This gif makes me want Mirror's Edge 2. Please please DICE (-人-)

LOL, apparently the GG guys were shitting their pants backstage when the dude playing missed three shots while hanging on the rope, if he missed one more time the demo would've crashed because they didn't have a death scripted in yet.

Oh god. I could not imagine the feeling of having your game being shown for the first time to thousands of people... I probably would throw up.

I like the setting a lot, seems like a wasted opportunity to make it a corridor shooter. Seems like it would be perfect to have a Cold War esque future setting in a open world city.

Some of the comments surrounding the live Killzone demo on GAF just absolutely stun me. Particularly from this thread. For example:

^ That one is a gem lol.

Seriously, though - I don't understand this mentality.

I especially love it when it's Nintendo fanboys bitching about FPS games been done before. So tasty.

I was kinda hoping that this gen all those flickering lines caused by jaggies would be gone..
They make the visuals less immersive. Maybe they can add a bit of AA. It's esoecially visible when flying over the city.

Yeah, I would expect it, game still has 7-8 months until release. Looks pretty clean over all though.

Yes, most of it looks clean.

fully aware, just adressing that i'd like them to be gone this gen. We can't be sure how much attention will go to that.

But i have no doubt the final game will look better than this trailer/ demo.

It does look like a boring shooter though. Take away the new graphics and it's the games we have now.

Hide behind cover, shoot static targets, run around a little, scripted helicopter sequence where you don't do anything except line up a shot.

Maybe that's enough? I don't know. To me (and others) it looked pretty boring underneath it all.

can be possible. Ill try to translate as good as possible

It sounds like 60 FPS games will be possible, however it is not clear if they are able to achieve this at 1080p now. Might always happen in the future when developers have more experience with the console

60fps is always possible regardless of the platform. It all depends what you want to sacrifice to hit it, and as most developers last (this) gen said, they'd rather have the upgraded graphics over 60fps that most normal people wouldn't even notice.

Personally I'd rather have 60fps than 1080p but that's just me.

My real only negative of this game reveal was the animations were not up to the usual Killzone standards. I'll put that down to being alpha. But they need to be refined, especially when he was riding that ship. Too stiff.

Like Yahtzee said, if you built an amazing scene just for the player to gawp at instead of interact with it's pointless. All the next-gen looking stuff was the scripted flying sequences. The actual gameplay that took place in the bombed out building was your boring "iron sights-pew-pew-pew-reload" and looked like a top-end PS3 shooter.

Yeah, looked really early in that regard and stuck out partly because of the stellar visuals. Especially the scene with the helicoptor didnt look dynamic enough

It'll be the same as last gen on consoles.30 FPS for the majority of shooters,30 for non sim racing games, 60FPS for action games like bayo and dmc.60FPS for racing simulators.Am i missing something?

What else are you expecting? It's a shooter.

The Helghan are just brutal in this. Targeting civilians, killing the ISA.

Having their home planet blown to hell
has really tempered them. I like where this story is going.

While allready really impressed with the graphics and the world they've created, i also REALLY hope they will return to Helgan for some real gritty, dark, colourless environments.
Helghan is destroyed, they won't be going back there any time soon. But a Helghast-like city has been created on Vetka, just look over the wall.

Why are so many people automatically placing this as a corridor shooter? Obviously it's not open world, but in KZ2 and KZ3 there were several large open areas that had multiple ways of approaching the situation. It's like a bunch of mini-sandboxes. That's how the 2 and 3 were so I'm assuming no different here.

Now of course there are going to be some one-way moments in any game, and what we were shown was definitely one of them. I believe they showed off that segment because it sets the stage for the story while also providing less opportunities for the guy playing it live to screw up and crash the game. And despite these efforts he still almost did!

Dat Gamersyde images. Looks a lot better than the GT stream ^^.

I'm okay with Colourzone if it's not on Helghan, but I want some really colourless, dark, oppressive levels in this game. Character design is super weird, CrysisZone, really?

What I am MOST bummed out about is that from what I could see in the stream the Helghast again aren't flopping around as much as in KZ2, let alone the KZ2 trailers where they were spasming in another direction after each bullet. Those animations should be in and physically correct on PS4. I want them to D:

Pretty much this. Killzone games look good, but they're really not all that fun. At least not to me anyway.

I know it's off topic but I'm still pissed about Ono coming on stage and not showing anything about Street Fighter V.

gaffers can be quite stupid during live conference threads. I still remember Gary Whitta calling The Last Guardian ugly.

yeah the animations were the most distracting part imo.

You know... jsut tacking on some great AA isnt something easy brother...

because you optimized it from alpha to beta...doesnt mean the the heavy fixed costs of MSAA suddenly disappear. It is a trade off

2-4xMSAA aside from size and bandwidth should be free this gen.

Fill wise atleast.

In regards to your first point, the dark and oppressive levels are still going to be in this game. Watch the trailer or demo and look over the wall at the very end where the Helghasts are taking refuge, no doubt we will go over there for a large portion of the game.

The second point though is the real bummer though. Going to give them the benefit of the "early build" but if there are the same or better getting-shot animations that would really really suck.

Were people not this excited about the KZ3 reveal? And then disappointed with the graphics not being up to what was shown?

My house was broken into a year ago or so and my PS3/Xbox 360 were stolen. I picked up a new 360 but was waiting for the PS4 to come out (did not want to double dip). Looking forward to getting it.

[Side note, my Wii was NOT stolen. That's has to tell you something]

MSAA won't be used much next-gen. Get used to post-AA like FXAA or MLAA.

The art they've shown hints at two protagonists, your ISA guy and an equivalent form the Helghast side. Should be interesting.

By the way, I'm still sort of against adding a Helghast perspective to the single player, but the image they have on their website definitely gives the impression they are going to add the long asked for fan request.

Well I'm assuming its a corridor shooter because the demo pretty much ran directly down a corridor followed by multiple scripted sequences. Not exactly my idea of an open, dynamic sequence

I think it could work if you have a defector, or they both go somewhat rogue. Full on playing as the Helghast would be a very bad idea, as the board room stuff showed us.

Perhaps some Fifth Element style chase sequence through rush hour traffic where you'd start off on a skyscraper and make your way slowly down while hundreds of flying vehicles would fly by and you could shoot down any single one of those with a rocket launcher.

That would definitely give me a "next gen" feel.

Great to have a solid & beautiful shooter at launch. I love the Killzone franchise, so this is all wonderful news.

Already been done with Hahka in KZ1, although he was half human and half helghast. It worked really well.
