If it were genuinely GOTY it would speak for itself, the steam reviews and universal user impressions would reflect that, but yet here you are defending it instead of playing it. Shame.
You claimed that people weren't generating hype for the game. You've since been shown that was not true (yourself included) and now you want to claim that I'm upset that you were hyped for the game because I've shown you that you were indeed hyped for it?

I don't have a problem with anyone being hyped about a game, and more to the point that's not what this is exchange is about.
You claimed that nobody was hyping the game up. That clearly isn't true, even more so because you yourself were involved in the hype campaign for this game. That is where the problem lies, the disingenuous bullshit.
If you're going to participate in some massive hype train for a game then fucking own it of it happens to run out of fuel and/or spectacularly crash and burn. There's no shame in it.

That was 2023? Holy shit, time flies. I hope that even if it doesn't end up running for GOTY, it deserves a place in Art Direction, Both Ori games are undeniably super beautiful.Not to shit the thread up, but on the theme of Xbox and GOTG contenders:
I’m about to start Ori and the Will of the Wisps on my Switch OLED. A game nobody can deny is worth playing.
Back on Starfield, When it's done being patched and get some more mods, I think it'll end up being a better game than Fallout 4, shame we're gonna need some heavy hitting mods to connect the maps properly.

It is without embellishment one of the best PC games I've played this year from a performance perspective at launch. I still haven't gone back to Star Wars because it's still so poor ( though I'm hopeful with the newest DLSS patch). It might not be the best optimized but it's hardly poor.

Effort doesn't really count unless it's integrated well.
Blend a bunch of mediocre systems together. Is it ambitious because they did so...or did they waste everyone's time and should have made a more "safe and cohesive, well playing" title instead? Definitely the latter for me. They don't get brownie points for effort if the execution isnt there

Why not? Fallout 76 has been tweaked and updated by Bethesda so the current rating for the game reflects that. The game was a mess at launch but with all the updates it has settled at the current steam rating.
At the current state, it seems that Starfield is worst than the current updated Fallout 76 version. So why shouldn't it be rated less than Fallout 76?

Bethesda needs to get crucified for this game. They ruined the appeal that was freaking space.
I would have forgave them, if they made tes6 first. But the fact that they delayed that game to make this, makes it hard for me to forgive them.

Diablo performed better than this, Starfield is more in the realm of BG3 act 3 performance with way more bugs.....ive played 18 hours now and ive counted 30 people floating from their chairs into the sky out of a ship or half their body in the ground or them running into walls continuously - I also got stuck on small debris 5 times.

That 2022 was rough as hell. People didn't like the gameplay and weren't sold that much.
2023 showcase is when the hype went through the roof with that showcase.

So how high you guys reckon the concurrent players count could be on Steam if Starfield wasnt on gamepass? I estimate at least 700k (right now it's >300k on steam).
Now I don't really know if gamepass revenue from this could really compensate for actual sales ($70 per piece) but I personally feel that gamepass really fucks over big games in final revenue department.

It's such a ridiculous conclusion to draw that it makes me wonder if that person is being genuine or simply attempting to spread a narrative. I'm inclined to go with the latter in many cases, but am also aware some people are that heavily invested in the "war" which can blunt their perception and understanding.
