Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

thats what i call "good" balancing (insanity numbers btw )

For reference on standard all multiplayers are on 1.00x.

90% less stagger is the most unbalanced thing ever.

Finished in about 15 hours. Excellent game, and one of the best in the series. Both Grace and Leon's sections feel really good to play, and all the nostalgia bait for RE fans is a joy to experience.

This definitely feels like a do-over for RE6....Capcom didn't know back then how to make "Extreme Survival Horror" and "Extreme Action Horror" equally compelling, but now they've had several games to experiment and perfect both formulas. In retrospect, reworking the Resident Evil franchise after RE6 may be the best long-term strategic decision made by large video game company in the last 15 years. Think about what we've gotten since that decision: RE7, RE8, and the remakes of RE2/3/4 were all really good games (albeit a brief one in RE3's case), and that built up a lot of confidence in the franchise. Now RE9 gets to capitalize on that confidence and break sales records.

those with the plat, what is the hardest trophy this time?
finishing on insanity, everything else you can get on casual, insanity is only hard if you dont use infinite ammo, if you want to be beyond frustrated play as intended through an unbalanced difficult, also, there is no hard trophy like getting S rank on hardcore difficult or finish the game with less than 14000 steps.

Finished Resi Requiem today. Awesome game but not better than 7 and 8 for me. On par with i would say. I wished the Raccoon City segments reached the high of the opening scene. Visually that was a big letdown.

Yeah, Jill, Chris and the other S.T.A.R.S members had counter zombie training before RE1, been locked on Spencer masion must be a cake walk for them.

Leon too before RE2, Claire a civilian had to deal with zombies everyday in her life before coming to RC.

And lets not forget Rebbeca that also had training in South America to learn how to deal with leech zombies at the age of 18 before RE0.

Poor Grace that worked for the FBI and they dont have anti zombie counter measures program...

If we're talking realism in the first 6 games no one showed any emotion outside of FMV and cutscenes lol. They were like robots running around. Grace and to a degree Ethan are the only ones who act like actual humans in a zombie infested area. REmake 2 did a little with Claire and Leon cursing while shooting, but RE9 is the only one that was realistic in that regard.

The insanity run, even with infinite ammo some bits were not easy.
I'm currently doing insanity without infinite ammo, it get get very challenging but it's still very fun because I have think get through tough encounters with limited resources…..every bullet counts.

this is RE not TLOU, i dont need over the top dramatic realism, i just want good shooting mechanics, puzzles and backtracking.

also, Jill has her PTSD on R3Remake, but since that game is "bad" the over the top dramatization was criticized by everyone, now somehow is a good thing... go figure.

limited resources ?

C'mon, if you said that you need to think about how to get through the bullet sponge enemies without wasting 30 bullets on a couple of zombies i would totally agree, but limited resources ? the simping for this game is getting out of hand.

this is what "limited resources" insanty run looks like guys, with 2 scraps and the amount of blood he has, he can craft 60 more 9mm bullets if he want.

and this is how bullet sponge the enemies are ( time stamped ) he started with 58 bullets, pay attention for the amount of bullets you need to waste on enemies.

You can buy the missing Raccons? Where?
You can buy maps for both the Raccoon City areas and the Care Center, not the statues themselves. If you have the map icons will appear on your in-game map showing you the locations of the ones you don't have yet. You can purchase it from the special content menu or whatever it's called. With the CP points.

Hey guys, how long it will take to get the game for about 35 bucks on steam? One year, a half?
I'm not ready to get the game at full price.

Just finished my playthrough. I enjoyed it but I walked away a tad disappointed as this was probably my most anticipated game of the year.

First half was a 9.5/10. Second half was a 7.5/10.

Unfortunately the part I was most looking forward to, revisiting Raccoon City, was where things stumbled a bit for me.

In the end I think I'm just much more into the claustrophobic, scary, puzzle-focused side of Resident Evil than the hammy, over-the-top, action-focused side of Resident Evil.

Still had a really good time with it, and even the parts I didn't jive with as much were fun. I'd give it somewhere in the 8.0-8.5 range.

I got the plat. Damn good game, but short, light on content, and not much for replayability. I'll probably visit it again every few years.

I still think RE 2 and 4make are better. 4make, especially, is still the bar to clear. Seriously, just have those guys make a new mainline title. I'm tired of them being wasted on remakes.

I did think village of shadows was that difficult, if I'd have known I'd have moaned about it more.

I'll try again later on, I died 5 times with Grace just trying to get into the part where you use the coins.

Good stuff.
I should say village of shadows without any unlockable or OP guns. More fresh save file, like I did insanity.

Finished it. Loved it. I liked it as much as RE4, which I consider a tad overrated. And I stress tad because it's still my 3rd favorite RE game behind 1 and 2(until RE9... still need to think about where I rank it, maybe I'll start an RE ranking thread later). But the reason I didn't love 4 as much as some others is because it went a little heavy on the action for my liking and I prefer my RE games to have enclosed areas not open areas. My favorite areas in this game were all the indoor areas. I felt this game was spent indoors more than RE4 was. And it had some major nostalgia moments that RE4 just didn't have. RE4 probably had the better story but I enjoyed the story in this and I really enjoyed Grace.

So right now I either rank it as 3rd or 4th in the RE series(I'm counting the remakes and originals as one entity).

Won't be replaying it, I've gotten my fill, but loved it. Will be in my top 5 game of the year. Leon was great all the way through.

I don't remember seeing an "Overwhelmingly positive" rating on Steam for a RE game before. Haters maulding.

Edit: I was wrong RE2 Remake. And RE4 had it, currently Very positive.

I hope they include into the rumored expansion or dlc, psvr2 support. Im playing it on ps5 and its beautiful, and im sure it will be more amazing in VR, just like RE Village

It wasn't criticized by everyone, only by those who don't appreciate good things, even if they aren't perfect and a lot of content was cut from the game.

Capcom learned their lesson, clearly, it'll never happen again... Except that 3 games (CV, RE5 and RE6) need to be remade from the ground up and be nothing like they were before. Modern RE1R only needs to be expanded similarly to RE2R. RE0R probably needs to make some changes too to make it fit into the new timeline, story arcs and events.

It'll be smart for then now to focus on RE0R and then RE1R, cuz RE5 was (who knows what they're planning now) all about Chris and we know absolutely nothing about modern version of him cuz it doesn't even exists yet (RE7 and RE8 can fuck right off and don't count), same goes for Wesker and other characters we haven't seen yet. Hopefully they're thinking about remaking the first Revelations as well, which also needs more than a few changes.

Like, at this point it is pretty safe to assume that the main timeline will always be great, they know how important it is and they'll fix all the shit they did wrong with it in the past. But I will argue that Leon and Ada campaigns from the RE6 were great and needs to be remade into a modern RE game (they can slot it in between RE4 and RE9 somewhere) with the main plot reworked with no Chris and others, just Leon and Ada again, similar to RE4.

Oh nice. Shame I gotta replay the game just to grab the remaining 3 :messenger_loudly_crying:.

I mean he is not wrong? What exactly is better about RE9 compared RE7? Maybe the narrative lore? There are surely some interesting idea around Grace gameplay but going further it become too much inconsistent and fragmented in the pacing.

LOL, so the games you like are canon and the one you dont like are not ?

I had an idea you'll love. We could make RE0 a Leon adventure before he joined the RPD. Then the remake of RE1 would be Leon accidentally discovering the Spencer Mansion and solving all the mysteries. In RE3, he goes back to Raccoon City to stop the nuke, save the city, and then become President of the USA. Then we retcon RE4 so that Ashley is Leon's Asian daughter with Ada who got kidnapped by some Spanish guy. After that, RE5 is Leon going to Denmark, because of course killing Black people wouldn't fit Leon's persona. Then in RE6, like you said, we make it all about Leon again. Finally, RE7 and RE8 would be about Leon avenging Ada from the new villain, Chris, who killed her because he's a really, really bad guy.

you are missing the point that ONE time was enough for most ppl to dismiss/criticize as an over dramatic characterization of Jill, but now its "oscar winning performance" to have a 24yo FBI agent that cant talk and/or walk properly, not even with a 8yo child.

Don't remind me. There are people who even defined Grace one of the best character of the series in this thread. Just only her voice performance literally destroys my nerves.

Problem with Jill in RE3R is the personality flip. Rest is fine. And the bigger issue with RE3R is how gutted it is from the original RE3. Which is it's own problem separate from Jill.

I wouldn't consider Grace one of the best in the series. Just one of the best new additions to the IP alongside Victor Gideon.

I am actually agreeing with him lol, that's the whole point of that gif.

Got about halfway though over the weekend. What a game - really exceeding my expectations and already on of the best in the series for me.

Got the speed run (3:00:36) no heals and no blood collector in the same run. I need to make two zombies fight and all other PlayStation trophies are tied to a Insanity Run, might as well give it a go now.

there is only one trophy tied to insanity and it beat the game on insanity
