Just got back. This whole experience was easily one of the highlights of my year/life.
The atmosphere amongst everyone before, during and after in the cinema was something I literally can't express. It was just pure joy and excitement.
I'm sure watching the episode in the cold light of day it won't necessarily be as jaw dropping but damn if that's wasn't something special. I totally get what Moffat was on about with this setting up the next 50 years. It felt simultaneously like tying a bow on one chapter and then beginning a whole new one.
My friend made the point that this episode was partly Moffat ironing out all the kinks in the new series to make the whole thing 'flow' a bit better. Not that the new stuff has been bad, far from it, but all the call outs to the eccentricities of Tennant and Smith, and the resurrection of Gallifrey, and the implication that the whole emo Doctor era is done and dusted felt like him saying 'Ok, Doctor Who no longer has to apologise for itself, it's here to stay' which is such a brilliant message to have after 50 years.
But yeah, this was beyond how I imagined it. Literally shaking a bit still. Also: dem Capaldi eyes!

Really? They spelled out pretty much all of that, leaving no room for you not to understand it.

It's hard not listening to "I am the Doctor". After watching the special, I just need that song in my veins!
Oh yeah, definitely. He snogged her, married her, left her, came back at the same point where she would banish him from her kingdom, and have created Torchwood because of him.
So wait, was Tom Baker's appearance, The Doctor of the past, a future incarnation of, or a whole new persona "The Curator"?
I get that that was the dialogue explanation, but I'm not sure if that is the real answer. I think it was written so that it was Rose Tyler fixing it. The way the interface says "Rose Tyler" then goes, "no...Bad Wolf" or something suggests it was Rose reaching back.

I can't memorize every single line of the show. When something is only mentioned in a one off sentence that usually is very quick, its easy for me to not hear it or notice it. Same thing happens with books. I usually have to go back and read previous sections of chapters because I can't keep the entire plot of the book perfectly stored in my head. Every once in a while I forget some details.
That was foreshadowing.
It was incredible. The overall atmosphere in the lobby was something you need to have seen for yourself then in the actual screen itself - just seeing everyone sit down in their little groups, chatting about how excited they are, then the talk leading up to the start with random strangers and the collective cheers, gasps, etc as it happens on screen, it really was a once-in-a-lifetime event and I'm truly honoured to have been part of it.
Seems like it's your problem and not the problem of the show then.

Not being able to remember all the crucial little details that are only quickly mentioned in fast paced conversations is my problem, and not the shows? I guess you guys are super geniuses then.
Real shame, but there's no one to blame for that besides Eccleston. They did the best they could considering he wouldn't participate.

I mean, they could've had Smith and Tennant sat in a room doing nothing for 90 mins and everyone would've gone crazy but yeah it was like Doctor Who with a laughter track. But good.

I do that, but only when I don't focus on what I'm reading and let my mind wonder to other things. Re-watch, it will all become clear.
No one's saying you have to be a genius to understand Doctor Who lol.
You said you have a similar issue when reading books and other stuff so it seems like you may just need to watch it again to pick up the details.

Sooooo......if the moment was never used, and only Daleks orbiting Gallifrey were destroyed, does that mean there's loads of new daleks out there now? What about all the abominations - the nightmare child, the could've been king & his army of meanwhiles and never weres, the Skaros Degradations...are they all "out there" somewhere now?
I can keep the main plot points in my head, It's not that hard of a skill... Hell I could give you general jest of a book I read 10 years ago. Do you have no memory retention? You sound like someone with ADD.

I can keep the general plot points memorized too. But its all the many little details of how things happened that are hard for me to remember.

Hurt's Doctor said that he'd forget and go on to believe that he burned Gallifrey: He knew he took the moment with every intention of using it but then seemingly forgot everything past that point up until he started regenerating.
So it follows every incarnation afterwards would think they destroyed Gallifrey. Only Smith's Doctor and others after him will know the truth.
In short: There's no "reset" as such, and I thought Moffat was clever in how he managed to pull that off.
Twelve regenerations means thirteen bodies. He's still got the regeneration into Capaldi available, then Capaldi needs to figure something out before he pops his clogs.
Did folks note the little nod towards UNIT dating?

It's an hour of telly you just watched, not a dense tome you read ten years ago.
I think it'd be best if you saw a doctor about your short term memory issues.
Possible the WarDoc already killed them. We know he saw Davros's flagship fly into the jaws of the Nightmare Child right, and that he tried to save him? Maybe after that he killed/otherwise indisposed of it. Similarly for the others.
I love that the references to Arcadia and the Moment through NuWho have finally been resolved, though it would be nice to have some closure on those other hints as well.

Didn't think I'd like the Time Lords being bought back, but loved it. Adored it. Don't use them too frequently, Moffat! Don't make him Lord President again. Keep him a runaway!
Loved the Tom cameo but at the same time sort of perplexed as to what it all means, really. I would've loved if that had been Capaldi! Imagine!
