I took a quick peek at some of the later chapters and it seems like the fallout of the Dark Angel Saga is being continued...

Did I say something controversial? I am only on issue 3, so let me know if I am wasting my money.

Opinions are mixed on it, but it does continue a lot of plots from Uncanny X-Force, and I liked the second story a lot more than the first one. Stick with it if you're enjoying it so far

So I've seen CBR's opinion... what does ComicGAF think about bi Loki?

Personally, I think it's fine and suits his character, but... I'm probably not gonna read the book anyways.

I feel that it's a pretty cool move on Marvel's part, and is fitting to Loki (Although, having the god of mischief and lies might not be the best image for bisexuality >.>).

uncanny avengers is the truth

(it's at least the better Rick Comic of the moment, now that captain america is doing weird yellow peril things in a cruddy knock-off of DAREDEVIL 233)

Cap feels like its kinda in a holding period until Nic Klein shows up and Rick can do this Dr. Mindbubble ish he's been wanting to do for years

I feel kinda similar about Thor waiting for Esad Ribic to come back next year and we got this movie tie-in thing with questionable artwork in the meantime

honestly, i couldn't get past the first arc of uncanny avengers. between cassaday's mud art, the havok fanwanking, rogue acting like a damn fool, scarlet witch being racist as fuck and the godawful knockoff claremont narration. it was "how not to write a good comic 101." pure hackery

Yeah, Thor's first transition issue after Godbomb was fucking great, but this Malekith shit is wack

Pretty much why I stopped reading it last time. But the developments that I have glimpsed...

The first arc of Uncanny Avengers was hilariously narmy, but had a bit of charm. Still, the M-word thing was really dumb, and it still is. I never read any farther than that, so I don't know if it's gotten better for me or not.

It's a prequel to the original series, so no previous knowledge is needed.

Nah, I would definitely say it presumes at least some familiarity with the characters. I'd at least read the first few trades first; Gaiman himself said something similar on Twitter.

Ah, shame. I thought about getting it this week, but I was a little weary about continuity lockout (even if it's a prequel) and I wanted to see what everyone else thought about it first.

Anyone here playing Arkham Origins? I think donie has it, right? I'm really liking it so far; admittedly it's basically Arkham City 2, but I loved that game so I'm happy with this.

Anyway, I'm about 2/3rds through the story according to the synopsis percentage, and I just saw something really cool.
I'm on the mission in the Gotham Royal Hotel, where you're trying to reach Joker in the penthouse. After the explosion and you grab on to Vicki Vale's news chopper then land on a nearby roof and fight some goons, you can see a couple of statues on the roof that look like Talons. They've got body armour and the eyepieces and everything.
I thought that was a nice touch, incorporating comics lore into the game world.

Also, there's a new Copperhead in the game, a woman. Apparently Geoff Johns said that he liked her enough that he wants to introduce her into the New 52. Has anything more been said about that? I don't recall seeing any mention of her recently. I don't even know what book she would appear in. A Batbook? Justice League? No idea. I do quite like her design, although it's a bit cleavage-y for my tastes. I think she's suffering from Catwoman's Broken Zipper Syndrome; her vest has a zipper on but it's stuck right below her boobs and looks ridiculous.

HOW DID I MISS THAT. Yea, I played it man, I absolutely loved it compared to some people, and definitely thought it did some things better than AC. Love the story, the atmosphere and tone of the world and narrative, thought the visuals were AMAZING, particularly the first time I've thought physx were worth the power drain. IN door environments are a big jump up form AC, and the flying in this was straight up pitch perfect.

Unfortunately there's a few things I think AC still has over it. I like that they ramped up the combat and enemy speed but they didn't really tweak batman enough to compensate for it, ends up with some frustrating combat situations, then the
shock gloves
just throw the combat the total opposite way, way too easy. It's still clever and engaging, but now a bit frustrating, while AC managed to be clever and engaging with nada frustration imo. Also City was just more fun to explore too because they obviously had far more time and resources to devote to the riddles and riddler puzzles compared to this.

I really do love it though. I think it's one of the best entries to the batman universe outside the comics ever in terms of narrative. The story is great, the voice actors really pull it off, and it's just fun to see that era of batman make it to video games.

Haha, I do remember the copperhead thing, but no idea when that's going to happen. and HOW DID i MISS THAT. I need to go back, I want to see the
talon
reference. I only have the worst nightmare track to go back and finish for the SP, I've did everything else, but I need to NG+ to finish that so i'll catch it then.

Arkham Origins discussion

Go back and check it out! I was really pleasantly surprised to see it.

I think I agree so far. Obviously I haven't finished it but I'm really enjoying it. I love the rawness of Batman and his interactions with Alfred are great. And yeah the indoor environments, I noticed that too! Some of the predator encounters in massive rooms are really impressive. You nailed my only two complaints as well, the combat can be a bit irritating (so many enemies that need to be stunned first) and the lack of actual riddles (aligning the question marks and solving riddles were probably my favourite part of City.) Still, there are 200 Riddler Trophy-equivalents to find so that's something.

I was a bit wary of the new voice actors at first, simply because in my head Kevin Conroy and Mark Hammill are the definitive Batman and Joker, but Roger Craig Smith did a good job, and I thought Troy Baker was an excellent Joker. Gonna get stuck back into it in a bit, I left it at a bit of a cliffhanger so I need to see what happens next.

Anyway, so as not to sidetrack the comics thread into the Arkham Origins thread, my copy of Avengers Arena arrived today. The art is gorgeous, I love the colours. Really good looking book. I just realised though, do I need to have read Avengers Academy to get the backstory on Hazmat, Mettle, etc? Or can I jump right in and learn as I go?

So true. I almost couldn't finish the last issue. Some dumb LoTR setup, stupid oldespeak from everyone, bleurgh. This is what I thought Thor was before I was reading Thor and is why I wasn't reading it.

Arkham Origins is great, I'm near the end of the story and have absolutely loved it so far. Totally missed that
Talon
reference as well, very cool.

Filthy Slug

Crowd screaming like hounds at the heat of the chase/ All the colors of the rainbow flood my face
I'm not as into Sandman or Gaiman as I used to be, but Overture was good read.

The two month wait is gonna be hell but it gives me more time to appreciate those Corinthian-teeth panels, as well as that gatefold at the end
ROBOT SANDMAN
.

Oh fuck it's bimonthly too? That sucks. I guess I'll still read it as it comes out and then buy the trade for my wife when it's out, she should have finished the series by that point.

The release schedule is why I'm not buying it, gonna wait til all 6 are out so I can read it in one go.

Now that I have finally caught up on the Invincible Ultimate collection, which were amazing, I am looking for other comics. What are the overall thoughts on the Knight of the Old Republic comics? After completing the glorious KOTOR II again, I really want more of that lore.

I loved Arkham Asylum but i didn't like City and Origins feels like that. I'm not a fan of large space open world type games and the environment of City/Origins doesn't cut it for me.

2nd half of Origins has the same structure as Asylum. Linear corridor explorer with story bits interspersed throughout.

I read Heathentown last night, it's a pretty decent comic. It's a horror story about a chick whose friend is killed, but after attending her funeral and all, discovers that she may not be dead. And then she discovers that death isn't the end at this place. I felt the story itself could've been fleshed more, but it's a pretty cool take on the undead. Hardman's art is probably the best part anyway. It looks so good in black & white.

Uncanny Avengers

So this is pretty much the REAL continuation of Uncanny X-Force? Boss.
Yep, basically the current arc is a direct continuation of the Dark Angel Saga. I love it, but it seems to get a lot of unwarranted hate by X-Men fanboys for some strange reason.

Apparently there's going to be more leftover UXF plot threads expanded in the next arc in Remender's Captain America.

Can someone recommend me a good comic from the New 52? Been out of the loop for a few years and want to get back in.

X-Men Event for 2014:

Old Xavier's consciousness survived his death at the hand of Dark Pheonix Cyke in its astral form. Xavier Jr is mindwiped in a big event battle between himself and O5 Jean. Old Xavier's astral form is drawn into the body of his alternate future grandson. Xavier is back from the dead :p

EDIT: Also back to being a cripple since that's how he appears in the films

Is this for real? Sounds like bad fanfiction.

What do you guys think of Marvel Unlimited? I think it seems like a good deal, but I'm not sure how I feel about it being digital. Anyone here use it and have any thoughts on it?
