How is that different from Steam reviews rating a game poorly because they have to create an account?

The game is very good. I've played some of it.
 
It looks fine I suppose, but I'm not in any particular hurry to grab it. It'll be far more attractive at half price eventually.
 
User score review wars should have been fixed a decade ago by companies that allow user reviews. It muddies the waters every single time.

Imagine if people constantly rated most books either 10s or 1s, it would be maddening.

Link it to playtime, or trophies, or something.

Too me i usually don't take user reviews seriously because people review bomb games frequently without buying it and it becomes a shit show. The fact that u have to purchase the game on the ps store gives it more credibility in my view cause you spent your own money on the product and can judge it yourself. Their needs to be a stricter process in terms of user reviews for other sites because how they do it now is a mess.

This is fair, but it's also fair to say that the game hasn't been out long enough and people haven't sat on their experiences long enough to just instantly throw out a 5/5 after purchase.

5/5 is a perfect score. Same as 1/5 being absolutely, unredeemably terrible.

Those words ring hollow when people do this.

I wasn't impressed but if some people who liked what they saw well enough to buy it then nothing wrong with that. I think a rating this soon is premature though, but that's also up to them.
 
I feel like this rating is pretty meaningless in the short term, by the time I was able to pull it up on the Play Store myself not long after the announcement it already had hundreds of five star reviews. What good is that? Let time level it out some and get a better picture.

It's okay. It honestly doesn't "feel" good at all. The movement reminds me of those Disney Genesis games, I feel like I'm playing Jungle Book. The combat also feels fine but not great.

It's also very lite on the Metroidvania stuff so far but I'm sure that gets more and more elaborate.

The stupid RPG lite mechanics from the modern GOW games are here and totally unnecessary.

I think the visuals look pretty good I don't know what people are shitting on there at all.

Also - they could have called this literally anything else. Nothing about this is God of War in any way beyond some very on the fringe trappings. Not in tone, visuals, exploration, none of it. The minimal amount.

I also never care about voice acting, but it's shockingly bad here. It's almost like they didn't hire anyone at all, outside of the main character it just sounds like one of the devs went into the booth and recorded. It stands out to me and I never notice.

This is a cool little surprise, and it's not awful, but I'm not going to tell anyone it's a must buy either.

Maybe i'll make another post in probably two weeks tracking the reviews after everything has settled with the game. I'll compare the rating and reviews from my first screenshot to the second one to see if anything has changed in terms of positive or negative. Wanted to do a day 1 post to see how well it was doing so far.

And how is it any different than Steam bombs or boosts?

Definitely more reliable than those NOT playing it and weaponizing their autism on social media. If people don't like something, they'll make it known in that star system since there are plenty of games with low star ratings (just as Steam).
 
I thought it was a solid B. Konami had several games I'll buy, Saros looked good, and I will buy the God of War trilogy remake. I wasn't sold on the direction of the new Control game, but I wasn't sold surprisingly interested in trying Marathon. I will also buy the Capcom games on PS5 to play on the pro.
