its not worth the price at all, thats the whole point being pointed out here. Not only doesn't it further the genre anywhere new, you have much better for much less money with more complete systems, not to say content

this diablo is pretty much Devilian with a new coat of paint and a hunt for shrines for some Diablo 1 flashbacks. I'm not going the Lost Ark route because obviously that would be stupid, but most of what you could find in Devilian (which was free to play) is fully present in D IV. I'm just curious what even warrants the price of this game. Shit it doesn't even have good itemization.

There's streamlined, and there's whatever they're managing to hook people on with. It's just Diablo in name only

As you can see in the poll and below, you're part of the small percentage of haters who feels the need to keep posting in here. Go play your 5000 passive skill forest game and leave this fun simpler(thankfully!) game to the rest of us. Devilian is another game that feels like trash to play. I'm starting to see a trend of your standards for gameplay. lol

Yeah its as if rpgs and arpgs all share the whole "everything feels good to play when you get to the endgame"

shocking I know, you'll be alright, honestly if the "how it feels" is what you're gonna come back with every time feel free to click on my name and then ignore, I'm not interested

Oh yeah I also forgot the trading which only is about aspects, lol

I think you quoted the wrong person.

I am a bit surprised there are no shields for Barbarians. Doesn't make any sense tbh. Every game had them. An offensive tanky build could have been fun.
Modern Blizz is all about class fantasy and I think a Barb rocking a shield conflicts with that. They want a big hulking rage monster shrugging off blows as they shred everything with reckless abandon.

Agreed. I think it's what will help give the paladin appeal. I can't wait to see him/her and how cool they will look. I absolutely love the character details and especially the armors. Hands down the coolest of any game of it's type. I got my ninja assassin rogue giving me MK vibes. Even the barb has a Shao Khan looking helmet. I'm ready for some Dark Souls looking sword and board archetype. I hope that we don't have to wait too long after launch for the paladin.

Had a blast with the beta. In love with the Rogue but going to give Druid a shot on the next beta then go cry in a corner until retail release.
You and me both brother in regards to crying lol.

Necro looks promising too...but...the druids dismount ability is just fucking nutty dude.

There are many dungeons that feel very Dark Soulsesque and I love it.

It's weird, I had a final playthrough with Rogue a few hours before beta ends and had absolutely terrible luck with items. No legendaries, helms doesnt even pop up until I almost beat Act 1. It's like I used up all my RNGs for my other characters. But even without good items Im surprised Rogue(my last choice) is very fun to play, wish the hits has more weight to it, but definitely better than floaty D3.

Overall it surpassed my expectation. Love the art, sounds and story so far, cant wait for the full game.

It will be interesting to see how they roll out content over the life of this game. We’re in uncharted territory for Diablo.

Personally I’m not expecting major content additions outside of expansions every other year. So I’d put money on getting Paladin/Crusader and another class in 2025.

The new content dump in the first expansion is going to be hype. I just hope we don’t have to wait until then to visit Tristram.

I think it's a nice for a change to not be in Tristram at the start of the game like the last three titles. Also, I've looked up through all the challenges and found the bosses. Leoric is not in this game either. Butcher can show up randomly in any dungeon on the beta. It's good they're not reusing the old bosses anymore as the main act bosses and instead turned them into cool Easter eggs/chanc encounters that have a unique loot table. Butcher can drop a special item, but it's not guaranteed.

Are legendary orange items that easy to find? Sounds like D3 again where getting orange gear isnt hard at all.

Seems each Diablo game makes getting uber items easier and easier. Remember Diablo 1? Playthrough a game and there's hardly any yellow items (the best at the time). And half the time your character couldnt even use it. D2 yellows were more abundant. Diablo 3 the orange items are like candy.

I remember selling SoJ for $$ at school. Those were the days. Straight to 7/11.

Yeah I wouldn’t expect Leoric to return. He’s dead. I won’t be surprised if Tristram is a late/end game hub location. Instead of going East like in Diablo II, we’re headed West in Diablo IV to hunt down Lilith.

Blizz did said Andariel is coming back in a big way so I’m hyped to see her. The artwork they showed at Blizzcon three years ago was sick.

We’ve also seen a glimpse of Duriel in one of the trailers. Not sure if the other lesser evils will return but I wouldn’t be surprised. Obviously the three prime evils will come back at some point, but those guys need to be spread out over multiple expansions. So many possibilities now that the black soulstone is shattered.

Leoric and Butcher have been in all the games, I don't think they truly die. It's an eternal angel vs demon conflict, they can always find ways to put them in. Butcher is in the game, maybe Leoric shows up as well somewhere but not as a main boss.

I can confirm the bosses based on in game challenge Ui - read at your own risk.

Andariel is in the game, Duriel is a boss as well. Final boss is Lilith. My prediction is that she has a backup plan after you "defeat her" because you cannot have a Diablo game without the grand daddy Diablo himself. He is being saved for future expansions. If my memory serves me right Baal is also a boss. I'll have too look at the in game list again this Friday to confirm on Baal.

Haha I saw that too and thought "WTF the UI just spoiled me" :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That's like when the Star Wars Episode 1 soundtrack CD came out before the movie released in theaters and one of the tracks was titled "Qui-Gon's Noble End" or some shit.

It's not really a big spoiler to me personally. Diablo story was never super important. It's a simple concept of Angel's vs Demon's . I think what's more spoilery is what happens in the between and after the you beat last boss. The boss list doesn't surprise me at all.

Now that the beta is over I've spent some time looking at other people's video content about it. If I had more time I would have leveled a sorc too. It seems like that was quite a powerful class. Glass cannons that also face tank? Sign me up!

Was the talking beast/wolf Diablo? It just feels odd how it ha: that type of demonic skull at the intro and then he talks in such a dark voice. In my opinion it’s something from hell that’s also trying to put an end to Lilith.
I didn’t catch it if that part was explained. It felt too early to tell. Ffs I can’t type without making a typo

A few thoughts on level scaling now that the first beta is over -

Generally speaking, I do not like enemies scaling in level with you for most games. It diminishes a sense of progression. One of the inherent characteristics of an RPG, in my opinion, is the character growth, and being able to compare and chart your progress. One-shotting enemies that used to kick your ass feels good. As long as there are enough options for players at all levels to explore, then there shouldn't be a problem.

I understand why they are doing level scaling in this game due to the shared open multiplayer world, but it still feel janky. Sure, it makes it easier to party with your friends who might be different levels than you, but oftentimes you get into a situation where your lower level friend is the one carrying you in the dungeon due to the level scaling benefiting him, and that just feels weird. As it stands, when you level up, you actually get weaker (relatively) because that one skill point you spend is not going to increase your DPS as much as the mobs' health and defense. Unless you are hoarding a bunch of twink gear, but that also diminishes the sense of exploration and discovery for new characters. Basically, the level scaling seems like too much of a concession towards the casual style of gameplay without enough benefits.

That being said, all these problems will theoretically vanish once everyone reaches max level. However, the philosophy that the real game doesn't begin until end-game is stupid to me. I don't like the fundamental nature of that type of game design. It's like saying I need to watch the first 3 seasons of a TV show before it gets good.

I liked how it was in Diablo 2. Act 1, 2, 3, 4, with clear progression levels. Normal, Nightmare, and Hell, for even more levels after that. I also liked what Diablo 3 did conceptually with Inferno difficulty, where all enemies in all acts are max level, because theoretically, you should be too at that point.

WTF? lol

Virtually all the same. Key difference is just the deadend nodes go left or right.
But does it really matter though? Your slashing and cutting your way through hordes of monsters and the only reason you look at the map is to see were you didn't go yet. I never looked a diablo dungeon map in admiration of it's wonderfully randomly designed layout.
It's just there to be there. You go in, kill everything, collect loot and on to the next one.

Yes, it does matter to me. My brain desires some kind of variety.

Once you do the same dungeons for the 10th time it does start to matter. I always admired that in Diablo games, not knowing where the exit is.

Watching the D4 gameplay video's I keep having this feeling of disconnect with the artstyle and the gameplay. The environments are looking so serious and grim, but the enemies, characters, animations and UI are looking a bit cartoony and self-aware. It just doesn't match for me.
Game looks fun to play, though.

It does matter. You notice it subconsciously and it's annoying when you play through the same dungeon hundreds of times.

My biggest disappointment was the lack of adaptive trigger support on PS5.

Such a strange oversight. Would have provided extra ‘crunch’ to, what is already, good combat.

Perhaps it’s an MS / Activision thing, not wanting to provide extra incentive to the Sony version?

I've heard good things about the controller support. I have an Xbox controller for my PC, I should give it a try next weekend but I'm not so sure about inventory management with it

It was very intriguing indeed. It also appears to have a personal story with the horadrim/perhaps a connection. It makes no sense to be one of the good guys so he’s got to be a bad guy. One that wants us to succeed. And at this point it’s interesting to mention that “us succeeding” means Lilith not getting away with whatever she wants to do.

With that in mind and considering the beta reward is a wolf pup a lot of speculation is centered around the wolf being “an old foe” wink wink.

Yeah but i very much liked the other world adventurers helping with public events and stuff... it just feels like destiny to me. Can see others in the overworld but can't follow each other into story/dungeon etc areas. I never got the chance to try at one of the world bosses but i really like the idea. I'm sure a lot of people are going to have a stroke over the changes but i like em.

She's been shown already.

Except it's not.

I suppose not having to manage all these potions and your belt helps a lot with this but in D2 it was a pain in the ass for me so I went with mouse/kb
Yeah D2 is just outdated. I am playing D2 Ressuructed right now on PS5 and the inventory is awful due to the potion belt and the fact that there are only so many slots available.

But D4 and D3 are amazing with controller.

Im not in the beta, but when youre roaming around you have to see other gamers roaming too?

So if there's an area or boss I want to clear out and want to do it alone, I cant avoid other gamers if they join the fight?

Or is there a way to go solo only?

It's different.

Dungeons are instanced so you will never encounter other players there unless you are in the group.

The open world is shared and you will run into other players occasionally. The vast majority of the time you will only encounter other players while in a town or near a grouped event location.

Enjoyed my time playing the beta. I definitely see the quality. However, I do not expect to put in that work to like paragon 100. Though I can see myself easily putting in over 100 hours into this game. Also the game feels mmolike. Though I definitely wish there was a singleplayer only experience and even way of saving progress. Especially since I had to leave mid dungeon at one point and when I came back it made me start my progress over. Which was annoying.

The dungeon maps are randomized, it's just that they aren't randomized very much.
F8r8Okd.png

This they must fix if they want players to stick around for awhile.

That photo array certainly explains why I found myself getting bored as fuck with dungeons after the first few hours. If all the dungeons are like this when it launches, I can’t imagine I’ll want to grind all of them on one character, let alone multiple times, and for end game.
