Matthew Vaughn NOT Directing X-Men: Days of Future Past

anyway, the amount of hate batman and robin got was ridiculous. it's a solid movie.

It's better than Batman Forever at least. Batman Forever is just a boring old shitty movie. Batman and Robin is a movie that goes beyond the realm of shit into something there's not ever a fucking name for. It's so fucking bad that it's entertaining.

Singer is really good at establishing atmosphere but he totally drops the ball when it comes to action. He has no business directing superhero films, especially now that the bar has been raised by other better films.

Holy shit, people really overreact about Brett Ratner. X3 sucked, but it in no way is as terrible as fucking Batman & Robin.

X3 Fun -
Epic Troll: A wild sentinel appears... oh wait, its just a danger room scenario. Truth is, they're not going to be in this movie guys. Hope you like it!
Lame Juggernaut: Actually says "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!"
Cyclops: Poof before 1st act is even over
Professor X: Poof... oh wait, coma guy!
Jean: Stab Stab
Mystique and Magnito: My powers... nooooo.
Storm: I'm the leader now guys!

It lacked the rubber nipples, but it fucked with the mythos worse than Batman & Robin ever did.

You forgot Wolverine pining after Jean for the whole film.

The X-Mansion assault in X2 was great, but not showy. But...

This is still one of the best action sequences in any superhero film. Better than anything in any other DC film, and all the other X-Men movies.

If the script is done and Vaughn had a strong hand in crafting it, then I think Singer would be the perfect replacement. He understands that universe and has proven he knows how to make it work.

I don't really think Singer us going to take over though.

whoa whoa...the assault with the sleep darts? I never understood why Colossus ran to make sure the other were safe...he couldve just owned that assault force by himself and called it a day. They could've moved the story by having a few of them make a quick get away with a few of the kids.

Colossus had to take care of the little kids who couldn't take care of themself in this situation.

It also gave Wolverine the opportunity to go bezerker in the mansion.

Actually, Wolvie had already gone beserker when Colossus left. But we did get that awesome scene between Logan and Stryker right after.

Good, now Vaughn can push JJ Connolly to finish up writing the sequel to Layer Cake and get to work on directing the sequel. Could sandwich the filming between Bond 24 and 25.

that makes no fucking sense it was a small group just rape their faces and its over, instead they ran around in sewers for the rest of the movie for all we know.

Unless it follows XXXX through the afterlife, what does fitting it between Bonds matter?

Rape their faces? What the fuck are you talking about?

And for all we know they were all captured anyway and then rescued later in the film by Storm and Nightcrawler. Because that is what happens in the movie.

Oh we doing rankings? Cool.

X2 >> X1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> First Class > X3 >>>>>>>>>>>>> blowing an aids-infested bleedy dick >>>> Wolverine.

X1 is some seriously already dated trash. When's the last time you watched that crap? All of the action scenes are hilariously poorly made.

Layer Cake (excellent) > Stardust (very good) > Kick-Ass (okay) > X-Men (poor)

I did not know he did Layer Cake. I'm on the fence about Stardust, but the end of Kick-Ass is what marred it.

Hmm, now I feel like watching Craig in Layer Cake again.

Last watched it a few months ago. All the characters are still expertly drawn (except Cyclops is underdeveloped) and Michael Kamen's score in the scene between Rogue and Wolverine is still absolutely fantastic.

Just like everything else, you are wrong on this.

Not really, I rewatched X1 a few months ago. It's not good. I liked it a lot when it came out, but so much better comic book movies have come out since then. X2 and FC decimate it.

Well it has some good things, but overall I still classify it as poor. X2 was a huge improvement.

no they tagged and bagged a handful of the students, the rest of them hit the tunnels , colossus is wreckin them like 3 at a time and logan's all like i got this run with those noobs and keep them safe. Totally ignoring the fact that the force cannot stop colossus for shit. Storm and Nightcrawler save the ones that got tagged and bagged before the xmen were aware of the assault.

Then again Colossus couldve walked out to their transports beat everyones ass and taken the kids off and THEN they all could've made a run for it to a safe location. Theres no way out of how stupid that was. If there was a threat then it makes sense but with colossus there is no threat from a bunch of sleep darts.

But while Colossus and Wolverine are out wrecking shit, the other soldiers they are not fighting snag and tag (or worse) the other students.

The similarities between X3's ending and the season 6 finale of Buffy have always bugged me. I wouldn't go as far to say it's a rip off, but it's pretty similar. Can't find a video of it on youtube. But it's pretty much the Wolverine/Jean scene only it's Xander/Willow and it doesn't end with Xander stabbing her in the stomach.

In spite of the love people seem to have for X2, I don't have any great love for it or for Singer. The film was filled with cheap nods to the fans at the expense of a movie that actually made sense.

First Class was eminently more enjoyable for me. I know it changed a lot from canon, but at least the story made sense.

The Sabertooth scene and the Statue of Liberty were good but when I think X-Men action scene I think of the every Magneto scene in First Class and every action scene in X2.

When Nightcrawler saved Rouge it was one of the few times I let an audible 'woo' in the theater.

Confirmed:

Bryan Singer has just closed his deal to return to the director’s chair for the X-Men franchise to direct X-Men: Days Of Future Past, the next installment of 20th Century Fox‘s superhero series. The ink is still drying on the deal, we’ve learned. Matthew Vaughn was to direct the sequel to the hit spinoff X-Men: First Class, but we told you last week he was stepping back; word is he is near a deal to produce this one instead along with writer Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.

Singer launched the X-Men feature franchise with the first two superb films and has been a guiding influence in this spinoff by writing the treatment and producing. Fox already has the script for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and set to return is Fox’s First Class cast that includes Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence. The studio hopes to make the July 18, 2014 release date it set for the sequel.

I wish he could go back and finish the trilogy. Just pick up from where X2 left off and pretend X3 didn't happen.

Hopefully this will be an opportunity for him to use time travel to reset things and essentially erase X3 from the timeline. There's been talk that that could be what'll happen.

Isn't Deadline formatting that sentence incorrectly. Shouldn't it be, "Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence."

McAvoy and Lawrence aren't a packaged deal in terms of returning for the sequel.
