Linux payload implementing the HV exploit and a custom bootloader - ps5-linux/ps5-linux-loader
GG had their feet to the fire for K2 no doubt that e3 CG trailer really fked them, but the result is a great looking game, the combat was slow but it felt like your character was grounded, unlike C*ck of Duty when it feels like your character is on something.Killzone 2 and 3 sure were something else. They looked(still do) amazing.
Sony would need to make their own emulator or let users install Linux and completely open it up with full file access.I´ll never understand why companies act like that. PS3 BC at least on certain games it´s something users has been asked for several years. Now community themselves proves PS3 can be emulated on the regular PS5, not even the Pro and at 4K. Stupid Sony, at least release Killzone and Resistance trilogy remastered for PS5, ain´t that hard....But of course they are obssesed with Killzone, TLoU and soon will be with that game of the ARROGANT bald girl boss upcoming.
Isn't RPCS3 open source?Sony would need to make their own emulator or let users install Linux and completely open it up with full file access.
No idea but it doesn't matter, Sony ain't going to use an open-source garage dev emulator, it's more likely that they'll stomp all this if it would snowball and become popular.Isn't RPCS3 open source?

People don't want BC.Sony would need to make their own emulator or let users install Linux and completely open it up with full file access.

Hasn't Nintendo ninjas been slicing up emulators? They can't do shit to emulation
That's just console warrior defense talk, nobody in their right mind would complain about having access to all their old games on one device.People don't want BC.
When Xbox One got bc then the mahoeiry of playstation users said they didn't want old games only new, so no reason for Sony to waste time and money on something the majority doesn't care about.

Okay had no idea but opening up PS5 for emulation seems like a bigger deal, would have to control it and lock it down somehow or publishers would probably complain since some might want to sell a remaster.they used an open source "garage dev" emulator for their PS1 mini![]()
Actually even Sony's Jim Ryan said something like "nobody wants to play ancient looking games"That's just console warrior defense talk, nobody in their right mind would complain about having access to all their old games on one device.
Lol yes and that wasn't popularActually even Sony's Jim Ryan said something like "nobody wants to play ancient looking games"

ps3 emulation had kind of lost its magic because MGS 4 HATH BEEN LIBERATED FROM ITS PS3 PRISON
That's true. They're going to use the ones they created that are worse in pretty much every way than the open source garage ones. See PS1 and PS2 classics for reference.Sony ain't going to use an open-source garage dev emulator

Man, we'd never have lost Linux on PS if hackers didn't use it to jailbreak PS3. PS2 and PS3 had Linux support officially, sad we don't have that anymore.

you literally have it backwards. the PS3 was completely unmodded until they removed Linux support. after removing linux support the modding community sped up their efforts and did basically instantly jailbreak it.
Sony removing Linux support was directly responsible for the PS3 being cracked
That implies they have 100% documentation. That's rarely the case in software engineering because it assumes people are doing their work properly. Now I need to rewatch that Digital Foundry clip of John Linneman's fake-macho-yet-still-cracking voice insisting that SONY, who have access to all the PS3 technical docs btw, wouldn't be able to do PS3 backwards compatibility on PS5. Muh SPUs!
pretty sure the playstation mini uses an emulator xDNo idea but it doesn't matter, Sony ain't going to use an open-source garage dev emulator, it's more likely that they'll stomp all this if it would snowball and become popular.
I realize I haven't checked, so stupid question perhaps, but isn't PS1,PS2 emulation already there?? I thought PS3 was the only console they skipped for BC, because of the Cell complexity.I don't see how they couldn't offer PS1 back compat and PS2 back compat (which was also partially emulated starting on PAL models of the PS3)

Oh I was talking about PS1/2 emulation on PS5, you were talking about PS1/2 emulation on PS3?PS3 had full software emulator of PS2 that worked with some games - all PSN releases of PS2 games were using it (over 300 games).
I'm aware of that, but the loud minority of console warriors seems to be the loudest and are deafening for people who likely want it, and Sony probably just don't see the value in it.That's just console warrior defense talk, nobody in their right mind would complain about having access to all their old games on one device.
Yeah I know it's very annoying and push out false data to the corporations.I'm aware of that, but the loud minority of console warriors seems to be the loudest and are deafening for people who likely want it, and Sony probably just don't see the value in it.
Also probably too much effort vs what they can bank on it in their opinion, because I'm sure they would do it if they believed it was profitable.
The rpcs3 team has shown that it's possible despite the bad architecture

That was a device they pushed out for as cheap as they could, it's just a basic arm device with a launcher using PSX ReARMED as the emulator. Despite them having a better emulator already made.they used an open source "garage dev" emulator for their PS1 mini![]()
Oh I was talking about PS1/2 emulation on PS5, you were talking about PS1/2 emulation on PS3?
I had a PS3 Phat, it could run everything, or almost everything. Unfortunately I had lots of NTSC games on PS1, and PAL PS3 couldn't run those. Stupid region lock!
They used one of those for their playstation miniNo idea but it doesn't matter, Sony ain't going to use an open-source garage dev emulator, it's more likely that they'll stomp all this if it would snowball and become popular.
