Watching the series again, it still has very good animation.

Sailor Moon revolutionized pop culture and anime.

It's a really great series. I've watched it, and I like it a lot. What have been the best moments and arcs of the series?

Do you think the Sailor Moon SuperS arc is the best one in the anime, or was it overrated?

The best

Anyone who liked the original anime should check out Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. It's a tokisatsu retelling of that same basic story, and the creators used that retelling to really tighten up a lot of the plot beats and make things more coherent. It feels like the sailor moon story you remember watching rather than the one you actually watched.

Back when I was a young kid, I think I saw Sailor Moon on TV while hopping between the different channels, but it looked too girly for me (girls are gross when you're a young boy) so it never clicked with me, and now 20 years later ofc I remember Sailor Moon but because I've never actually watched it I have no nostalgia for it and can't relate

I definitely enjoyed it back in the 90s alongside DBZ, even bought a bunch of the VHS tapes. Haven't watched any of the newer series though. For me it's legacy is showing a teenage boy sexy anime girls and their short skirts.

Was *Sailor Moon SuperS* the most overrated arc of the series?

That arc gets a lot of hype, but I just don't see it as a high point for Sailor Moon.

And I always want this game...

It was most likely Sailor Moon R. The villains were green-skinned alien twins, or something like that, right?

I put Sailor Moon on for my dog when I go to the grocery store. She's a girl. I'll get around to actually watching my blu-ray copy someday.

ah yes, that alien is amazed me when I was young back then. but it has bittersweet ending if i remember correctly. i think i will need to rewatch it

edit: ah yes, the name is ail and rann, fiore is on the movie.

SuperS in my opinion had some of the better character design art in a number of episodes and some episodes were hilarious. Such as when the girls thought Chibi Usa was having her first crush/boyfriend.

Though speaking of Chibi Usa it was in that season that she pretty much was the co-lead with Usagi so I can see why some people take away points for that.

That arc was good; the first season is one of the best.

That's one of the most divisive arcs in the series... But the best villain is Queen Beryl. And for the audience, it's Queen Nehelenia.

Sailor Moon S was my favorite, first season where i felt it actually had a long running plot and everyone had their own focused episodes.

My kinda topic!!

I came here to say that I went to an anime nerd convention expecting hot women in cosplay, but what I got was a bunch of blokes in sailor moon costumes and fat women in Hatsune Miku costumes. I did however manage to pick up some cool Chisato and Takina figurines, so not all bad.

Mistake is that you went to one.

Never watched the anime or read the manga fully but I'm very aware of the franchise for a long time, I just can't get into magical girl anime.

That said, this Sailor keep popping up on my Youtube Shorts.

What a beauty.

That's the butch lesbian, what else are you watching lol.

I think my fave character's Minako as well btw, op.

I used to have a photo mode photo from Cyberpunk 2077 with my character doing the Sailor Moon pose, but it's gone. All that's left are a bunch of photos of the funniest bugs I ran into and Johnny reacting to having to fuck River lol. I'll have to take another one when I get around to replaying it and playing Phantom Liberty for the first time.

My sisters loved the show and used to buy the Japanese language VHS from our Japanese mall. I watched a fair amount it was a great show.

What is funny is there is this modern French cartoon called Miraculous about a high school girl who turns into a super hero and she is clumsy and she is in love with this model boy from her class who is also a superhero but neither know. Its such a blatant ripoff of Sailor Moon even how they transform and everything.

Is this the show you're talking about? They advertise it a lot here in Mexico, but I didn't know it was a Sailor Moon copy—or an attempt at one.

A little surprised at the vote but small sample size and all that. At least descending order's closer to the right direction?

Anyway, my vote is for Sailor Moon S. For me, this is a big 'Of course!' The '90s TV show started out as a largely serious show that leaned increasingly toward comedy as the show went on. Sailor Moon S struck the best balance, with a strong overall plot and individual episodes that were still loaded with wacky high jinks, with a fully realized cast at that point.

By contrast the earlier seasons tend to be a little too serious or not as funny, and the later seasons have their own problems. The plots in the first couple seasons are pretty good though.

SuperS is let down by needing Usagi and Chibiusa to be practically fused at the hip every episode because of the gimmick power of the season, and the overall writing was still there but the plots became somewhat tiresome, predictable, and/or repetitive as a result.

And Sailor Stars is just kinda dumb with some of the gags even going too far - Premier example in my mind forever is Usagi tripping on the scene in a fight against the monster of the week because her new costume that season is literally too big and impractical. The gag really only served to underscore that and not be so funny.
