What are your general impressions about it? Especially when it comes to the display and battery life, how are there?

(also what was your last phone, so we can see where you're coming from)
I havent bought the phone yet. My apartment mate just bought it. Right now i have a 3gs and note.
I am impressed by the phone to some extent . First the phone looks good but not good as the press shots sugest. And the curve on the back is barely noticeable from from front or back.but from slightly side view it is one of the most beautiful gadget. Back is made of soft rubber like plastic which has a great feeling when holding. Build quality is good which was problem with previous xperia arc. It makes my note feel like a cheap plastic toy.
Screen is gorgeous but colours look slightly less vibrant next to my note but they look more natural which very evident if you take pictures from both devices and compare it to real objects. There also seem to have more range of colours like some shade of yellow are indistinguishable in my note but clearly visible in xperia.viewing angles are also slihtly better but there is no blue tint like my note.
Camera is very fast and pictures are rich in detail.but i only checked on xperia screen not on monitor and in good lightning.13 mp may sound a lot more than 8 but i found no major bw xperia and note. One thing i can say is it takes picture very fast.
The highlight for me was sound quality when using headphones. I am no audiophile but you can easily hear diff between t and note.
On software side xperia customization looks very good and is fast.

My short review if you want to know anything specific feel free to ask

Great! Thanks a lot for that! Sounds like a really nice phone and I hope it gets a good word of mouth, which it should based on your impressions.

Would you mind if it add it to the OP?

Feel free to add but promise not to make fun of my grammar and spell mistakes

Haha I actually haven't noticed any :p Added in, thanks for your impressions :) Also regarding the design, was the T you were using a black or white version? I feel from the photos that the design is more noticable if the phone is white.

lol just stop going to engadget. the verge's review of the iphone 5 was way better even though the score seemed off based on the content.

They still capitulated with the score. The text reads like a 7-7.5 but it has inexplicably managed to get 8.8. The problem I think Sony will have with them is that the phone has shipped with ICS instead of JB, really the T and J should have come out last month and they could have held back the V until they had JB ready to go (November).

I think The Verge will score it 8-8.5 but the review will read like a 9. The P had the same problem, it read like an 8.5 but they knocked a whole point off because it shipped with 2.3 and refused to redo the score now that it has been updated. Sony need to make the V the last phone that ships with the previous version of Android, either they switch the timing so that they release before the Google I/O or they delay until they have ported the latest version. That way there will be no complaints about old version of Android, that's how Samsung manage to avoid the docked points, Sony should learn the same trick.

Black version.
Two things i will like to add are
The button placement of power volume and camera seem strange at first but beside volume button the other two feels natural.volume buttons required some time getting used to.
And the 2nd thing is the virtual keyboard.it is the best virtual keyboard period. I dont knw how to describe it but it feels so natural

If there was a Bond Xperia T that had the words Skyfall engraved on it, I would buy it immediately.

I think I should probably pass for the next generation flagship.

You're completely spot on. They need to be just a bit faster with the phone announcements and releases. I mean they have improved this year, judging by the release and announcement of the S and T, but they still have to be fast. Releasing before the Google I/O is a good idea. Having said that with the rumored Xperia Nexus and Google's commitment to show the new version of Android to their partners much sooner.

Black version.

Great, will add it to the OP. I actually found the keyboard on my Arc S as a brilliant one as well, so I know exactly what you mean.

If you're in the UK, O2 will have a special 'Bond' edition...whatever that means.

That's nice. No hiss then? My DroidX hisses terribly which is why I never used it for media reasons.

Sony is concentrating on having their phones as Media devices first, so, while I haven't played with the phone myself, I'm gonna safely assume that this phone would be great for media usage.

Sounds good. Even if this does mean a move from Verizon it sounds worth it, especially if it keeps my ipod touch at home.

Yeah Sony needs to get on to other carriers. But it seems AT&T is the only one willing to bet on the underdogs in US (Nokia and Sony).

Btw, here's the Bond phone edition unboxing. Nothing too fancy, just some ringtones and making of Skyfall included on the phone:

Always wanted to go back to Sony phones (SE used to be my go-to maker :C) but can't because of Sprint....

....if they keep releasing phones as beautiful as these ones (and support them as well as they have) I ll have to end my contract with Sprint

Yeah, very disappointed that nothing extra was on the case.

Like the K800 silver edition for Casino Royale was awesome.

Yeah it's a bit of a shame. They could have done what Lumia had with batman at least.

Having said that, with this phone being in the Bond movie, it really shows how far along the roadmaps must be drawn in the mobile industry. I mean I bet Sony already has the flagship for next year pretty set in stone.

So when is this phone supposed to be available in the UK?

End of the next week, I thought

Yeah next week, around the 27th I think.

After reading some comments in the xperia blog, the V is the real flagship?

Kinda, the V has Mobile Bravia 2.0 as the first Xperia, has some technology that make the display thinner and all that. Having said that it has a smaller screen and no shutter button. V is built around LTE technology, but it'll come much later after the T.

Yes, the V has in-cell tech and supposedly WhiteMagic. With 4 subpixels per pixel it is now far and away the most dense screen in any phone and it also has the best viewing angles as well, the Bravia 2.0 basically compensates for the extra white pixel better than was done in the P so the picture looks less washed out.

Not that much later, the launch is scheduled for the final week of October in European countries with LTE and they are still talking about a wide launch of the V in the US, but I don't think it has a big enough screen to be competitive at the high end. A 4.6" V with LTE would have been great for the US markets as it is a world phone and works on all networks (except T-Mob because of their weird spectrum) and has great styling.

I hope in 2013 Sony can bring together all of the pieces and release a 4.6-5" device with LTE on all US networks.

Looks sexy.

Problem is this:

Yup.

Pretty much every review of the Xperia Play said it was terrible why did he go on and buy it? Did he think the reviewers were lying or he got carried away with the game buttons.

Can blame Sony Ericson but also the poster, should have heeded advice. But don't tarnish all their future products with that brush company has made good progress.

Reviews say good but not good enough for this one, the camera looks to be the best among Android devices though, looks good overall but can't bring myself to buying another non nexus device.

Darn, I really want to upgrade to the T.
Although I only bought my Xperia Neo about a year ago, which is an awesome phone for its price point.
Except that after the update to ICS, it became really sluggish in the interface.

I always laughed at people doing yearly upgrades of their smartphones, and now I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing. *sigh*

I bought an S coming from the Arc when Arc had no hopes of ICS. Too soon.

So the consensus is solid phone, but nothing spectacular. If this came out months ago it would have been amazing, but post GS3 and One X, it looks a bit dated. I sill think the build and design are superior. Hopefully Sony can get back into the game and release phones quicker.

This is the second time I hear viewing angles being an issue. I could have sworn one reviewer said they were good (ok... it was Engadget lol, go figure).

Final words
The Sony Xperia T is by all means an impressive phone. The dual-core Krait does a great job of competing with many other flagships not only on its home turf, but in the quad-core arena as well. Add to that a display that pushes out an impressive amount of pixels without issue, and a streamlined Android ICS interface that introduces some nifty features and optimizations not offered by other OEMs, you have a package that is very well put together.
However, when it comes to looking at a complete package - particularly one involving a flagship - it's important to take the price tag into account. At the time of release, many manufacturers promote their flagship as their technological pinnacle and tend to hike the price up accordingly, so it's important to see just how much bang you're getting for your buck.
Currently, the Xperia T can be found for €550 in most markets, which is rather steep, especially considering that certain quad-core smartphones can be had for less.

Seems spot on

Sony always miss the ball on something or another. Comparing the camera quality to both the One X and S3, the T seems a good degree worse. Horrible processing and metering. It's like they put the MP count up just for the sake of it, without any tangible improvement in camera quality, rather the opposite.

Add to that the battery life is lacking compared to the competition and what would have been expected.

Disappointing imo.

While we've looked at devices which are much better than the Xperia T on paper, we can't forget to factor in build quality and design. The Xperia T feels sturdier and more solid than both the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S III (with the glaring exception of the poorly-designed microSD/SIM card cover), and the curved back panel not only makes holding the Xperia T a more pleasurable experience, but also separates it from a design template that currently dominates the market.

And while the Android experience is something that has largely been the same across different OEMs, Sony has struck a great balance between great-looking apps and features on an optimized Android core that looks fresh yet familiar. True that while the Xperia T may be behind in the numbers race, the software package that it delivers is truly among the nicest we've seen.

Sometimes it's not enough to simply have the best around - you want to make a statement. Where some makers let the numbers talk, Sony are trying to appeal to emotions with the Xperia T's top notch design and feel. We're happy with the meal, but we guess there's room for dessert. And we sure hope Jelly Bean doesn't take too long.
Looks like i will have to get more mileage of my note.will wait for next flagship android.
or go with iphone 5

2013 devices will bring everything together one hopes. I want to see a quad core phablet and a dual core A15 4.8" phone at MWC with all of the latest Sony tech rolled in. Exmoor RS, Bravia 2.0 and all of their latest apps with Jelly Bean from the off.

But till that time competitor will have edge on them in almost everything.

Yup. The Xperia V is the first real Sony phone, until now they have been using SE prototypes and designs. Unsurprisingly the V is the most technologically advanced.

H1 2013 flagships will combine everything - a large screen with the latest hardware developments.

Can we change the title to Xperia V the Real Sony Flagship Phone? I mean seriously, the fact that it's waterproof puts it above most of the other flagship phones. It's an awesome feature that should become more standard in the future. The screen size is a pity considering the similar body dimensions to the T, but the design and being waterproof puts it above the T.

I will wait to see the Sony 2013 flagship and decide on what to upgrade from my iPhone 4. As it is, the iPhone 5 is my top pick with the Xperia V a very close second. If the V is an indication of what Sony can do in the smartphone space post-Sony Ericsson, it should be exciting to see their next generation phones.

Sorry for lack of updating this thread, I had a busy first week in college. Anyways the GSM arena review was added in the OP.

Seems spot on

I actually have a problem with that statement. Galaxy S3 is still selling around 550-600 sim-free. Xperia T does not actually seem to be as expensive either, with reports from UK for PAYG being around 400 pounds, sim free for 414 and being only 30 pounds on contract.

Can I ask where you've heard all this? I'm not questioning your credibility but I just wonder if this is something you heard from people in the know or whether you pieced this together?

Right so for more news on the T:

Sony started the marketing campaign for the T the same way they did for the S, by taking out huge ads in the Metro newspaper in the UK:

MetroXperiaT_1.png

MetroXperiaT_3.png

MetroXperiaT_4.png

There's also a camera shootout with Pureview 808, I'll be adding photos to the OP.

Lastly, a Sim-Free version of the T has already arrived in the UK.

I wonder where the hell is the Verge's and Techradar's review for the T. It seems very late at this point.

i've heard this too. the xperia v and j are the first sony designed phones since the merger. neither phone has the green SE logo on the back. every other sony phone starting with the xperia s down to the xperia t are carry-over designs from the SE days.

Definetly! Sony is on a good path with their smartphones. I'll wait till MWC to see what they'll come up with next. I may not buy the S4.
