The Witcher Remake announced by CD Projekt

I would say It's a mostly outsourced project. Besides, they are making 3 new Witcher games, Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, sequel to Cyberpunk and a new IP.

It is indeed outsourced.

Witcher Remake is being made with Fool's Theory. They made an RPG called Seven: The Days Long Gone and also have a bunch of other outsource or collaboration projects. (They helped on Baldur’s Gate III, DLC for Divinity: Original Sin 2, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Outriders, and Gord, and also have a shared RPG project with 11bit Studios called Codename Vitriol.)

IMO, these expansions of franchises into external studios is what brand holders should be doing, as it lets upstart developers get a name on their resume and often expands the series in ways the original canon or development studio can't. And if the game sucks, you forget about it. It's possible for a franchise to lose its freshness if too many cash-in titles get made, but Witcher 1 is a game that is really tough to play if somebody wanted to experience the whole saga so far, and I'd much rather this scenario that some other group is handling it under the supervision of the parent than something like TLoU1 where the in-demand Naughty Dog is taking time to remake its own game which holds up fine and has already been upgraded before. Give the rest of the industry something to do.

A shame they arent doing it themselves. Not a fan of that. They will have to do TW2 at some point right?

Not really. One of his big problems was that it was NOT linear at all and you could easily fuck up the story flow by solving certain things before others.
Well the levels themselves are pretty small and laid out in a mostly linear way. The quest design might offer some opportunities to sequence break or whatever but the world itself might rub up against the sensibilities of a modern audience.

I never actually finished the first game, only 2 and 3. Wonder if they'll update the gameplay or keep the RPG strong elements from the first.

I'm still certain that Netflix Witcher season 3 will be out before Witcher 3 current gen patch.

Glad that the first game will be remade but it'll be so long time until we'll get to play so I'm not going to even think about it.

The previous game by this studio, Seven, is awesome top down stealth RPG.

I expect they will not fuck this up, and in fact might even improve on the original masterpiece.

Will be out before the Witcher 3 next gen patch
about that, I would like to know if the next gen ps5 version of the game actually will be a free update, or will we need to buy a whole new full priced disk? Same question for Cyberpunk 2077. I would prefer to just have the update to ps4 disks since I am flat broke these days.

Haven’t played the original so I’m totally for this. Hopefully they don’t change the story any, from what I heard it’s a pretty good story.

Curious if they will try to add Gwent card game into it somehow.
I’m curious if the sex card game is in

It will be a update like Cyberpunk

Makes more sense to remake 1 and then 2 than try a 4, where they'll be in uncharted territory for plot.. two dated games, modernize UI, maybe expand map and quests...

As a huge big time witcher fan since the first game, my only concern is twofold:
1. Will they ruin the feel of the game.

2. will they tone down or "make it for the woke/resetera crowd" . The original had sex cards and conquests.
The new era of game devs and journalist hate anything to do with straight guys getting laid so they will probably mess this up to appease those people.

I remember having to order the British collectors edition as the uSA version was censored. That was back in 2007, I can't imagine now.
Times have changed for the worse.
Hoping the game is still awesome and not toned down like i fear it will be.

Enhanced collectors box was awesome and was same cost as original usa box. 5 dvd discs, map, story books, custom adventures , strat guide, soundtrack, making video, and short story.

Alright, listen. I know that this will basically go against everything that I've been recently saying about game remakes... but The Witcher 1 is REALLY rough around the edges, okay?

This is a good thing. The Witcher 2 and 3 are still perfectly playable and modern-like, but the first game is a diamond hidden under a thick crust of dried up shiet. I'm really hoping that they're gonna modernize everything that was janky about the original and everyone will be able to finally experience this wonderful game properly.

I’m curious if the sex card game is in
"male gaze ....reeeeeeeeeee..." Calling it now. The wokista cult of jorunalists and resetera types will be in an uproar. It better all be intact or no buy. Not that i need it, but principles. Don't change things to go with the "times" .

I like this. I played Witcher 3 and loved it. Never was able to try Witcher 1 and 2. I don't want it to detract from development on 4 though

It seems the industry has become creatively bankrupt. All these remakes/remasters (remakesters?) and still no Motorstorm remakester collection....sigh.

Here they go again, announcing games way too early. You would have thought they learned from Cyberpunk. Let’s hope it isn’t an absolute train wreck on release.

I despise w1&2 Gameplay, Tried to get used to it but it didn't satisfied me at all , The Gameplay looked awkward like dragon age 2 "the bad dragon age" , at least make it like 3 , I'm fine with it.

Anouncing a Witcher Remake while we are waiting for the Next Gen (in the mean time Current Gen) patch for two years now, is exactly my kind of humor!

Very cool. I’ll be there. I tried to play the original after Witcher 2 was announced, but I just couldn’t get into that gameplay. It was garbage. I hope it takes the combat from its sequels.

The first game sucked to be honest, although i'm sure they will be changing up a lot of the mechanics and stuff.

If ever there was a game that deserved it. I was really looking forward to the 360 remake they originally wanted to do all those years ago.

So fucking sick and tired of it bro. Honestly.

Well shit, hopefully they guy holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy remakes of niche 15 y/o PC games gets bored and just lets you go.

Good idea. I couldn't stand the gameplay so I pretty much started with the sequel but I know there is really good stuff in the first one.
