What game are you currently playing?

Have any of you guys finished The Callisto Protocol recently? It's on sale on Steam for a pretty good price but the reviews are still pretty low.

The main complaints seem to be the weak story and the combat, which from what I've read is kind of hit or miss, you either love it or hate it.

I loved Callisto Protocol. Even did NG+ and the DLC. The graphics and atmosphere are incredible and I enjoyed the more melee focused combat, due to it being way more visceral and hard hitting than Dead Space for example. However, it can become repetitive and if you do not click with it, then it's gonna be hard to continue playing because what you see is pretty much what you get. The enemy variety is also kinda lackluster as is the boss encounters, they even rehash a couple of bosses throughout the game, which is disappointing. But overall, the game is very good, very tense and it doesn't overstay its welcome. I wouldn't recommend it for full price but for the bargain bin sale that it's usually going for on Steam, I'd say it's worth a shot.

Finally finished Pragmata and loved it. I am especially surprised about the combat adding so many little things to keep it fresh throughout the entire run, even the final boss fight added something new. Story was great, same with Hugh & Diana interactions, I was always looking forward to returning to the shelter.

Pretty much no complaints from me, maybe it wasn't looking that spectacular in the performance mode on base PS5, but the aesthetic and the ideas for biomes made up for it. Solid contender for goty so far, I definitely liked it wayyy more than RE9.

It's on my shortlist of games to beat this year!!

I'm a few hours in and absolutely love it

Yakuza 5. Still.
Playing as Tatsuo shinada at the moment.
He really is one of the most unlikeable characters so far, but I'm glad there's nearly light at the end of the long ass Yakuza 5 tunnel.
I'm hoping 6 is a leaner, more focused experience.
Started Gears of War 4, and so far I'm enjoying the almost Binary Domain experience.

With some free time, restarted Remedy's dark-horse.

Quantum Break.

This game desperately needs either an update or a remaster so more people can play it. You can see a lot of what led Remedy to Control and Alan Wake 2 take its first steps here, including things like the time warping powers and trippy visuals. The multiple Alan Wake teases in the game were also bread crumbs of things that wouldn't happen 6 to 8 years later. Remedy really did have a roadmap for their games all the way back then.

Always nice to see Lance Reddick on the screen again (RIP, you magnificent voiced legend).

Surprisingly, the TV show portion is also pretty decent, and shit you do in the game changes scenes in the TV show as well.

Series X screens (basically the One X version). Looks pretty good for a 10+ year old game, yes this really did come out more than 10 years ago. April 2016.

I'm going through Onimusha games in anticipation of WotS.

Just finished Onimusha Warlords PS2. I know Genma has some more content but my Xbox is stored.

Solid game, it's really Sengoku Resident Evil because you go back and forth inside a castle instead of a mansion.
It's not that difficult to get almost everything, including the strongest sword by beating Dark Realm's 20 levels. Last boss takes some time to beat but you end up being overpowered when you face him.

Good soundtrack, creepy at times. Pre-rendered backgrounds still look nice. Combat is very simple block/attack timing, making use of special attack. Didn't used the bow at all but the gun is useful with a certain boss.
I like Kaede but i didn't bother to fight enemies most of the time because she doesn't has a gauntlet/upgrades like Samanosuke.

It's short and you want to play the sequel to know more because some characters have an open ending. It's kind of surprising what they decided to do off-screen, namely with Kaede.

I finished Batman Arkham Origins (second run after years)

Aside from some phasing issues, it is a satisfying Batman game, I must say. The action immediately feels faster than other Arkham games, and I really like this volatile Bruce, which is the element connecting these action/volatile points. Great Joker performance by Troy. The Deathstroke and Bane scenes were much badass than I remembered. Really cool game. I wish they could have continued with a sequel...

My next run will be Metal Gear Solid Revengeance.

Finished Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void on Brutal.

It was really good, the characters were interesting and well written. My favourite was the pragmatic and ruthless Tal'darim protoss Alarak.

The mission designs were a step up from heart of the swarm. They reduced the amount of casted abilities to make it more manageable. The units synergized well and didn't get stuck like in the Zerg campaign. They definitely play tested this campaign on Brutal, as it was a decent challenge.

Overall I really liked Starcraft 2 as every mission had a unique puzzle and gimmick to it, making every level different and new.

Been playing Elliott all damn day. It´s so good. A really fun adventure that reminds me of the magic that good old Squaresoft had back in the 90s. It´s so refreshing to play a top down adventure game like this in the modern era. It´s a mix of Zelda, Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger, three bangers of the SNES-era and seeing Square Enix tap into these classics makes me so damn happy. The graphics are sooo beautiful, the music is top notch, the adventuring and exploring is so fun it makes putting down the controller almost impossible. Faye is annoying and I wish she would shut the fuck up but other than that Elliot is a 10/10 so far. Action-RPG at its very best.

I really liked it. My only complaint was the lack of a manual save option. Otherwise, it was a 9/10 game for me.

I finally reached Baal on Hell in D2R and had to call it quits... My magic warlock was awesome so far but it's impossible to clear the 2nd wave of minions before Baal with him as they have magic resistance. Read that the mercenary should do the trick at this point, but he is absolutely worthless against them.

But anyway, since I enjoy this game so much at the moment I simply started a 2nd character. Will roll with the Assassin for the first time now.

But I also bought 007 First Light today so I guess when the download is complete I'll jump in that one and then continue Diablo once I'm done with it.

I finished The Medium a few days ago, really enjoyed it, good game. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes light puzzles and horror games.

Since the Summer Sale is going on, I decided to pick up a few games: Horizon Forbidden West, The Last of Us Part I and Part II.

I decided to start with HFW since I really enjoyed the first game and had been wanting to play the sequel for a while, pretty good game so far. The graphics are gorgeous, especially the facial animations, and the gameplay is fun too. Overall I'm really enjoying it.

Aggelos

Just completed it on hard mode and while being underleveled.

Its pretty chill. A homage to the Wonder boy games on the master system from what I can tell. Cleaning up the remaining trophies.

Bastion.
I love Supergiant games but dropped this a couple of times before.
I'm making good progress now, definitely got a bite on it, but I remember why it falls short for me personally.
Firstly, the narration. (Loved it in Transistor) I just find that pseudo, Wild West drawl to be so irritating after a while.
Secondly, I think the melee combat is just too clumsy, you have to be literally on top of an enemy to register a hit, which makes taking a hit yourself all but inevitable sometimes.
Doesn't help that the Kid moves like he has lead in his shoes, and his evade barely has any iframes at all.
Best off using long range attacks and that shotgun imo.
Good but not great, bit like a slower paced Chaos Engine.

Still trying to make progress in Star Wars Outlaws I like how things break up from just being ground based, to actually flying a ship and it is nailing the vibe of the Star Wars universe jedi or no jedi.. though as birthday gift for myself, I will soon be purchasing "The Invincibles" from the Xbox game store, this is where a demo would have been really useful, but that game has been on my radar even since it released...but too much of a backlog to ever getting round to purchasing it..

Spent the entire day playing Cyberpunk 2077 and barely made any progress. Night City is just too good looking. I spend more time in photo mode than actually playing

How stealthy is the game?

How are the driving sections in the game? Is there an auto drive feature?
I actually like the motorcycle driving. You can do it in third person, so you get to see your character. It's pretty fun in first person too because you get more sense of speed that way as you blast down the road as fast as possible, dodging cars :]. I did a mix of both.

Wait how'd I end up replying to a month old post? I blame this broken mouse. Looking forward to the new one showing up in a few days.

Anyways, I picked up my save file for Yakuza Like a Dragon. Good thing this game has plot summaries for every chapter and character descriptions built in because I had no memory of what was going on at first.

Some old screenshots from Cyberpunk 2077 lol. At least one of these has definitely been patched, maybe all of them.

Outlaws does emphasis stealth as and where possible especially in areas when you are in the storm troopers "home turf" so to speak..you don't want to raise the alarm as it says...but I am very early on, I have still yet to get to the point where I can have a good reputation with all the factions so as to make life more easier...for me the game is a lot more engrossing than Jedi Survivor ever was...and yet unfortunatley that game has the luck in getting a full blown trilogy, and Star Wars Outlaws doesn't get the chance to iron out and improve into following sequels..

After setting aside Mouthwashing because I thought the introductory sequence with the Pony Express mascot was going to lead to a horror experience inspired by the likes of FNAF, I finally powered through it. I still think that is the wrong foot to get off on, but I did end up somewhat liking the game after that. The highlight of the game is the sound design which is excellent. I'm also a really big fan of this style of retro graphics, especially in horror games with a caveat that the character models feel in-between not low-fi enough and not detailed enough and kind of feel "derpy". The limited areas do have some neat world building. I'm also a huge fan of out-of-order storing telling and the obfuscation that can provide and the story utilizes that tool fairly well and presents something engaging throughout. So, why didn't I like this more? From a game perspective, it's little more than a walking simulator with a few braindead adventure game segments, a "stealth" section which just requires you walk slowly, and an uninteresting combat encounter. The games short runtime also doesn't allow you to be invested in any of the small cast of characters. But the biggest sin for me is that I was never scared, creeped out or punched in the gut with anything the game presents. In the end it feels like a game that is lesser than the sum of its parts and something I should have liked more, but I do understand why it had praise heaped upon it. It's all inexpensive so easy to recommend.

007 First Light
Out of Africa. Still enjoying my time with this despite only playing in short bursts. One criticism I have of the game is that the driving sections don't last long enough. I was driving around London and it was a lovely 27 seconds.

The adventures of Elliot
Picked up a new weapon and now I'm going around the world to see if there's anything cool to find or unlock. Mainly been finding those life shards.

World of Warcraft: Midnight
Got a new job recently and decided to treat myself to something nice, so I bought the latest WoW expansion. Got to level 84; I cleared the first zone and now I'm in Zul'Aman. Cleared 4-5 delves and thought they were great, probably better than War Within. I've also got myself a little house in a sorta spooky little area near a cliff. Decorated the outside with some scary shrubberys (Ni!) and the inside with a roaring fireplace, a bed, and a couple of other basic items. From the outside it looks like a house you'd find in Duskwood.

I just got my first character (Infernalist Witch minon build... flamewall flying skulls are boss) to endgame in Path of Exile 2. Before starting a second character (Permafrostbolt Witchhunter), I grabbed a couple Steam sale games...

Shardpunk - only played a few levels, but it's a pixel art tactical game (my biggest comparison is a mix between XCOM and Darkest Dungeon... stress levels to manage and camp between levels) where you have to gather resources and protect an automaton while getting swarmed with enemies (so far seeing Rat-Men mainly) while finding the exit and holding your ground while waiting for it to be accessible... like an extraction game. Enjoying it.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, as a huge Burnout 3 fan I never knew this was the remaster I needed.

Quantum Break - Part 2

Wrapped up the game a little while ago. It's good Remedy style storytelling and like many of their recent games, ends on something of a cliff-hanger that will probably never get answered :( Remedy bought back the rights to Alan Wake, not sure why they aren't attempting to do the same with this. At least they have facsimile of the characters from 'other universes' in future Remedy games, furthering the "Remedy shared universe"

Martin Hatch = Worlin Door. Bath Wilder = Jessie Faden. James Joyce = Tim Breaker (heh, Time breaker, good one Remedy).

Really liked the time effects this game had, and, again, you can see that Sam Lake had a vision for the future games right from here. Multiple mentions of the phrase AWE etc that won't take shape until Control and Alan Wake 2.

For the first time I started old Castlevania's recently. I am playing on PS4 - Anniversary Collection.
Finished:
Castlevania, Castlevania II Simon's Quest and Castlevania III Dracula's Curse.
Currently Super Castlevania IV.

All right if I wanted to try out and get into Hitman for the first time ever, where and with what would I start?

Subquest: if I wanted to own these games physically and not with a Game Key Card or a Game Key Disc, what would be my best option? Do I have to get the older editions?

According to google, you want the Hitman World of Assassination Signature Edition, which bundles all three of the newer games, almost all (?) the dlc apparently, and isn't a cloud game anymore. So, you don't want the older editions.

If you do get it, hope you enjoy it, btw! The Hitman trilogy are some of my fave games of all time :].

Oh right, apparently it's like the PC version in that you need to be online to actually unlock new stuff, though, so keep that in mind.

Just finished The Witcher 3 (base game), now taking a break with Star Fox and Dave the Diver - In the Jungle dlc before tackling The Witcher 3 dlc.

Okay I will look into that. So if it's always online that means you can't physically own it so subquest failed. Lol

I love it. I'm about to finish it. I love the relationship and interaction of Diana and Hugh, very touching and emotional. The virtual training is very challenging and I'm trying to beat it.

Well, in this case I've actually got faith that if IO Interactive ever had to shut down the servers, they'd almost definitely patch the game to remove that requirement. They're not like most developers, in that they actually wholly own the Hitman games themselves.

Although I guess that doesn't help with the actually owning thing, in theory anyway, because you'd always need to get the patch from online every time you reinstall the game :pie_thinking:.
