Doom really is just a man in sci fi armor with guns on a space station or in hell. It's really not that hard. Why does modern Id want to make this franchise a bad cover song for Hexen/Heretic?
I don't care about the design above all too much in either direction. It's just alright if not aggressively boring. I just want to know what is Doom anymore. It's just dark fantasy catch all bullshit now and we are so far from sci fi core of the series. They don't need to remake Phobos and Hell on Earth over and over again, but shit...
Edit: You want to know why we don't get new shit? Cause Id Software could have just made a dark fantasy FPS with shield mechanics, etc. Make a new property. A new IP or resserect an old one that fits.
But instead, they decided to water down Doom by making it whatever the fuck they can stuff into it. Yet some corporate ball washer will say, "Aktually they should leverage an established IP for more sales". Oh that soulless tactic. That hasn't run historic IPs to the ground lately...

Because his armor and gear gets destroyed. If anything it makes more sense here than it did previously. But come on, we saw his face ever since the OG DOOM, it's not like it was hiding the entire time, lol.

It's just design concept art. Which usually uses several different styles before they settle on something. We have pictures of the actual game model and it looks good enough.

Yup, and here it is ingame.
My understanding is that the DLC goes the route of removing everything the Slayer has, and he has to start from square 1. So, I feel it's the best way to physically show that he's "lost everything" and is "starting over" essentially.

I mean i could say it would be nice if he looked a little more grizzled looking in the face, maybe more scars on the face and body, but its nitpicking really and he does look similar to the old floating head on the ui from the orig DOOM.
