Looks cool.
But is it a port / remake of Brave Exvius without the F2P crap? It has the same character and even the same soundtrack.

For those that don't know, this looks to be a remake of an old (now end-of-service) gacha game called Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

The game had its own OC characters that fought alongside the classic FF characters. The story was ok, nothing special. The original gacha did not have any of the cutscenes and HD2D map stuff going on, so all of that seems to be new.

not even in the 2DHD hype train but immediately preordered in CE from the SE store cause i always wanted to play brave exvius but hated the gatcha shit

I hate to be that guy, but I'm going to be that guy and say that I really really hate the HD2D style. If they wanted to go with oldschool spritework but updated just do something like CrossCode or Chained Echoes or something.

Those initial few seconds of pixel art were mega hype. Then it switches to the standard HD-2D style. Still interested, I can't believe they are making a new 2D FF.

I can't tell from the video, but the gacha had a pretty fun battle system actually. You had each party member with their own touchscreen square. You queue up the skills you want to use (attacks, buffs, heals, etc), then tap them with expert timing to (hopefully) make the attacks combo with each other. The higher the combo, the more damage, and then there were characters with "finishers" which were like 1-3 big damage hits that you want to time at the very end of the combo to do massive damage. If they can bring that system into a console/controller input, it'll be a lot of fun.

Why Square? What's the point? Who is this game for?

I just don't understand, spending development resources remaking a F2P mobile game over, I don't know a decent port of Xenogears or Chrono Trigger?

I swear, the idiots that run that company.

Probably the best surprise of the show. Art looks nice. Gameplay looks turn based, and looks like you can have way more than 3 party members in the battle. If I cannot Resonate with TIFA then I am out.

I want to see a nice Demo and explain why that girl is trapped in a Crystal. I did not see a Cid in the trailer.

The crystal girl (Fina) was famous in the gacha for having a "dark" version and that dark version having a selfcest ultimate cutscene.

*edit*

Here's a full rundown of all the CG Ultimate cutscenes. It looks like Resonance is just using the in-engine HD2D stuff to make approximations of these animations instead of doing the CG scenes.

So it's a rework of a mobile gacha game like Octopath Traveller 0 was. People liked that but framing this as a new HD-2D game is a little disingenuous.

It is new. According to the IGN preview it is only really an adaptation of Brave Exvius' story. It has a new combat system, overworld, airships etc.
