How much would you pay for PS6?

PS is a side console for me. I mainly get exclusives and some 3rd party if I feel like it.
$700 absolute utter max and multi draws for me like Uncharted 5 and Astrobot 2 when I do buy one. Any more and I'd rather put that money into my PC for a GPU or a really nice display.

I do need to see an exclusive game or two to this system to make me move off the PS5 Pro or at least show me how it performs so much better over the Pro on a game I need to play

And not 3rd party games, first party tent pole exclusives
Hmm, yeah, each to his own I suppose, but I think we have a pretty good idea now of what each manufacturer has to offer so [personally] I don't need to justify my purchase with anything like that (if I can get it and have the means). And I was also thinking you were the type to be first in line for any new gadget haha.

Literally depends on what hardware is in the console.

Its really odd to me that people would debate on how much they would spend on somthing just because of the brand name.

Furthermore, going off the software releases for the ps5. I'm not sold on a ps6 at all.

Depends on what it offers.
But I'd say around $700?

If current prices stay the same I'll probably be able to get $350-400 for my PS5, so it would basically just be a $300-350 upgrade which I'm willing to pay if the performance increase is considerable.

I (partially) take back what i said.

I would buy a ps6 (or even the supposed handheld model) for $1000 if they announced a bloodborne remake/sequel as a launch title.

But thats the only ground I'm willing to give for the maximum supposed price

I quite like paying a premium for the PS3 back in the day, online was brilliant because it priced out some of the idiots, unfortunately with everything being cross gen and cross platform again we'll probably never have such a great experience again.

Tbh, I'm not that hyped about the next gen, just upgraded my pc and I AM really enjoying PC gaming, free online, cheaper games. options. I'm planning on jumping in the middle of the next gen maybe is Sony stop ruining their franchises.

Will roll with my current massive backlog. 2 years into next-gen, we'll see. But if they or anyone else think they can RAISE prices again? LOL thanks but no thanks.

Yeah who am I kidding, I will be all in :)

I voted $800.

The older I get the less I want to "bother" with stuff and the less I play on PC despite all of the ways it's objectively better. I just want to sit down and press play 🤷‍♂️

If after a few years it has at least 3-5 must play exclusives, I'll pay ÂŁ499 and not a penny more. They haven't even earned what I paid for ps5 yet.

It just occurred to me Sony is likely going to be asking nearly $2000 to get a full PS6 experience

(1) $999.99 PS6 traditional console
(2) $999.99 PS6 handheld that knowing current Sony will ONLY work if you have purchased a PS6 console to go with

Someone should add the $2000 option and see if we have more nuts people here than the Reeeeeeeeeee crowd

It would depend what is in the box. If the performance is killer and they announce 3 or 4 really good looking Playstation exclusives that will run best on it, $1000 is not out of the question, but I wouldn't be glad to pay it.

At $1200+it better be an amazing system, like leapfrogging the PS5 Pro's performance.

It will be $799 with all the bells and whistles, 40GB for unifed high speed memory.

This allows Sony to discount downwards over its life. A positive marketing where gamers have seen prices going up along with age.

People are more and more immune to high starting price.

Sony Ponies will pay $800 plus $200 year ps plus and for killer exclusives like Concord and Marathon like games. Dont worry, it will come with the new Goddess of War game......

I'll probably pass on it, regardless of the price.
Sony has really turned me off with this generation, and I don't see any reason to get a PS6 right now, since I don't expect them to improve in the areas where they've been rubbing me the wrong way.
And I say that as someone who owns various models of every PlayStation console from every gen.

Paywalls like cloud saves and online gaming would have to be removed and made accessible to everyone.
Also, PS6 would need to have a built-in disc drive that doesn't require an internet connection to be activated, and it would have to be ensured that games on disc(s) are actually included on the discs and are at least fully playable.

But as I said, that's not going to happen - quite the opposite, in fact.

Neither Concord nor Marathon were/are exclusives

Your gaming knowledge remains like Subnautica: below zero

I'm willing to pay more than a thousand, but I don't want them to do it. I know how it works and they should be modestly priced to reach critical mass.

Nothing.

I was on Playstation for 30 years and Sony made me completely lose interest by making pretty much everything progressively worse since 2013. Took a while for me to realize that things aren´t getting better but now i´ve arrived at the conclusion that Playstation as i loved it is dead and will never return.

Didn't they publish like 5 or 6 1st party games in 2022 alone ?
Remakes, remasters and Cross gen for the most part.

Returnal was the only thing that really hit for me personally.

GT7 is fantastic but very familiar. Dont think I'd buy a PS6 just for GT8 especially as it would be cross gen like everything else.

At this stage, I wouldn't be buying one full stop. Sony have lost me this generation tbh. My PS5 Pro has sat gathering dust for the last few months and will probably continue to do so until GTA.

Consoles are supposed to be family friendly, thus affordable for parents to gift to their kids on Christmas. Nintendo kinda gets that, even if S2 is still quite expensive by that standard.

But Sony and Microslop have completely lost the plot here. All of 'em should seriously consider turning down the resolution and framerate / RT wars to get a box out that's 500 tops, even better would be 300-400. The vast majority of gamers doesn't give a flying fuck about graphics.

What the heck? Family friendly? Lol. Pay up or wait for a sale.

Dude that is so much of a lazy take. Or sad.

I'm not gonna pretend PS5 didn't have games cause God of War Ragnarok and GT7 released on PS4 as well, they're one of my favourite experiences this gen.
Eh? I'm talking about me personally. I didn't care for Ragnarok.

The OP asked how much would I pay for a PS6 not you.

PS5' s line up was lacking FOR ME. I'm not spending close to a grand for just GT8 when I can play it on the PS5.

But he's right. The only outstanding PS5 exclusive game was Stellar Blade for me.
Not gonna say those cross gen games are bad, but games based on specs of last-gen hardware are not the reason I buy new tech.

PS5 just has a straight up weak lineup - even today

To be fair any game that comes in the next generation you like will be enough to get it.

Okay, maybe you don't get the console day one, but over the next 7-10 years you will see something that will make you get it. I usually get the consoles day one since PS4 because I know greatness awaits somewhere in one of these titles.

I Was more thinking on the launch window games for this particular question, but yeah the whole gen has been sub par.

I know, I still find it sad. Like you might love to put cactus in your bum, and I'd find it painful, despite how much you love it.

And vice versa, you might find my lack of a better example disturbing, and you'd be right

Don't worry about me, I love Marathon. Certainly the best game Sony puy out this generation, but lets not go there :messenger_winking_tongue:

At $1,000, the PlayStation is no longer a mass market brand.

It becomes something premium along the likes of Gucci, Hermes, Bugatti, etc.
Price points don't exist in a vacuum. Once people accept the current pricing and market reality that all of our electronics are going to be more expensive it will normalize new psychological price floors and the idea that you should probably buy in sooner rather than later if you're going to buy in at all. It's definitely going to slow down adoption amongst people that don't see gaming as their primary hobby though.

Games are expensive to make so I don't really blame devs or publishers for keeping a game cross-platform and it's never really bothered me outside of when people try to use this fact in a list war which I just find funny. Anyway, if I want to play something, I want to play it on the latest device that I own. It just seems like a silly thing to get hung up over I feel. And I think during the launch of a platform we're not going to see devs/publishers max out the machines anyway so at that time I feel like it matters even less.
