Unfit in what certain ways? Harsh, yes, but that doesn't mean it is necessarily incorrect or wrong. Mostly a product of brokenness
The issue is hiring a young person for a job like that.
Regulator job isnt an easy job, when you are leading experienced people. The last thing you want to do is hire a young person.

Court battle, negotions and going against big techs needs wit and experience. Lina had none of that. Its why she kept losing her battles.

Man, reading the Ninth Circuits very brief and to the point order, It appears the 3 judges read the FTC's appeal submission and effectively gave it the

More like - "go back and read ... " -

It was less than a paragraph - the actual response:

The motion for injunctive relief (Docket Entry No. 21) is denied. See Fed. Trade Comm’n v. Warner Commc’ns Inc., 742 F.2d 1156, 1159-60 (9th Cir. 1984) (defining standard by which the Federal Trade Commission may obtain a preliminary injunction); see also Feldman v. Ariz. Sec’y of State, 843 F.3d 366, 367 (9th Cir. 2016) (discussing standard for an injunction pending appeal).

Welp, I guess congrats to those who wanted this to go through. I leaned more against the deal, but what's done is done by Tuesday it seems.

All we can do is hope consumers do actually benefit from the deal. I'll definitely take advantage of the gamepass games cuz I'm not a sore loser. So I guess that's a start

All the people insisting that the appeal will be granted because Corley said "will have" instead of "may have".

Completely fucking delusional.

Look, I won't pretend to be some legal expert or Mr. Know It All. I started out thinking this deal would be approved, then I switched sides because fuckhead Phil is a bumbling dingus, then I cringed as Jim Ryan and Sony got involved...but ultimately thought the FTC would prevail.

So with that out of the way, I couldn't believe some of the usually smart people on this forum grabbing onto Tweety McExpert's Clayton Act horse shit as if it were some sort of silver bullet.

Show some composure for Christ's sake.

Is it bad that im kind of hoping if this does kick off acquisition stuff, its Amazon that goes on a spending spree and adds it into Prime. At the very least they would keep it 3rd party. Im not a fan of Microsoft or Sony acquiriing any Publisher level
This acquisition bullshit needs to stop but this has opened gaming to the major companies to buy and set up their own streaming service. Can't wait 🙄
Are you in a cave right now"?

Gaming is fked up right now and is in a dire situation. This deal has been distracting people from the awful practices that has been going behind the scenes.
You mean when Microsoft literally threw Bobby Kotick a lifeline after the media were finally zeroing in on the fucker. To quote Hopkins "No worst, there is none", gaming will be worse.

You cant blame them. The guy was served to them on silver plate. He was a nice dish at a right time.

By standard practices shareholders usually get 30% above the stock value, so in an extension beyond the SEC date their current stock value plus 30% is a lot more than the 18month old offer, so he would be defrauding them by that amount
The stock depends on MS. If they walk out, they will lose money. 3b is only beneficial to activision.

Gamers who only buy PlayStation are fucked in the next 10 years when Microsoft buy up all the biggest 3rd party publishers and make them exclusive
You do realize that the only reason this went through is that Microsoft had to offer COD for 3rd Parties?

What Sony and the FTC should have done was stop focusing on COD and start making agreements for other franchises.

People really think the CMA is going to hold this?

They didn't need to consider Microsoft's propose but they did because they got pressured by Microsoft and the UK government.

Part of the reason they went on sale were from MS themselves which is BS btw. Both Sony and MS saying they will re-evaluate their relationship meanwhile MS using it to acquire them. And ya, if there is a consolidation war... either Sony needs to step the F up and spend bare minimum 10+ billion or Amazon, Google or Apple needs to step up and stop MS. If MS wants to compete.... then compete... with the companies that can also spend alot of $. I fear for a future where Amazon, Google and Apple just sit on the sidelines while MS gobbles up publisher after publisher and becomes the de facto gaming entity bending the rest of the industry to their will and forcing a windows like situation. Not from anything of their own merit or because they are actually good at it... but just because they were able to plop down 100+ billion sucking up all the popular 3rd party IP they can get their hands on.

I’m going to play Diablo to a) prematurely celebrate and b) make sure I finish the campaign before next week so I don’t feel like an idiot buying it at launch (I never do that, why, why this time? :messenger_tears_of_joy:)

You do realise that sex offender will be working within Microsoft and will outwit the halfwits at Xbox. Brand Xbox will be run by Epstein Island's finest in 5 years. We already saw apologists in this thread this week as they now realise the fact.

Age has nothing to do with it. Just look up this countries history with big business/tech even within the FTC it had long been a conveyor belt of persons with conflicts of interest.

So, when do you think Phil will make all these games exclusive?
I mean Activision pretty much stopped making everything except COD lol.

CMA is a weird in that they could have just made Xbox sell their 5000 useless servers beforehand if they wanted to block for cloud reasons.

You are talking about these people?

They give no shit to morals.

I don't think the deal is still alive. i think Kotick is taking the money and has refused an extension, and Monday's CMC at the CAT will be to formally withdraw from the appeal process followed by Microsoft announcing they stopped their merger.

Beating the FTC was just bragging rights IMO.

Would be so hilarious if this happened. I don’t see MS traveling to the UK just to pull out of the deal though. Maybe they are continuing to fight to avoid shareholder lawsuit? They do have to try and close regardless of how hopeless it might seem.

First time in a long time I want the weekend to be over with.

You need experiece for this type of job. Same reason as why being a president requires you to be a 40 year old person.
FTC job is engaging all wider issues and that is not a simple task.

How much does it depend on Microsoft? more than $30 per share more without the merger with current CoD and Diablo 4 and Candy crush numbers?
If MS walks out, the stock drops down. Activision will get 3b, but that is not enough for the massive drop.

10$-30$ drop is alot of money for people who have alot of stock.

You also have to remember that Kottick will get 400+m payout from this deal. That is alot of money for him to fk off and never touch anything.
