Resident Crybaby
C from me changing my score to a D after that awful "God of War Laufey" title reveal

  • Wolverine was really underwhelming
  • Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis looks great
  • The Lost Wild looks incredible
  • Silent Hill Townfill looks promising
  • ILL continues to look fantastic
  • Marathon was a waste of time
  • Until Dawn 2 is hype
  • God of War Laufey looks pretty good but we didn't need 20 minutes of a 60 minute showcase dedicated to one game
  • continued radio silence on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. It's been two years since they announced it. the fuck

That was awful.

Wolverine looks like a reskinned gory Spider-Man.

Until Dawn 2 looks graphically worse than the first game which came out in 2015.

New God of War looks insanely boring.

Almost all the other games were announced before, no real surprises.

Only upside for me was the new Stuntman announcement.

Pathetic for what was supposed to be the big PS5 show of the year.

Ace Combat and Onimusha still look great

Stuntman was a nice surprise and Tomb Raider looks kind of fun I guess...

....but Wolverine and Wife of war 😬

As mentioned in the woke thread, No Rest for the Wicked, Dune Awakening, and Runescape Dragonwilds were the trio that caught my attention. I love gameplay focused stuff, and it doesn't have to have over the top QTEs to sell me.

The first party stuff didn`t go beyond "meh" and most of the third party stuff was already known and/or nothing too exciting either....
I once again fast forwarded through most of it.
E, would have been an F if it wasn`t for the "ILL" showing.

Ace Combat 8 with a dope pre-order bonus, Onimusha Demo, Dynasty Warriors 3 is only $39.99, Gitaroo Man and Psi-Ops to PS Classics, Kemuri

Some passing interest in: No Rest For the Wicked, Until Dawn 2, Ill

Sounds like a solid B.

A lot of the games on show we've already seen. Was that many surprises.

Highlight for me was a release date for DW3 remake.

I'll give this a solid B. A lot of good reveals but other parts were just reminders of what's coming very soon.

Games of Note:
  • Wolverine (Extended gameplay + deep dive)
  • Marvel Tokon (Green Goblin, Carnage, Magneto Reveal)
  • Rayman Legends Retold (Reveal + Gameplay)
  • Bancho the Chef (Reveal + Gameplay)

  • Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis (Gameplay Reveal)
  • The Lost Wild (Reveal + Gameplay)

Tomb Raider was always going to be day 1 (PC) for me. Silent Hill and especially Ill look interesting too. Decent showing for PC gamers. Wolverine looked fun but I ain't buying a PS5 for it.

I'm sorry but if an hour ago you would've told me the new God of War would be called fucking "God of War Laufey" and have a jello cube on the cover I would've thought you were trolling

I'm just giving it an F. A couple of games that looked great (Tomb Raider, ILL), some pretty bad trailers for games that will probably actually be good (Onimusha, Ace Combat), but the heavy hitters and everything first party were so impossibly bad that I just can't give the overall presentation anything higher than the worst possible option. An absolute embarrassment.

Usually i'm pretty lenient with SoP but here they showed so many games we already saw plenty of times it was laughable, you can't show something 3,4,5 times and people will still count this as meaningful content. There was like 2 "notable" (not for me but anyway) announcements and they had already leaked.

Feels like the industry is just Remedy, Capcom, Insomniac and 2 or 3 other studios at this point. Very very poor output, and that's not even considering the actual games because we can already predict there's absolutely nothing fresh (game-design wise) in what was shown.

So, E. I don't expect the other shows to be better and probably won't watch them because that's really time lost for nothing.

C, I expected FF VII PT 3 announcement…. And a couple more first party games or at least a trailer for them….. maybe some look at god of war the remake in addition to laufey , only 3 first party games is kinda disappointing but it points to them gearing up for ps6 next year.

E being generous

Most interesting games (phantom Blade zero/Ace combat 8/ILL) are all 3rd party and as for the GOW game... everything feels so tired and played out that it comes off as incredibly tone-deaf.

They say that some things are too big to fail but... If Sony continues like this I just don't know man...If your 1st party games all look and "play" like this (not to mention that tone deafness)...why should I bother with your platform ? Why not just get a third party box like an Xbox ?

As for the GOW Faye game...Fuck me if it didn't feel like a Marvel-ized GOW slop all over again - not to mention that the whole thing feels like DLC

I give it an E. Liked the Wolverine showing, Onimusha and Ace Combat look good, but I've never played any games of these series. Everything else was mid to bad imo. Ending it with Mom of War was just disappointing, but I guess people like nu God of War for some reason...

I wasn't at home so I missed most of it. Last few pages of the Live thread were funny so I'm giving it an A just for that.

I've been giving Sony a ton of shit for a while, while none of it would make me but a PS5 I'm actually very impressed. It didn't stink of agenda, lots of technically impressive games, and they still have talent. Props.

Hope they can start to deliver more of this going forward.
