  • A report reveals that the price of the RTX 5090 will increase up to $5000 USD in 2026.
  • This massive increase is due to a memory crisis and the industry's increasing focus on AI.
  • The price increases are expected to happen every month and will affect the entire product line.

I had one opportunity to get a 5090 this year. In the summer I could have sold my Asus TUF 5090 for around $1500 (possibly more), taken advantage of Microcenters buy a CPU get $400 off a 5090, and would have paid around $300. That is when they had a few 5090s for around $2200. I didn't. I just kept my 4090.

Do I regret it? Not really. My 4090 is in it for the long haul.

Pssssshhh and people thought that Sony has to worry about pc gaming. Even if the PS6 goes for a 1000 that's much better than this.

If everyone could predict the market we'd all be rich. If everyone is rich no one is.

Anyway, I bought a 5070ti last week because who knows what's going to happen to existing GPU prices and future gens.

The crash can't come soon enough.

For those in the market for a 70 or 80 class card, the 9070 XT is great. No need to pay the green team tax.
Question is should I upgrade my 7900XT to a 9070XT. I don't like losing the extra VRAM but FSR4 would be nice.....

its ok, pc does not have subsription fees like consoles, you can save alot of money in the long run.

those console users that despise subscription fees, its time to hop in to PC gaming now.

I would unironically rather buy a 5k PC than pay a subscription to use my own internet that I also pay for.

Pc gaming will be far more fucked then consoles gaming in regards to price increases due to ram that's for sure.

The 9070 XT is now around $650, you can get a 5070ti or MSRP or below with rebate ($730 at NewEgg). The extra features with Team Green make the $100 or less difference worth it.

Yeah, I'm just glad Sony and Microsoft managed to make consoles that don't use RAM.

FR though, console manufacturers can just eat the cost (time will tell if they will though), since they're going to get 30% on every sale once the machine is in the house. Nvidia and AMD get nothing once you've purchased the hw

Pricing on the GabeCube will be VERY interesting

Like they could've ate the tarrifs? Not gonna happen.

they cut prices by $100 for the entire holiday season, eating both 'tariffs' + more.

you can actually still get the console + yotei bundle for $499 direct from PS right now

All hardware will get expensive, that includes consoles. Heres hoping it'll only last a few months or something happens. Will see.

How the fuck exactly? RAM is expensive, but not that expensive. What is next $3000 5080? $2500 PS5? That's absolutely nonsense.

I'd expect a price bump, but not nearly that much. Nvidia will discontinue the 5090 and focus on RTX Pro long before it hits those prices.

Sadly because Nvidia thinks they can get away with it. And they probably aren't wrong. The people shopping for the 5090 already don't care about price.

If the ram increases $15/chip, that's an extra $240 in costs just for that. Then throw in TSMC price hikes as well. I think it'll probally be $2499 MSRP (with AIB cards being decently more than that but not 5k)

That's not entirely true. 5090 market penetration is quite a bit lower than the 4090 was at this point in time. Like only one third of the Steam Survey numbers. It's clear that even at that level some customers are balking at the price. $5000 card would just crater sales entirely. Some will be purchased for AI but even 32GB VRAM is increasingly insufficient for serious AI work. I don't see Nvidia increasing the price by that much. A few hundred dollars? Sure. But $5000 is certainly not going to happen. The 5090 will be discontinued before it gets to that level.

I absolutely do agree that it won't come close to $5000.

I sold a 5090 at cost a few months ago. Ended up getting two thanks to a simultaneous Best Buy restock and Nvidia priority access invitation. No way was I going to let one get away from me after months of trying to find one. Here I was thinking that meant they were ezpz to find. Now I see this?

I think FE going up to $2499 seems likely. AIB cards being much higher. Although I do wonder if Nvidia even bothers with FE 5090s any more, stock on that is limited as hell.

In general, how are the founders edition cards these days? I remember when I was looking to build with my first big boy check forever ago people told me to stay away from the reference cards.

Much better than they used to be. Run hotter than most AIB cards but it's not bad. The advantage is that the FE cards are much smaller than AIB models.
