High on LIfe Steam sales skyrocket alongside PC Game Pass success

I want to play the game soon because I enjoy Rick and Morty, but these numbers are no indicative of the game's quality. People feeling validated saying that the MC score is totally wrong due to the game's boom in popularity should remember how many copies the new Pokemon game sold.

Do you imagine the high owner review scores on Steam (despite the performance issues on PC) were made under duress?

I like games that make me think, with a serious or dark atmosphere. Baldurs Gate, Pillars of Eternity, Dragon Age, City Skylines, Darkwood, Rimworld...that kind of stuff.

Stupid brainless fun is fun sometimes...no doubt. But everything this dude makes is praised as the second coming. Remember the Szechuan sauce disaster? Or all those stupid Rick&Morty memes? Yikes....
I don't know why this dude is worshipped so much among Gen X'ers and redditors but those people want me to avoid anything this man creates because i refuse to associate myself with such people. First season of R&M was cool, i give him that...it was original and something different. But what followed (cult worship, depressive nihilism, hype etc) is just pure idiocracy. From the 30 minutes i could stomach (streamer + Justin Roiland = pure hell) - this game is no different.

Good taste.

Luckily I dodge all that stuff because I'm completely out of touch with trends and things so I just enjoy a small dose every now and again and I'll move on. I'm really enjoying it.

The sales performance and engagement of this game can either be a blessing or a curse in regards to Gamepass, all depending on how much Xbox paid for it.

I finished the game last night.

I give it a solid 7/10.

It's a good game, with a fun story and likable characters and doesn't over stay it's welcome.

The gameplay and combat is fun/serviceable, it's no doom or whatever.

I think my biggest gripes are, some of the combat encounters felt a little tedious, especially some of the smaller more annoying enemies types, that were more irritating to shoot at, rather than fun.

& There is a handful of npcs what just bored me to death with their tone that I didn't find humorous, thankfully those moments were very brief for myself.

& I came across a weird as hell/amusing bug during the end of Nipuleon boss fight, where two appeared at the end.

I can definitely see why the game is resonating with people, I hope they improve the combat in a future sequel though.

Powerslide into melee or vacuum into shotgun work real well or time bubble to slow them down. Or just let a bunch of alien babies chase them. Lots of fun tools.

Time bubble and talking needler gun wiped then off, but earlier encounters prior to that were annoying.
I agree, but it was more the case they would kinda under me and we're annoying to keep track off

Only read this one if you have beat the game :)
Who did you shove up the final guys ass? Switching between the guns and listen to them all cuss me out or plead was absolutely hilarious

I'm not at the end yet. Haven't had tons of time to play outside of weekends. I'll probably finish it this week.

I've posted this on a thread that was locked: this is the power of Tiktok, ladies and gentlemen.

Pentiment is probably the better game of the two, but quite possibly has 1/20 of HOL number of downloads. Maybe less, much less.

People are watching small snipets from the game's dialogue and being attracted to it. Rick and Morty also helps boosting its popularity.
What about the 90% positive rating on Steam? That's pretty indicative that people like this.

I'm surprised so little of you here (and in general) didn't find the constant prattling to be annoying. This is my ONLY gripe with the game.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Even more interesting actually playing the game

If you think Pelta was going to give an actual informed opinion, you came to the wrong neighborhood :messenger_tears_of_joy:

On-topic.

Good to see that despite it's heavy game pass proliferation, High on Life is still in the top 10 paid games in this period as well in different regions.

Currently #7 as of this picture.

That's smart. As an introvert, i basically live online - so avoiding cultural trends isn't easy since most culture nowadays happen on the web. And since culture is an amalgamation of the lowest common denominator, it's often mindblowingly stupid. Case in point: Rick & Morty, TikTok Challenges, this game.
