For the book readers, in the next seasons will apper new important and charismatic characters or we’re stuck with these?

Depends. There are many characters they COULD flesh out with arcs if their own, or they could continue to collapse most of the story around Alicent and Rhaenyra.

I suspect the latter unless they intend to go for more than 2 more seasons.

I think they mentioned they want 4 seasons to flesh out the story.

There is a second volume of Fire & Blood that has yet to release. From what I gather, it was already done, but too large for one book (so they split it into two volumes). Would be cool if they released it during the show's seasons and it leads all the way up to the moments of The Mad King taking power or his father and Danny's grandfather Aegon V.

I don't know that the entire targaryen dynasty merits a show, but certainly parts of it outside the Dance do. Though to be honest if they don't want "a bunch of white folks onscreen" then they need to start exploring other parts of the planet away from all the white people parts.

The seven sailings of Corlys, for starters. That guy did some awesome shit barely mentioned in the show, would love to see his travels fleshed out.

lol yep. Did they not see the Night King episode? Arya, a Stark, kills the Night King and shes no Targaryan. Unless the prophecy was about Jon killing Dany which makes no sense since shes not the other worldly threat the prophecy hints at.
I don’t think the prophecy said a Targaryen would kill the Night King. I thought it was just that a Targaryen needed to be a on the throne to unite the kingdoms. Which Jon technically did.

Dragons are such interesting creatures.
I have the feeling that we could see Bran warging into one of them in the end of ASOIAF.

I'm sure it would be a mind blowing piece of writing about what these creatures think and how they feel about the world and men and everything else.

Just like Martin did with the direwolves.

There’s a Yi Ti animated series apparently in production. I’m curious to see how that turns out since it’s so removed from Westeros it would feel like a different world. Although I saw someone suggest you have a Westerosi figure working as a Marco Polo type figure giving us that entry point. Corlys could be a great fit for that.

I'd rather George put 100% of his focus on finishing ASOIAF. After that, then he can work on Fire and Blood part two and more Dunk and Egg stories. ASOIAF should be his number one priority.

I find that House of the Dragon leans more fully into the full fantasy realm, but Game of Thrones was more of a mixed bag of concepts as it worked on many levels

Ok, Joffrey was an asshole even when he was breaking the 4th wall.

Possible HOD spoiler

I met Jack numerous times as he was local. A friend of my mates.

He's an utter gent, even posed for pic with my missus. She blinked when taking it so looks blind.

Geoffrey! What have you done?

Dude is extremely likeable in person. He hates to be recognised as the character, was why he got into stage acting plays. He wrote one I think?

Crazy to think he was the kid in the first Bale Batman. Dude is Irish. He's a method actor.

They pretty much said he could in the final episode didn’t they? Someone asked “what’s Drogon up to?” and he’s like “oh let me check…”

Which dragon is related to Drogon from house of the dragon?

None of them.

Drogon came from one of the three petrified dragon eggs that Daenerys' received as a wedding gift . The dragon eggs came from beyond Asshai in the shadow lands.

Game of Thrones was purposefully toned down to not alienate normies from the harder element of high fantasy and increased the sexual content for the same appeal.

Aksuallyyyyyyyyy in Fire & Blood it is mentioned that 3 eggs get taken and sold to a pentosi merchant by one of King Jaehaerys wayward kids IIRC. May not be the same 3 eggs but seems likely.

I’ve been listening to Fire and Blood and thought that might be the original source of her eggs, but didn’t know if it was just implied or confirmed anywhere…

I don't think it is either. It's probably irrelevant where they came from since dragon patrilineage doesn't seem to be significant in any way (they don't display any powers or differing characteristics other than their scale color and all seem to mature into gargantuan beasts if allowed to live long enough) but it was a nice easter egg (heh heh) in F&B.

That said, I'm sure in 20-30 years if Westeros fever continues we'll get a 15 episode limited series all about the experiences of those eggs.

Wondering if they were the 3 that Daemon was excited about and had put into the hibernator. They would be too young to hatch for war, and dragons also have a "6th sense" like some real life animals to not hatch during dangerous times (weather, etc).

Would be a nice dragon Easter egg. Will have to re-watch the episode and pay attention to the 3 colors.

Ok everyone. Give your opinions honestly. I watched the first episode of HotD and was not impressed. I loved the majority of GoT. The last few seasons were a train wreck of Thrones.

I have VERY limited time for TV. I watch a show at a time and move on.

Without spoilers is this worth watching? Should I prioritize House of the Dragon over other shows?

Or should I skip it and move on to seasons I haven’t seen yet. Things I still need to watch Season 4 of Yellowstone, the final season of Better call Saul, all of sons of anarchy, all of the Wire, all of boardwalk empire, the Americans, Ted lasso season 2.

Def sounds like you need to put Rings of Power and Willow higher on your list....:p

But YES, HotD is pretty awesome IMHO and is well worth your time given the types of shows you seem to enjoy.

House of the Dragon is pretty much on par with GoT season 1, but with more care towards the presentation, and having to reinterpret more given the source.

I'd say give it a shot. It's not that long in comparison to other shows out there that seem to be marathoning things.

Of all those, only Yellowstone, Better Call Saul, and perhaps Ted Lasso are anywhere close. So you should have plenty of time to squeeze HoTD in.
