Redfall Is Always Online Even In Single-Player, Bethesda Confirms

I still fail to understand why companies would purposely burden themselves with having to maintain a server by forcing online requirements when playing single player modes in games. I mean, I guess on PC it could be used as a form of DRM against piracy, but why is it necessary on consoles? They already got your money for buying the game, so why burden themselves any further?

Always online sucks. Is this the case with many Xbox Series X games or just Redfall?

I was waiting for some more of their AAA games to drop before considering buying one but if all of their games are always online then forget it

I was vocal about this in the GT7 thread and will be here as well. This is fucking stupid. If i want to play a single player game i should not have any requirement for an online connection. I know the argument every always throws out these, "its 2023 if you dont have a stable internet connection blah blah blah" Guess what internet goes out sometimes, additionally like what happend with GT7 if thier servers are fucked you cant play your game (single player) when you want after paying a premium. Utter bullshit.
Its a GAAS game with loot and all that jazz. it can be played single player like Destiny, would you expect that to have an offline mode?

I agree with the GT7 thing though as it has a true single player experience, this as far as im aware does not

Yes its stupid that destiny requires online to play single player. I thought i made my stance pretty clear. If you have no intention of playing online why are you forced into this BS? I completely understand the requirement for multi-player and the requirement that come along with that. I think an easy solution here is to have a single player campaign mode that is completely separate form the inline mode which does not require online. Seems fairly simple to implement and would cause no balance issues to the online component. Everyone has an option at that point.

You can use this website. https://downdetector.com/status/xbox-live/

678 problems were recorded just in the last 24 hours.
"Xbox app not loading games and connection is very bad I contacted FastCybbers on tēlęgråm and he got it fixed for me"
"Xbox problem still persists; asks me to sign in with account that "owns the game" I want to play no matter which game I try. i reach out to Jillcybberz on tēlęgråm and he resolved the issue in no time and am back enjoying my favorite game"

Is that site reliable?

I just find it annoying to have to sign up to play a single game and don’t want to have multiple accounts everywhere. It’s very inconvenient imo.

Only takes a minute or two, I wouldn't let it put me off a game. Just make a crappy email account that you can use for throwaway stuff like that if you don't want to use your main address.

This thing is going to flop. Bethesda.net will be another nail in the coffin. I thought they abandoned that dogshit after it gave away everyone's private information.

No, I honestly don’t remember that. Did it affect every user? I do t remember a time a couldn’t play a game because my internet was down, or Xbox live or ps network were down.
Both have gone down multiple times. Consider yourself lucky that it has not impacted you.

Destiny is not a single player game though. A Separate offline single player mode would be pointless. Im not sure how the online works in this game yet but im sure its integral, otherwise it wouldnt be there, like the rest of arkanes games

we'll see i suppose.

There are other resources, too, if you don't like that site.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
I think it’s safe to say that if you don’t have your console connected online at all times, you might have a bigger issue than Redfall requiring an online connection.
i dont understand why people always use the "what year is it" argument, its stupid.

Why do you need to be always online for a single player in the first place? Why do you want to be offered less option?
Always online has nothing do to with "who does not connect to internet 24 hours".....

Unless you are telling me, for somw reason Redfall required always online to access certain features in SP, which i doubt it.
