I think Batwoman has just done this too, as my pre-order was changed from HC to tpb, and it's going to put such a blemish on the collection. I feel for anyone that happens to.

I believe it. Since that whole fiasco with Blackman and Williams, I imagine half of Batwoman's readership is going to drop it with the new creative team.

I haven't ordered anything from InStockTrades in forever, so I decided to get some goodies I've been meaning to pick up. Bought:

Walking Dead HC Vol.9
Revival Deluxe HC
Glory Vol.2
Morning Glories Vol.5

All Image goodness.

I love your avatar. Just felt you should know that.

Reminds me that I need to pick up the TPs of revival.

So brutal though! Volume 4 is going to be the last Blackman/Williams collection as well. I understand dropping to tpbs for the Andreyko run while they gauge popularity, but they could have rounded things out so the whole 1-4 set were HCs.

I notice that Wolverine & The X-men is going straight to TPB now and skipping hardcovers. When did that happen? If I actually bought the hardcovers, I'd be kind of annoyed.
My best guess is that Marvel now hates trades. I mean, they've been out-DCing DC at the incoherent trade editions for some time now. Hell, at least with DC, I know that I'll eventually get a cool edition of their Vertigo titles. With Marvel, hardcovers are dying out. I remember a few years back when in every month's solicits I'd have at least one oversized Marvel hardcover I wanted.

Bucky is gone from Secret Avengers when Ales Kot takes over, he'll be in All New Invaders (Cap, Namor, Human Torch and him) in January.
Well, that kind of sucks as I like the current tone of Secret Avengers and Bucky was a perfect fit.
This All New stuff, is it set back in the day or are these the current incarnations of the characters? (fingers crossed for no time travel)

It's the current present-day versions of the characters reunited as a team. They'll be going cosmic as the first arc is their "invasion" of the Kree homeworld to recover Asgardian-controlling tech they once ran into in WWII. The Invaders were the Allies' anti-mystical shit task force during the war hehe, Cap and Bucky also were pretty much the Ghostbusters of the time lol. It sounds freaking awesome to have these guys running around the universe since Hickman's cosmic is just too boring, I have faith Robinson will do wacky things that are more fun.

JONATHAN HICKMAN ‏@JHickman 1h

Never before in the history of comics has a greater opportunity to purge shitty editorial staff existed.

lol

^^^ Haha. That's a bit harsh but it rings true.

Okay, I'm sold. Space adventures + OG badasses + Robinson sounds good to me.
Robinson can be hit or miss for me but he has demonstrated time and again that he's pretty good at writing old timers.

That Hickman tweet is the kind of thing you can only do if you're currently writing Marvel's Big Event Book and also the book that they made into a billion dollar movie. And I am so fucking glad he went and did it.

Friend was sitting here on the couch and wanted to read something so I gave him Court of Owls. Just now he finished The City of Owls. He had never read a comic before. I think I did a decent job for a first pick.

:) happy with myself right now.

That Winter Soldier mini-series sounds great. I really liked Roland Boschi's art in the issues of Ghost Rider he did with Jason Aaron. Also that Hickman tweet, god damn. Man is going in.

It's a very cool feeling when you hook someone into something you love.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise

Unfortunately, I would guess the root of editorial problems comes from higher up the food chain and are probably more likely to move their lives across the country.

Start at #1 and work forward. The series definitely does work in arcs (they are handily collected in 'trade paperbacks' numbered 1 through 10), but it has one-off stories interspersed through.

It's one of the best long form comic stories ever, don't make baby Lesus cry by reading it all out of order.
I'm jus gonna plan on jumping onto the first 28 issues!!

that should be enough to get me going ^_^b

any of the side series good?

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"

why couldnt this be marvel? i dont despise anyone in dc enough to threaten with brickwork

Haha, I'll take the compliment in here Acid! Yea, Kepow, what can I say? I am a significant outlier on the fear agent thing, everyone else loves it haha! I really did like certain elements though, particularly in the middle of the series there is an arc that really goes on an explorational tangent and introduces a bit of horror, and that looks exactly like what Black Science is all about so, still hanging on to Remender haha. Don't take my opinion as something that puts you off, I'm sure another 20 people will be in a minute to sway you the other way anyway haha!

Just checked Amazon. Confirmed. :( Seriously depressing. Surely they could have waited until after the end of the current run to change from Hardcovers to Paperbacks. I am OCD about these things. I guess I'll just give it a miss.

I still like Morning Glories, getting caught up now on issue 32ish. I also hate it, mainly the format and how the story is told. Spencer really likes writing this book in a way that calls upon every past issue, everything is "important", and i don't remember any of it really. There's a school and people are special, the teachers are jerks and torture people on occasion. Then it gets whacky. And now there is a study guide at the end of each issue for people like me who don't remember every call back and instead of enjoying a story, i'm reminded about how unremarkable some of these important moments are that i don't even remember them.

" The first page in issue 30 is the same first page in issue #1" Yeah okay i'll take your word for that one since i don't remember, but it's neat!

Burbank is like an hour away from me. huh.

anyway, I read Ghosted #1 from that Image sale. It's aight, felt like it rushed through a bunch of plot points in one issue, but "Oceans 11 with ghosts" is a pretty cool concept. Sweet art too.

That's not even being OCD, it's fucking hideous. It's fine if they want to change it after a new writer comes in or something, but to just switch it in the middle of a run is pretty annoying.

No Scrubs
I was digging BotA until I looked up and realized it was about to be over with nothing of note having happened.

If anything does happen it will be in the last chapter, like AoU. I mean shit, literally everything happened in that chapter and nothing happened before it.

For me, BotA fell apart when they were like, "We're going to send you back now! Oh wait, we can't, for no apparent reason!" That was pretty dumb. But I think I'm still enjoying it overall; at least we get more Jean Grey.

Disappointing that the Wolverine-has-no-healing-factor plot is actually being observed in other books. I was hoping they wouldn't make that into a thing, because so far Cornell's run has been pretty lame. Savage Wolverine far outdoes it. Wolverine MAX has also been bad, but at least it's in the tradition of the more off-beat Wolverine stories.

Like the whole evil twist was apparent from the start and the whole event has just been riding on that for 9 issues. Everything is going to happen in the finale, which is fucking lame. And yeah, the whole "we can't send them back because of reasons" is pretty dumb. The fact that they even were able to try and the present-day X-Men jobbed out to some nobodies is a joke.

Messiah CompleX = still the best event since Inferno.

I briefly considered going back and buying the tpb version of the first 3 volumes, genuinely. It's always bothered me that my Elegy trade is paperback anyway. I doubt I'll do it though, I'll probably just let it gnaw at me every time I look at the shelf from now on.

X-Men was in a great place pre Marvel now.

Let the Bendisification begin. People will praise and love him at first but then the issues steadily become more apparent.

Maybe this goes to my Marvel childhood but the only alternate versions of characters I ever liked were the Days of Future past ones. That made sense to me (plus dope Sentinels). Once they stand introducing all these other versions, I just couldn't care and it only made it feel dirty and muddy. So this BotA shit sounds just dumb (judgement call without reading it)

Same with DC; I tend to like some of the alternate versions of their characters. Not all of them. I'm not down with shit like Vampire Batman, but I could accept the idea of like, Earth 2 Kal-L versus Kal-El.

Maybe I just like a small number of alternate versions.

Speaking of Days of Future Past, what is ComicGAF's opinions on the trailer? I hadn't been following the development of the movie and was pretty disappointed to see the main character is now Wolverine (because of course he is) and not Kitty. I don't quite get why Bishop and Blink are in it, but apparently not Rachel.

I thought the trailer was pretty poor to be honest, it's actually put me off the movie somewhat.

No Sentinels no sale.

Just. Give. Me. Sentinels. God damn it, it's not that hard.

I didn't really dig it for some reason. Surprising, since they swiped the epic tune from Sunshine. When that kicked in at the beginning I thought oh yes, I will love this trailer. But it was a bit melodramatic I guess? They went for heart renderingly epic but it jsut came off a bit flat.

Because Rachel is Scott and Jean's daughter from the future, both of whom are dead as of X3.

This is the same movie franchise where Scott's younger brother is a teenager in the 60s, I'm pretty sure they could make Rachel work. And she was their daughter from an alternate timeline anyway.

Totally turned me off to the movie honestly. I think Days of Future Past is one of those stories that almost defines Clairmont's run on the book. That trailer basically showed that the only thing this movie and that story will have in common is a name and time travel. I'm sure a more casual fan of the movies will like it.

I'm probably a bit pickier of it than most. As a kid when I was getting into comics, when I made the move from just reading just Superman/Batman stuff Uncanny X-Men was the first Marvel title I read. With Days of Future Past probably being the first TPB I ever bought. Which I still have and have probably read closing in on the high double digits at this point.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Welp, spoilers out and BOTA and Bendis have irrevocably fucked with WatXM and forced a character in a direction that literally makes no sense.

I feel for you Aaron.

Yeah, I saw that this morning and it's not making me regret my decision to drop, especially since it's what I predicted would be the outcome but sort-of in reverse. I'm hoping there's a bit more to the resolution of this story of this than
the Bendis side of the X-Franchise "winning" the event
, something that was left out regarding the other team's position; but we'll see in a few more hours.

No, I agree. My impressions based on the trailer are that it's going to be Days of Future Past in name only, which is too bad for a number of reasons. The original story is like the Dark Phoenix Saga for me - either do it right or don't do it at all. Singer could have easily done a fun time travel story without invoking the DoFP name.

While I wasn't terribly fond of Kubert's Joker-centric Villains Month issue, I definitely think he has the chops to fly solo on this project. His art alone should justify a purchase, and I'm looking forward to an effective coda to Morrison's epic Batman saga.

Dude is going to be majorly disappointed. Where does IGN get these guys from? Click

x-comics were in such a great place before battle of the atom. can't wait til its over.

I'm really digging it still (not read BotA 2 yet though). It's very stupid time travel shenanigans but I find it's really working for me. The constant introducing new teams has been hilarious and I've been interested in what's been going on. Contrast with AoU in which very little actually happened, and this one has been a success. I don't need characters to die for something to be important, but I love the multi-versions of characters running around and interacting.

Absolutely. They're both perfect as they are and if you aren't going to do them as they are, don't even touch them.

What's the BOTA spoiler? Some one spoil it for me.
