Warf is so good in this. I love that his character went through some zen-like changes in the years leading up to this.

First episode to finally feel like the show this season's fanboys have been describing. It had a clear theme running throughout, the callbacks felt more like seasoning than distractions from shortcomings elsewhere, Geordi's characterisation made sense as an evolution of his former self, there were some decent jokes, it carried its own momentum reasonably well rather than dragging out a tiny slither of plot, and was enjoyable enough overall that whatever logical quibbles there may have been were easily ignored. Good stuff, though a bit of a shame Moriarty was such a throwaway cameo.

The member berries were way over the top with this one. And it was nonstop contrived nonsense.

Datalalb4loresoong is the security-manifest whatever-AI computer for Daystrom secret Section 31 black ops derp-duh-derp, pop goes the weasel.

And just for good measure Vadic is back. I'm not happy at all with the characterization of these changelings.

The LaForge family drama was just stupid. Makes the Picard family Shakespear by comparison.

Good on Matalas for trying to make some lemonade out of Picard's corpse, though. We'll see where that goes.

So this was the sixth episode right? This is what the Twitter shills were creaming themselves over?

They were being paid. Seems like Mana is still getting paid to shill this crap.

Honestly I think its more that they got to see the entire season in one sitting than one per week. That does change things as one doesn't spend a week contemplating plot when they get everything at once and can take it all in.

Personally I'm enjoying it
and as this may the last round for all of them together and perhaps this period I'm perfectly fine with the callbacks and fanservice as I loved the bits at the museum.

Never thought I'd see the Bounty ever again.

They only got the fist six episodes. The only person who saw the whole thing (three times) was Robert Myer Burnett and that was done under the table since Paramount hates him for his crusade against NuTrek.

How much were you paid to say that?
If I’m suppose to be getting paid, I really wish someone would tell me where I’m suppose to collect the money.

Seriously, this to me is one of the most gorgeous creations ever made:

Seeing it one last time, probably the very last time we’ll ever see it represented on screen (and if I recall the only time a constitution refit has ever been shown in the tv series), just made my eyes water a bit.

This episode was insane, but kind of enjoyable to watch. It felt like a weird fantasy-fulfillment bit of fan fiction, and some things were absolutely bizarre (the Data bits in particular). But it was fun to see everyone and the billion callbacks... even if it isn't exactly intelligent on introspective in the way old TNG was.

Why the hell does Riker have perfect pitch? As I recall, he struggled a bit with the sax, was decent but far from a virtuoso. Here he just casually uses perfect pitch, and it's even weirder as a writing choice since he didn't need it at all to solve the whistling puzzle, relative pitch would have sufficed.

Remains of a destroyed Constitution Class were in the episode Best of Both World's part II in the aftermath of the Battle of Wolf 359.

Ask me about my terrible takes on Star Trek characters
I've been enjoying this season, but I feel like this could have been 1 or 2 episodes so far. It's definitely pretty laid back

Jesus Christ, some of you are such bleak, picky, angry mother fuckers 🤣

This was great. The ‘memberberries are off the charts, but it all works within the context of the show. Is some of it cheesy? Of course… but it’s hanging together perfectly fine, and acting as a great narrative to bring all the TNG crew back together. The museum starbase is an inspired conceit, giving us a chance to see some old favourites. Genuinely thought for a moment they were all going to decamp to the NCC1701A 🤣

Somehow he’s going to bring the Enterprise D back… you just know it.

I believe it was mentioned that the saucer section of Enterprise D was recovered/salvaged from Veridian III and placed into the museum.

If we do see it it'll be either saucer only or paired with another Galaxy class star drive section. Perhaps from an unlucky ship from the Dominion War?

Yeah, that’s right. Definitely coming back then. They can just use the star drive section of one of the many other Galaxy class ships for Frontier Day.

I watched the latest 2 episodes last night...i am still unsure if it'll stick the landing,
(there better be a good explanation why they wanted Picard's body)
but i can't deny im really enjoying it. I never liked Ro that much on TNG, but her return was really done well. How the hell does a series that fucked it up so bad, get so many things right at this point is crazy lol

One of the things this season does well that I think i still like the most is the space battles....it's not bloated CGI garbage. everything feels like a star trek scale again, with cool action moments that are easy to follow. I loved when the shrike was using the portal device to trap the titan. i loved when the titan used an asteroid to throw at the shrike. The shot of the intrepid about to fire on the titan just looked real cool, just touches like that shows it's already run by such more competent people than before.

I'm not sure how I feel about

Data coming back yet again. I feel as though his exit in Nemesis was perfect, but I also understand giving the TNG fans one last hurrah with all of the crew.

And while I am mostly enjoying this, it feels padded. They keep peeling layers off the onion, so the overarching plot - which I am not even quite sure what that precisely is - feels like it's moving along at a glacial pace. The shape shifting villain lady is also terrible at acting.

No, some of us just have standards and don't like seeing our favorite franchise, one that helped define who we were as children and help push us into careers in the natural sciences, being used and abused by retarded writers.

Remember we can’t go home again. What was will never be again. You can enjoy what it is now, but it will never be what it was not this not Star Wars or anything we grew up with.

Are you actually watching this season? Because you don't sound like you are, tbh. I understand it if any long term TNG fans have criticisms of this season, but I just don't understand how anyone who loves TNG can hate it, given the callbacks, the similar story beats, the similar characterisations, the style of action, and the lore (no pun intended) being used. It really is season 8 of The Next Generation, rather than season 3 of Picard. Sure, it has some holdovers from those shitty two prior seasons that it unfortunately can't get away from, but it's so deeply entrenched in TNG's history and style of storytelling that I honestly can't believe any TNG fan could despise it as much as you appear to.

Nonsense. We can absolutely have high quality returns of classic franchises. Mandalorian and Rogue One proved it was possible for Star Wars. Even expansions in Star Trek Online show better care and love for the franchise than this.

If this is the first thing you try and push, you have nothing of value to say.

I rented it on VHS before it was on the BBC. I should have just rented Robot Jox again.
My older brother taped the entire series start to finish when it re-aired in order leading up to the final season, so I got to watch it on the shittiest form of VHS imaginable my first time

It’s so weird to think in 2023 that back then we had VHS versions of a TV show rentable from Blockbuster months before it aired on TV.

Star Trek ended with the series finale of Voyager. Everything else after is fan fiction and none of the movies count (with the exception of the Original Series crew). The Borg were finally defeated by Captain Janeway, a tenuous peace with the Dominion was finally achieved, and we all await the return of Sisko with the answers to the universe.

Are we sure it was actually NX-01 or one of the others that came after Columbia? The top version could be inside the Spacedock.
It’s specially the NX-01 refit design they made for season 5. Matalas worked on the show (he saw the stage doors close for the final time) and included it specifically to make it canon.
