insanity at home.

2014 is going to be insane. DriveClub will be the first is a pretty much monthly line of big title releases next year. I really hope we get a release date soon! Hoping for January. Really am.

Also, playing simple games like Knack and seeing how gorgeous it is, how highly detailed the environments are, how far the draw distance is, all the crazy physics of Knack being killed and watching the pieces fly around, bounce around, with realistic physics? Man this generation is going to be fun and everything is going to be so nice to look at.

I'm curious why Sony feels the need for this and Gran Turismo. Seems a little redundant.

What do these games do differently from one another?

Is this what's being shown during Alan Carr tonight onC4? If not,nis there any way to know when it'll be on? I'd like to watch it on TV for the full effect

One is a hardcore driving simulator, the other is more in vein of an arcade/simulator with not to many options accessible to non gear heads like me.

I love Gran Turismo but sometimes i'm lost in all of its complexity so Drive Club could be the game for me and hey, i love Evolution Studios work !

Overall, i just want to drive fancy cars and race against my buddies online with ease.

Game looks great and I can't wait to see more. The one thing that stands out to me and it's just a nice little touch but it makes all the difference. I love the way the drivers will actually pass the wheel through their hands, let go and grab the wheel again.

It looks great. I was hoping it would look photo realistic but It's still a way off.

That dynamic DOF and camera might be hand made for ad purpose, if they make it optional in game, I'm ok with that.
Any word on weather now? I know Evolution said will add post launch, I hope they make it at launch since they delay the game.

For now... only time of day [multiple speeds], and sliders for how much procedural clouds you want.

The delay was the best thing they could have done because this game went from 'ill try it' to "I want it day 1".

This looks really damn good (thinking that i'm impressed while playing Forza 5 this would probably be the death of me)

Wondering if The Order will still be my signal to purchase a ps4 or this

any news for 30/60 fps?

pretty crucial for me

+1

This was my most anticipated game for the PS4 launch, was bittersweet when they pushed it back.

Please release it soon Sony/Evolution.

I just can't understand how Evolution/Sony haven't released a gameplay segment longer than 20 seconds in months. I need to see more of this beauty.

Game looks great, and the timing works too because that's probably around the time I'll be ready for a new racer.

I just hope it is closer to the PGR 'arcade' spectrum
