I get the feeling this IP is never going to be as good as it used to be. The footage of this looks... not that exciting at all. What a shame.

So is THIS just FC6 DLC or is it serving as the interim game like Blood Dragon, Primal, New Dawn was for the mainline series?

Far Cry is in such a weird place right now. Ubi is almost literally throwing stuff to a wall to see what sticks.

I'm a legit BIG fan of Far Cry 2, 3, Primal and bits of 4 and it's so bizarre to see the trajectory of this franchise.

Just remake Far Cry 2 man, how hard can it be? An amazing game that was made two generations too soon, held back by hardware constraints and some remarkably poor gameplay design choices. But the setting and concepts? God-tier. Best of the best.

I don't get it. I seriously don't. Perhaps it's one of those cases that "it's not for you" but the enemies design is boring/bland/repetitive. It was the same thing with Rainbow Six extraction. Are they really that creatively bankrupt?

I really liked 6, but didn't like 5. The amount of weapon customization and variations made it fun to experiment and try different combinations.

This DLC/Expansion looks okay. I might get it depending on the price.

Christ. Ubisoft peddling any old shit these days. I think someone's been playing too much CoD Zombies and wanted those packer-punch guns in there. :D

I just want Primal 2 and Far Cry 2 2.

I also fucking hate the new locations. First it was Los Santos County Montana, then dude what if Just Cause but FPS... They peddle this bullshit about them being isolated locations, but they're not fooling anyone. The Far part of Far Cry is gone.
At least New Dawn tried something.

2 was really good and probably the best overall, but my favorite is still 3. Primal is up there too, totally unexpectedly good.

4 felt like more of 3 but just not as well done and story just shit the bed it felt like... 5... I dropped it pretty quick, went back later when I decided to go through some backlog stuff and it ended up being ok... Just ok. The way they ended the story was pretty epic though and so my impressions improved over time.

6 was... I don't know how to explain it, I hated how skills were tied to outfits, I thought that was just a bad call. I just don't like changing my clothes to fit each situation, I find it annoying. Story was ok and I thought Giancarlo was awesome as a villian but it was hard to be excited about it with the damn outfit skills. Weapons have not really improved since 3, its like the same weapons over and over. Backpacks were ok I guess. It had some fun moments but you couldn't poison people as easily. I just loved in 3 how you could take out outposts without ever really engaging, poison some guys, throw in some bait for animals, watch chaos ensue.

I'm not even sure I care much about another one at this point but maybe they can pull it off. Far cry is one of those series that I've liked for a long time but in their efforts to innovate or keep it fresh it seems like we get a lot of steps back instead of forward.

These are those side-games they do now, where they use parts of the world and engine and usually characters to make a side-game in between games. Sort of DLC, but typically stand-alone; they call this an "Expansion". It's $20.

Today during the Far Cry 6 Expansion Reveal Livestream, Ubisoft announced that Lost Between Worlds, a new expansion* coming to Far Cry 6, will be available on December 6 for $19.99, or as part of the Upgrade Pass, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, as well as Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Players can also subscribe to Ubisoft+ on PC and Amazon Luna**.

In Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds, players will begin a thrilling new chapter of Dani Rojas’ story, set in a fractured version of Yara. Following their exploration of a mysterious meteorite impact site, Dani will discover themselves in a twisted space between worlds accompanied by a noncorporeal lifeform named Fai. Players will need to repair Fai’s broken spacecraft by collecting five lost shards, each increasing Dani’s overall stats for survivability, bringing them one step closer to escape.

To recover the missing shards, players will need to rely on their guerrilla skills to navigate through 15 challenging and intense trials called Rifts, where they must defeat Shardfaces, humanoid and animal crystalline enemies, lurking around every corner. In each distinctive Rift, such as a shattered fortress suspended in the sky and an underwater Esperanza full of deadly traps, players will encounter different dangers and otherworldly obstacles. Players can choose how they approach each Rift and will uncover powerful weapons and tools along the way, and collect energy fragments scattered throughout the area, allowing them to revive and retry a Rift, if necessary. With multiple branching paths, platforming exploration, and intense moment-to-moment action, players will have a unique experience with each run as they master this twisted world. Upon mission completion, players will receive Fai’s powerful gear and will be able to take it back to Yara for an ethereal edge in the ongoing fight against the regime.

That looks utter garbage. They struck utter gold with Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon and just cannot replicate that. Stop doing all this weird villain hallucination shit and whatever this is. If they'd done a proper DLC campaign in Yara again I'd have considered it, but not for this gash.

DId they just coat everything with those crystals and call it new? Lol. Its very hard to get excited about this. The enemies look like the aliens from rainbow six extraction

Primal is my favorite. Extremely underrated, beautiful game too. There are not enough games in that time period tbh. Imagine a true next gen game done right with a high budget set in prehistoric times. And no, Ark sucks and runs like shit.

6 was basically 3's remake in setting. I'd expect FC7 or FC8 to be set in Africa,

So far cry is at this point where they basically created a new IP but to sell it better slapped the far cry franchise name on it...

That's the only explanation I got as to how this game came to be. What the fuck is this even.

Did a fresh install just to test out the auto-save stuttering on the latest Far Cry 6 build with my current system:

Just like Rainbow Six Extraction and Valhalla. There is probably someone at Ubisoft HQ who absolutely loves crystal aliens and is bruteforcing that stuff in every game.

Bland, uninspiring and dead within a week after launch. Such a waste of talent.
