Whats your favorites Nostalgic movies from early 90s to the early 2000s

I think the 4k anniversary edition from 2018 is the right one. I think you hit the nail on the head. Starship troopers uses practical models for moments where the actors interact with the bugs. You never get the clean green screen effect that comes with modern films. The ships sequences are my favorite part. All of the battleships are actually scale models with the effects of combat added on top.
Oh, snap, I just looked it up on Amazon and they're coming out with a steelbook 25th anniversary edition this November! I know what I'm asking for for Christmas!

The movie truly has it all: laughs, romance, drama, satire, space battles, friendship, an undercurrent of the bug attack probably being a false flag event, large scale bug battles, a hero's journey narrative, hyperviolence...OP WATCH IT. EVEN IF YOU'VE SEEN IT WATCH IT AGAIN

Love Starship Troopers

Also false flag? What do you mean?

There's no definitive proof the attack on Buenos Aires was actually a bug attack. The psychic at the end even confirms they are afraid of humans. Its up to the viewer to determine if humanity launched the war on a false premise.

Yeah, I always preferred the interpretation that various governments and such on Earth were secretly behind making the war continue even if it meant secretly doing such a horrible act and such, or at least claiming that the asteroid was due to the bugs when it was actually just an asteroid. Makes for a more interesting conflict than just another “humans vs. evil aliens” story.

Top of my head: the ring, good burger, idiocracy, mean girls

I guess idiocracy released in 2006, not 2004 like i thought, but it it's still good

Pulp fiction
Reservoir dogs
True Romance
What About Bob
About a boy
Man on Fire
Goodfellow
Casino
Gladiator
Signs

I know I'm going to get hate for this but I hate Pulp Fiction. Consider it Tarantino worst along with The Hateful Eight

What about Bob is a great comedy

About A Boy is another great one

Man On Fire is 🔥

Goodfellas and Casino are great flicks

Gladiator is a great flick

Signs was fun but it had a really stupid aspect to it

A Knight’s Tale
Starship Troopers
Small Soldiers
Terminator 2
Jurassic Park
Ace Ventura
George of The Jungle
The Mummy
Blade
Underworld
The Matrix
The Lord of The Rings
Small Soldiers sure was an odd one. But damn was it entertaining and well cast. It managed to make the toy commandos downright frightening.

A lesser known movie from the 90's is The Game (1997), an another gem from David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac, ...) and by far my favorite movie with Michael Douglas.
I am a bigger fan of his role in 1985's Jewel of the Nile.

Yeah I was a teenager when I watched Can't Hardly Wait. I would watch it multiple times. I had a huge thing for Jennifer Love Hewitt

As for Neverending Story I need to rewatch it, it's been so long since I last saw it

I watched it with my son earlier this year and again recently he loved it (he is 6). I think it was even better than I remembered TBH.

Starship Troopers might be my favorite movie of all time, so let's start there.

Wimbledon Wimbledon you're talking about finding good movies out of thousands across an entire decade. What kind of movies do you like? Might help people narrow it down for ya
Thrillers, psychological, mystery films that sort of thing.

Like im a big fan of Oldboy, the wailing type movies. Also my friend was recommending me Jacobs ladder so I'm going to watch that pretty soon, he said that was good.

You mentioned oldboy, so have you watched the whole "Vengeance trilogy"? Three movies by the oldboy director, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Oldboy, and Lady Vengeance are the three. They're not direct sequels to each other or anything but they all follow plots about--you guessed it--vengeance, and they're all good

Oldboy is one of my all-time favorites, too, so I think you're going to like the other two if you watch them. I'm glad I got to alert you to their existence!

I'm trying to find older movies to watch that could be interesting. Does anyone have any movies they'd like to recommend?
I can’t personally call any nostalgia from the 90s, as an 80s baby (81) Goonies is my jam. I was always into exploring and treasure hunting. It dropped in ‘85, and you have probably seen it, but if not, that’s my suggestion lol

I've never heard of this film will take a look. :messenger_horns:
Are you serious? Or are you hitting me with the sarcasm? Lol. I have seriously never met anyone in my life who hasn’t seen it, but I’m also from the states and haven’t been out of country since my Dad was in the military in the mid 80s (stationed in Sardinia, Italy). But if serious, I think you will enjoy it. It’s a fun ride.

Yea sometimes I get blinded to the fact that I’m about to turn 41 lol. So please don’t take any offense to me being surprised that you have never heard of it. I’m still living my childhood and teenage years as much as I can before my time runs out 😊

I'll name one I will bet you have never seen.

Jacobs Ladder.

It's a horror, it's very unique, and in my humble opinion, it's pretty terrifying. The 'car chase' scene still fucks with my head to this day, so creepy.
Great movie it was surprising to see Macaulay Culken and George Constanza in it

Snatch (2000) will always be a movie I boot up at least once or twice a year.

Great film I used to watch this film alot when I was a teen

Me and my kids watch Heavyweights every summer, they love it. Agreed on the Sandler and Farley movies, my kids love them too.

Too many to count - most are comedy films like Dumb & Dumber or The Mask. A lot of Jim Carrey stuff. I also really liked the first 2 Toy Story films. Original Jurrasic Park of course. Man... the 90s had way better films imo.

I thought it was that it was a bug attack but they purposely let it go through to get in to the war similar to Pearl Harbor.
