LTTP: Strangers of Paradise

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
aka Jack's game.

Took some time to get into this one, since it sucked ass on PC on release, but it's better now.

Loving this game. Presentation is a bit jank sometimes, like some places being too dark or too bright, or the enemies blending a bit with the environment.

Small complaint tho, as every other thing here is awesome. The story is weird, but I think it's fine for a game like this: not a lot of exposition getting in the way of the gameplay while still having enough mistery to keep you interested.

Gameplay is the tits, just pure fun. I might sound like a simple man, but I love games which combat uses all the buttons on the gamepad. Breaking an enemies defense and soul bursting the fuck out of them never gets old. Same goes for the job system, switching jobs while in combat is a great idea and unlocking new ones is quite fun too.

And the music is amazing too! Specially the boss fights.

Jack is an amazing character too, the kind you don't see too often. Loved this exchange between him and a boss:

- (after talking some evil shit) For I am...
- I don't give a fuck who you are! (proceeds to punch the boss)

So yeah overall quite happy with this game, specially after they patched the PC version with DLSS support making it run much better.

Was going to post this on the "what are you playing" thread, but decided to create this one instead since I guess a lot of people must have missed on this one, and I think it deserves more attention.

Don't be fooled by the jank, for the gameplay here is solid, challenging and above all, very fun.

To this day i still have no idea what this game is all about, even after seeing so much gameplay and opinions...

You mean the story? I'm 10 hours in and still not sure either. :lollipop_downcast_sweat:

If you are talkikg about the game itself, it's basically Nioh with a few changes when it comes to combat.

Everyone is sleeping on this game. Its one of the best of the year. The combat is truly phenomenal and the story gets better. So many jobs and abilities. Really solid bosses. It's a legit top tier action game. OST by Mizuta from SQEX too.

The story really picks up near the end. Thats why no one can talk about it really. Its very interesting though and Jack just gets cooler and cooler.

No, the whole game.

It's one of those rare case where i can watch a lot of gameplay and still not being sure if i like what to see...

Think of it as a soulslike combat but with more complexity, mechanics and overall better.

You get two types of parries, you can switch between two jobs you have equipped out of a lot of them, and those jobs can change the way Jack controls just like when switching weapons on a Monster Hunter game, as you get new combos and skills with each job.

It's complicated. If the demo is still available I'd avise anyone to give it a try. I think the demo had the first bossfight, which is perfect because by that point you should know if you love or hate the game.

EGS exclusive is the only thing stopping me getting this game for now.

Next year it is when we get a Steam release and an option to buy keys from third party stores.

Story is absolute poo poo.

Gameplay is good though, especially as you get some interesting weapons/moves/good boss fights.

It’s fun but it’s supposed to be a game with good replay and after I beat every level and the alternates I just don’t won’t to play anymore.

It's a awesome game. Really opens up in the later chapters. The snippets at the start of the levels don't make sense while reading them. It's only later you realize they're all connected.
I don't know if it was the developer's intention, but I walked away feeling this game connects all Final Fantasy games together. Combat is fantastic and the soundtrack is God-tier.

Doesn't this game have coop? Anyone know if it's just straight up main game w/ coop?

That would definitely make me want to play it.

Yes, it does. Some missions toward the end of the main story make you play them solo for story purposes, but after that you can play co-op again. After you beat the game you unlock chaos difficulty and can do all those co-op as well

I never played it but I think it's similar to Nioh. You can jump into basically any stage co-op. Not sure how user friendly it is. In Nioh I did it a ton with just random groups to help.

I bought it on PS5 but haven’t played more than a couple hours. Waiting on final DLC to come out cuz they have been patching the performance and such.

How is the Chaos difficulty? is it just higher damage numbers and health pools? Or do enemies get new attacks?

I think he's further than I am on endgame, but I haven't seen a ton of new attacks. They might be a little more aggressive, but not sure. The biggest thing is the stats for sure. The grind for gear becomes much more important, top gear becomes harder to find, and you can actually start spending on equipment customization a bit. With the damage being so much higher, there's just way less room for mistakes.

Coop is probably most fun at that difficulty level because of that though. Then the DLC has Bahamut difficulty above that with another grind for Dragon Treasure. You're definitely meant to repeatedly do runs on the high difficulty levels.

Oh, cool! Specially the part about having to be more mindful of your loadout. Up until now I have been pressing SELECT to let the game autoequip the best gear, but wouldn't mind having to dive a bit more into that.

Did anyone play Trial of the Dragon King dlc expansion? I'd be interested to know about it. Bahamut difficulty sounds savage, apparently you have to grind artifacts to even play it?

Grabbed it on PC and am dissappointed by max settings being on par with the Series S.

Enjoying the gameplay. Best combat I have experienced in a Final Fantasy title. I am blown away by Lancer and Marksman jobs in particular. I am kind of lost with using Pilgrim job. It seems really bad, but I am probably not using it right.
