I really didn't think we'd see a failure top Wii U for a while. Thanks for the laughs MS, you sure outdid yourself this time.

Q: Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection?

A: No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet.

Q: Do I need to have a specific cable or satellite TV provider to watch live TV on Xbox?

A: Our goal is to enable live TV through Xbox One in every way that it is delivered throughout the world, whether that’s television service providers, over the air or over the Internet, or HDMI-in via a set top box (as is the case with many providers in the US). The delivery of TV is complex and we are working through the many technologies and policies around the world to make live TV available where Xbox One is available.

OK this wasn't really answered. I need to know if my cable provider will work.

Just more ridiculous doublespeak. Basically comes down to yes you need to be connected to the Internet. Not all the time, but games may require it and it'll definitely require a connection every 24 hours, who knows for how long.

As for games basically each game comes with a serial code you put in and install to hard drive. If you lend it to someone or you sell it, they'll need to get another code or something, for a fee apparently. Not all games dev need to do this.

Q: How do consumers benefit by being connected to the cloud?

A: The cloud makes every experience better and more accessible. Because Xbox One is powered by the cloud:

• Your games have more power available to create new gameplay, persistent worlds, and deeper experiences.

Flashbacks to SimCity anyone?

I guess it doesn't need to be connected to the internet in order to function and use applications that don't need the internet but the system needs to be connected to the internet once every 24 hours or whatever in order to 'sync' up everything with your cloud account?

I'm interested in the always online thing. My initial assumption was that it'll just need an Internet connection to authenticate your games and access features like the web browser but its still not 100% clear.

According to Phil Harrison, it'll need to connect at least once a day.

How long ago was the Adam Orth incident? Microsoft at least had a month to work on the PR for this whole always online mess. Hopefully everything gets cleared up in the next 19 days.

I don't care if it's been explained, it's still a pretty idiotic statement. This is just reeking of fishy bullshit.

Q: Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection?

A: No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet. We’re designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection.

Okay then.

So if One is hooked into the super awesome power of the cloud, can't we get 360 'BC' via cloud powered streaming solutions?
Or are they just using the cloud for processing stuff?
Or are they just throwing the word 'cloud' about to make us think it's impressive when they really just mean they have servers for XBL related stuff like cloud saves and matchmaking?

It's a pass through for your cable box that might not even be able to access all the functionality like DVR or On Demand.

Cordcutter watching TV on rabbit ears? It's basically useless.
