The player count on the digital distribution platform Steam recently exceeded 10 million active users, reaching this number for the first time on January 7, 2023. This represents a fairly significant milestone for a platform which has been waning in popularity for decades, PC.

The record was reached as players around the world began settling down to play some of the games which they picked up during the recently held Christmas Sale, a major annual event on Steam. The player count on the platform has been steadily rising, reaching 32 million concurrent users earlier this week. In other words, players who are logged into Steam but not actively playing a game.

According to the tracking website SteamDB, the total concurrent users on Steam reached a record high of 10,016,459 on January 7. This marks the first time that more than 10 million users have been recorded simultaneously playing a game on the platform. The number has continued to rise and is expected to continue increasing over the course of the coming weeks and months, at least based on previously recorded growth patterns.

This means me. Steam is running on background.

I guess I need to work on my free time, and stop getting lazy.

Basically every publisher is now on Steam. Ubisoft and EA returned, and Microsoft is all in. Activision re-launched Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro after testing the waters as Bnet exclusives. If the Microsoft deal goes through, we'll probably see every Activision/Blizzard game there as well. Steam Deck is selling lot hot bread, and haven't even released in many regions.

Yeah and it was awesome. I believe the offer still stands, but you gotta preorder a steam deck first. Better get to it fast.
Ah crap, I can't afford one.
No Sloppy deck for me then

All jokes aside I'm gonna be getting one this year, definitively. I'm not missing our on such a beast of a handheld. And congrats to valve for getting steam this far. I love this platform and the games that are on it

It feels good to own those games, but knowing that you'll never touch them creates a blackhole in my soul :/
The method i use to deal with this is not seeing this library as a backlog.

Rather try to see it as your very own game dungeon, a dungeon you sometimes brave to witness what your hoarding habits once brought to you.
