Mass Effect Legendary Edition Changes - Original vs. Remastered

Did the ending of M3 ever get addressed?
I never played 3 due to the controversy.

Something about all the choices in both 1 and 2 never amounting to anything in M3?

Sorry details are vague as it’s been so long.
same with me. i put a lot of effort into making all the right choices and saving EVERYONE in ME2. To hear that it was all pointless was heartbreaking.

60fps VS 20. Your choice I guess.

20fps is way more cinematic!

I'm just completing (platinum) mass effect 3 in legendary edition on PS5 and i can say this is the best remaster ever made in my opinion. Tons of work was put into this and this not like EA i know 🤣

Not just the work. But throwing in all the DLC (minus that one from ME1), which just never goes on sale was incredibly generous of them.

And although I didn't agree with the lighting changes in Eden Prime on ME1 at first, it has grown on me, plus all the other QoL improvements to ME1, can't go without it now.

I really only played 1. The changes sounds like they made it a lot easier. Is that the case?

Yeah this not like typical EA mondus operandi at all...

I played ME previously on PC and 360 and getting dlcs was annoying as fuck (BioWare points lol).

And graphics with 4k, 60fps, much better textures and AO looks quite amazing, even better than some 8 gen games IMO.

haven't played but in my head its one of those remasters that aren't better than just playing the originals. Much like Return to Arkham or the Ezio trilogy....because from reading reviews and looking at footage/screenshots the lighting and art were changed and dont evoke the spirit of the source material. I could be wrong but thats my impressions. Like yeah the 1997 remasters of Star Wars look better. But maybe i dont want a cgi dewback and would prefer if they didn't banish the original cuts to the shadow realm. newer aint always better

Not easier per say, but it brought a lot of QoL and game play improvements from the second and third one, generally ME1 is kind of wonky if you revisit it today, they improved a lot of things like being able to skip the lengthy elevators in the citadel, better cooldowns, a sprint that actually works unlike the original game where it just changes the camera angle but still you run at the same speed, inventory etc.

It's just a lot more streamline and pleasant way to replay the original game.

I played and finshed all the mass effect games when they originally came out and feel I enjoyed the remasters more. The 60fps and 4k graphics are amazing, especially on an LED with HDR.

ME3 ending spoiler:

I was gutted over the ME3 ending when I first played too, but the remastered version (although not ideal) I believe does let you save shep and all crew of you get a high enough military strength score by making all the right choices through ME 1-3.

Well I decided now to buy the PS3 Trilogy because it is the superior version.
They fucked the lightning up in the Remaster.
I already have it on 360 but my ME2 disc is pretty scratched so I buy it again just in case.

Im in ME3 in the Legendary collection and almost finished, after playing through 1 and 2 also. The lighting in these games have been great, and overall a fantastic collection. Not sure what youre smoking lol

personally, i found it more infuriating than heartbreaking. as in, 'wtf, you over-ambitious, over-promising bastards?!'...

This trilogy remaster is probably one of the best remasters in gaming history ..
You screwed up friend. If you want to play the originals the PC is better in every way. And if you want to play on console the Legendary Edition is still the way to go despite some minor changes.
The only "superior" thing it has going is that it has Multiplayer.

Not sure this warranted a thread bump just to let everyone know you're getting a worse version of the game.

No. They fucked up the lightning in the game. Eden Prime looks completely different.

Saren Cutscene they removed the redness which represented his anger connected to the Souvereign.

There was a reason the original developer used specific lightning in the game, the Remaster removes that and makes everything bright.
That's why I am going to buy the true version as from the original developers intended: PS3

Yes, they fixed everything. Now the choices and consequences are so meaningful that you will experience the sheer weight of existential dread after completing the trilogy and your life will never be the same again.

The red light is still there, it's just not visible in that specific frame because it's pulsating (like it did in the original).

If that's all it takes to trick you into thinking that the old PS3 version is somehow better than the remaster then listen, I got these dick enlargement pills right here that work like magic. Just PayPal me some money and they're all yours...

Finished 1 & 2 with platinum, this sudden thread bump reminds me of finishing ME3 (and playing it for the first time).
Yeah I only need 2 trophies for the platinum in me1. I blazed through it when it released last year then I got distracted by.... Oxenfree? That can't be right. That's the next game I played though.

There are some changes (mostly on eden prime in me1) but overall LE looks much better.

Got platinum in ME3 yesterday ❤️

This is real Monty Python level comedy. Really. I was in real tears at the amount of top quality humour in this post…..

Thats the only criticism available you got against LE. That is it. A 15 minute map vs 100hours of everything else being remastered properly. Go ahead and play the shitty version crybaby.

Just finished it and after all the fuss of removing Miranda's buttshot in Mass Effect 2 they left in the one in Mass Effect 3

Game didn’t even originally come out on ps3 so how would that be the definitive edition?

I skimmed through videos of the PS4 version and there is a lot of changes in tone and lightning.

Sorry I don't have the time to post hundreds of pictures here to show the difference...
I rather play the version how the ORIGINAL developers intended it. 360/PS3 has the real atmosphere and lightning.

It's like if they would Remaster Silent Hill 3 and it would look like this:

That's the same that happened in the PS4 Remaster.

Game didn’t even originally come out on ps3 so how would that be the definitive edition?

I already have it on Xbox...
But the PS3 Version looks like the Xbox Version, they did not change the visuals, the lightning etc

Then why not play that version since I believe it runs better?

Xeaker Xeaker for all of these people quoting you and making fun of you for what you're posting, you should go back to the Demon's Souls PS5 |OT| and dig up their constant nitpicks about how the music, lighting, art, and colors weren't 1:1 pixel perfect with the original.

Call them out and double down. This would be the perfect time to do it.

Are these games worth playing? I purchased the original trilogy bundle on Xbox 360 but never played them. They are back compat on Series and I have the original 1 and 2 on Steam, and 3 I think with EA desktop. I have the remaster on Series X with gamepass and also own the remaster on PC with Amazon Prime via EA Desktop.

Still have not played any of them. Not sure if I should play the originals or the remaster... and also not sure which platform to play on; Series X or on my PC (i7 8700k + RTX 3060)....

Both PC and series x versions will play similar probably, native 4k 60fps. Xbox also have 120fps 1440p mode.

In terms of which version... Legendary all the way, there are some negative changes in this edition but there is also ton of stuff that is improved over the originals.

Is it worth it? Of course, on of the best trilogy of games ever made.

I am biased but the Mass Effect Trilogy is one of the best stories in gaming.

Play the remasters. The gameplay changes they did to ME1 and the visual upgrades make them far better feeling to play.

Abso-fucking-lutely worth playing.

i can't wait to re-visit these games. i never got around to playing 3, but when i do it will be on the legendary version. above in the comments, i was pissed about Eden's Prime coloring being changed, but it seems like that was only a simple frame rather than really how it looks? i'm glad these remasters are getting mostly positive feedback, rather than total shyt, like the Silent Hills.

There. Fixed it for you. No need to pretend there is any other reason.

I gave reasons. They changed the lightning and atmosphere.
(Original vs PS4)
A few minor lighting changes in very specific locations don't outweigh the gameplay improvements, higher resolution and much higher and stable framerate. The PS3 version of these games are the worst possible versions and the only reason you bought it is because you found it for cheap and we all know it.

I got around to playing this finally since I got it for my birthday last week. There are several glitches that have come up I don’t remember ever happening in ME1 on 360, but still overall it’s one of my favorite games of all time. 2007 was truly a blessed year.

My guess is that he desperately wants to stand out by being a contrarian lol.

I played the PS3 version and it's just horrible. If one really wants to revisit the original version, then at least go for the PC version with some fan patches/mods. Idk why would anyone want to play a version with shitty, unstable framerate that frequently dips to unplayable levels, has horrible aliasing and awful texture streaming issues, and it's just the most miserable way to play this game. That's some industrial-strength dumbassery right there.

Either that or he's just trolling.

Wanting to play it is one thing, sometimes it's fun to revisit old versions of games. Claiming it's the superior version, now that's one hell of a statement to make.

It's not about being "better" but being true to the original, the way the original developer wanted it to look like.

It's not specific, the whole game looks different in lightning and tone.
