God of War: Laufey Announced

- Visuals looks pretty good
- Some of the animations looks weird, it's like she is floating on the floor
- Combat looks ok. Seems a bit faster than Ragnarok, which is nice.
- Follows the samey Sony template with the over the shoulder camera, chatty protagonist, lots of walking and talking, lengthy story sequences with barely any gameplay
- Writing seems awful.

Looks like a decent pickup when it's on a deep sale.

Well they said its the 'Afterlife of the Gods' so Im guessing its going to be MANY mythologies.
Seriously hoping Zeus or Hades shows up. That big cat thing was obviously a Sphinx and Im sure they mentioned Sekhmet. Red guy either a Oni or a Aztec god.
Idk but game looks dope 👌

I feel the red guy looks kinda like something from Thailand mythology. 🤔
 
I hoped for some major changes compared to Ragnarok which I bought day one and sold it after 3-4 hours.
Sadly, it doubles down on everything that I dont like in the new games.

Pros: Graphics

Cons: Everything else. Where do I start?
- Disney cute characters
- tight behind the shoulder camera, again no cuts.
- dialogue , whats the plan boss? Really? :messenger_tears_of_joy:
- combat - not my cup of tea, looked tedious as in the new GoW games.
- story/characters - couldnt care less about whats her name or Kratos
- too cartoony, purple explosions.

It's time for Sony to retire the Naughty Dog formula especially now that they've combined it with the Disney formula and made it even more repetitive and dull. That goddamn dialogue was so fucking cringe and holy shit at the awful Disney creatures

I'm so fucking tired of this shit now
 
The problem is not the woman. She's the best thing in the game by far.

BUT:


- The constant yapping.

- The marvelesque humor

- THE FUCKING GELATINE CUBE.

- The multiverse bullshit.

It's just too much cringe.


And of course, lots of purple. Purple everywhere.

All Sony story games have yapping from TLOU to Horizon to God of War. This has been a thing for a decade now. If it still bothers you, perhaps games are no longer for you. Luckily, I love purple, the retro color. Much better than having piss brown filter.

In God of War Laufey, we explore the answer to that question: What happens to the gods when they die?


The Everywhen is the birthplace and endpoint to which all magic returns, a transcendent realm above those we've come to know. A location in which gods and creatures from different mythologies come together, and not always in harmonious coexistence.


We've shown a brief look at two of the gods Faye will encounter in the Everywhen — Sekhmet and Begtse, both decidedly less than friendly towards a new face suddenly appearing in their midst.
 
what mythos are the enemies drawing from? the big red guy looks almost southeast Asian looking in style while the greed/blue lady looks Egyptian.

Mongolian God of War - Red Guy - Begtse.
Egyptian God of War - Green Lady - Sekmet.

God of War is so far removed from it's original tone and vibe, what's the point? This basically has nothing to do with the original games.

Looks boring in general, Sony needs to shake up this formula because it's stale after a solid decade basically of just this.

It's the intro to the game, you didn't do much in the intro to 2018

Anyway, this thread has turned out exactly as I thought it would, GAF be GAFin
And we also ragged on it for having a slow intro. Ragnarok is also chok-full of long, drawn-out cutscenes. Well, they did sell 20M+, so I guess we're getting more of that.
 
The Aloy talking to herself thing is really what pushes me over the edge. Sony has a STRONG tendency to treat the player like they are frankly, stupid and it makes it feel like a children's game
 
Visually outstanding and incredibly cinematic with some seriously cool moves which is to be expected from Santa Monica, but it looks more of the same with a different skin.. can't these guys do something different for a change
 
I'll give Wolverine the benefit of doubt as the combat looks brutal.

But this I have no interest in. I'm just bored of the Sony cinematic third person games.

Graphically it looks lush, but besides that it does nothing for me.

Just went back to check the reveal trailer for GoW 2018. What a fucking downgrade.

What we have lost those years, GAF?



This is the sort of gut check I feel like I (and probably a lot of people) need from time to time. Are we just shitting on everything new out of principle? No. Things have legitimately gotten much, much worse.
 
Having the power from her arm did remind me of Forspoken.

I'm guessing for the footage, they decided to leave out the prompts of how to perform all the moves she did.
 
Animations are on point, too much reliance on particle-akke to draw the eye/create visual excitement in the scenes (but some people love that sort of thing...2nd screen and all that).
Facial capture and actress representation are on point here...great digital version of Mrs. Woll!

Gripe on my end is more babysitting except this time the cube/sword are telling you what to do instead of you yelling at "BOY" the whole time.

If this woman is considered unattractive by the usual suspects, I can understand that the problem stems from heterosexuality not being part of the equation.

I can understand that, but please let the rest of us enjoy her.
