Are legendary orange items that easy to find? Sounds like D3 again where getting orange gear isnt hard at all.

Seems each Diablo game makes getting uber items easier and easier. Remember Diablo 1? Playthrough a game and there's hardly any yellow items (the best at the time). And half the time your character couldnt even use it. D2 yellows were more abundant. Diablo 3 the orange items are like candy.

This whole "Legendaries are too easy to get now, the game is ez-mode" misconception and misinformation needs to stop. Orange/Legendaries are NOT the best items in Diablo 4 and are NOT the rarest.

Sacred Legendary Items Diablo IV

Sacred Legendaries are more powerful than regular Legendaries. They only drop when a player reaches higher levels.

Ancestral Legendary items

These are the most powerful Legendary items and will replace a player’s Sacred and regular Legendary items when found (although that won’t be often). They drop when a player reaches the highest levels of the game.

Got to level 22 this weekend on a sorc. Started out fire, switched to cold, settled on lightning. Once you hit 20 things start coming together skill synergy-wise. Power jump after getting a couple cool legendaries and then imprinting them on some great rares was great. I quite dig this idea of searching for GG rares, especially considering legendaries won’t be tradeable but rares will be.

I think my impression of the game got better and better as I kept playing, and I can see higher difficulties being really fun with new uniques and whatnot.

This is coming from someone who is current over 1k hours in d2r and took a break from season 3 this weekend to try the d4 beta.

It’s definitely not d2, but it seems MILES better than d3. Almost like what d3 was supposed to be. I came in skeptical and left satisfied that my preorder is worth it. Really looking forward to the final game.

I was having a really good time with this demo and was going to sing it praises. But then I typed /dance and nothing happened. 0/10.

Don't give me the ability to give myself the title "Dirty Dancer" and then not let me do any dirty dancing.

People just need time to learn the systems and adjust. I don’t think there’s ill intent there.

Legendaries drop frequently because affix swapping is a core function. There are stronger versions of legendary items that drop at higher levels and uniques, which are likely rarer than legendaries.

Here are some uniques:

I can help you out - which dungeon is it exactly? I've done them all and leveled a sorc to 25. What is your build? Can you share a screenshot and what exactly your having an issue with? Boss?
You online now? I dunno who's forum name corresponds to the username except for the ones that are the same lol.

Hell has frozen over. Absolutely this. It's fine with the folks who are just sooper-excited to talk about the game (because it is a fucking blast and is going to do gangbuster bidness).

On the other hand, trying to render an actual critique of the difficulty (including scaling and drop rates of items) in an Open Beta of all places. . .especially when folks aren't doing the bare minimum to make sure they actually understand what BLIZZARD actually intends for progression is something else. More when using it as a reason why the game isn't as good as its predecessor.

Lost Archives. I couldn’t beat the boss first time I tried. Second time I couldn’t even beat the big fat guy who was guarding one of the items i need.

My builds never have any rhyme or reason. I am going to copy this one now and try again- https://www.vg247.com/best-diablo-4-beta-sorcerer-build-for-solo-players
This is why you are having difficulties - you can't expect something to work if it does not make sense in 1st place. You have to understand the game mechanics and how the skills are designed to a certain extent to be able to make a good build. Experimentation key, but so is understanding the systems.

Go this -

For Basic skill go Arc Lash 5/5
For Core Skill go Chain Lightning 5/5, Enhanced Chain Lightning and then Destructive Chain Lightning
For Defensives go Flame Shield 1/5
For Conjuration go Hydra 5/5
For Mastery go Blizzard 2/5

This is not perfect and its not really an optimized build, but its what I messed with and finished the beta on World Tier 2 as a Sorc on a regular character (Not Hardcore)

From all reports, this is really an MMO ARPG, not really a single player game. As most of the game is in the end game, and the "fun" is in grinding the end game loot as most MMO does.

Am I correct in my impression, because I just wanted to play an 20-30 hour single player arpg. I don't really have time to sink into an MMO.

diablo was never a 20-30 hour game, even when it was an sp game

Eh I think they should have stuck with uncommon, rare, legendary and maybe unique. Why bother calling them legendary if they're not even legendary? Adding two more tiers above legendary is stupid IMO. The only reason they are doing it is because people want to see flashy things every 5 minutes. Having legendary items drop so easily caters to that mindset and then having higher tiers keeps that addiction going longer. No other reason why...

Here are some uniques:
Which don't even look that unique. Basically the same as what we're already seeing on legendary items.

That is completely not true lol. The reason why they're called Legendary is because its what they've been since Diablo 1 days. It's a staple. It's not that big of a deal,

Also, adding 2 more tiers above legendary makes sense because they are more powerful items and are a lot rarer.

Well I took a Barb to 25... had a couple moments against a couple specific bosses until I found a build with good mobility that seemed to work against anything (lunging/bleed/rupture, w/ leap & ironskin, double dodge item equipped)... then I started a sorc and it all felt pretty easy by comparison. I didn't get to any of the tougher bosses though.

Had a great time. Hoping the combination of skill trees & aspects will provide some decent build options at later levels... was not super encouraged by Barb, at least as far as act 1 feels; if I continued with that class I wonder if it would be really hard to get away from a mobility build based around lunging strike? WW I'm sure must be more effective at higher levels, because it felt useless to even try to use on act 1, to me.

Looking forward to next weekend to jump into Necro & Druid... saving that sweet, beautiful Rogue for when the game is live. Back Friday!

All and all I think D3 had a better beta tbh. Act 1 in D3 was amazing. Regardless, I'm excited for D4 and the changes it brings to the table. Hope it's endgame destroys D3. Also excited to try out Druid next weekend. So far it's Sorc>Rogue>Barb for me.

Just do dungeons, some of them will give you an entire level and only take about 15 minutes
I ended up doing the cemetery just south of Kyovashad where there is an event. I would clear the event, warp back to town and sell the gear and then take my portal back for another event. If the event didn't populate yet then I would just portal back one more time or visit the cave/dungeon just outside the cemetery. Got a nice party buff sometimes when people would come along.

I made it to level 17 before the early beta ended. I will have to try to reach level 20 on the open beta.

I have been doing side dungeons and Act I to level up.

It's the same as it was before. The story while interesting, isn't the main draw of the game. Ladder Resets / Seasons are where the content is, and you just keep running them and optimizing your gear. You can certainly play Story only and then forget about it, but getting a optimal build and pushing harder content is what Diablo is about for me. I played far, far more than 30 hours. Also, it's not really an MMO at all in any way, you can play with up to 3 friends and do some content together or just solo it, but there is no persistent world or other players running around. You can see lobby chat though I guess...

I heard that they were other players running around in your game and you have no way of keeping them out.

It is both. If you want to play it like a traditional ARPG, look around and explore you will get a lot out of it. I played 10~ hours of the beta and didnt complete act 1 story, or reveal all of the first areas map. It also should have a good deal of stuff to do after the campaign is over. It will be the longest Diablo campaign by a large margin. It is at its core an online game, though, and you will see other players in the world with you. They can't follow you into dungeons and what not though.

You can certainly play it as a single player ARPG and enjoy it that way. Diablo 3 was the same. Of course a lot of fans will tell you it's not how it's supposed to be played, that you're missing the point, that the story ending is just the beginning, and so on.

This is how I treated Diablo Immortal. Played through it once, had fun, then moved on to another game.

The battle pass bothers me somewhat and might open the door for more microtransactions. If Blizzard can avoid the Lost Ark and Diablo Immortal syndrome, it looks like a return to form for the company. But it hooks you just the same as any other Diablo, the addiction and withdrawals are real. The cut and paste content in the first main zone for side quests, is a bit of a concern. Feels like it's just lazy padding. I really hope end game and further zones change the formula up a little bit.

People can hate Diablo immortal, but there is a solid game there if not for the microtransactions and pay to win elements. So many currencies.

Anyone else miss the elite monster noise from Diablo 3?

You can definitely still play through the story as a solo player in 20-30hrs or however long the main story is. Dungeons and story missions will be solo unless you choose to party up.

As far as players joining your game world and you cant get them out... there are other players running around the hub cities but you dont have to interact with them. Then you might see an occasional player out in the open world but even during the beta I didnt really see very many people out in the wild unless people were meeting up to do a public event. But you those are totally optional you can just bypass them. And even when I did see someone out in the wild there wasnt much interaction, just ran past each other. Plus like I mentioned, once you get inside a dungeon its your own private instance.

The only thing that would require interaction with other players would be if you wanted to participate in the end game dungeon/loot farming, but thats generally after the story concludes anyway.

The game definitely made a good first impression on me. I didn't spend too much time (about 6 hours) as I wanted to play with my son next weekend. Sorc was really fun.

I hope Blizzard takes the time to read both the positive and negative feedback. Outside the obvious homers and trolls, there seemed to be some really good feedback on the forums. Seems like people like the MMO live game aspects but are concerned that the progression system reminds them a bit too much of the soulless aspects of D3. I could see the game getting old quickly, but who knows if that's after 40 hours or 4000 hours at this point?

Between how much I enjoyed the beta this weekend and how much I've enjoyed Dragonflight since launch, Blizzard definitely appears to be on the upswing for me.

This game will be amazing for me but won't be complete until the first big expansion with the monk and paladin. We need a second fast dex class and a sword and board class. Kind of crazy to see an rpg come out with no shields...

PoE fans are rabbid. Be glad you got your amazing game and be happy with it. Not everyone wants to play a game with 5 excel sheets open. Some people prefer a more streamlined game like d4. Its just much more fun to me.
its not worth the price at all, thats the whole point being pointed out here. Not only doesn't it further the genre anywhere new, you have much better for much less money with more complete systems, not to say content

this diablo is pretty much Devilian with a new coat of paint and a hunt for shrines for some Diablo 1 flashbacks. I'm not going the Lost Ark route because obviously that would be stupid, but most of what you could find in Devilian (which was free to play) is fully present in D IV. I'm just curious what even warrants the price of this game. Shit it doesn't even have good itemization.

There's streamlined, and there's whatever they're managing to hook people on with. It's just Diablo in name only

but are concerned that the progression system

I mean a lot of end game builds rely heavily on paragon but its not just this thing that's concerning, there's also the overworld scaling + overall balancing which is whack but that was to be expected
