During the company’s first half earnings call on Wednesday, CD Projekt president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński said the game is “on track” to release during the fourth quarter of 2022.

He also said the company expects its new Witcher saga, which was announced in March, to consist of “more than one game”.

The new-gen edition of Witcher 3 will include DLC items inspired by the Netflix series.

It will be released as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and as a free update for players who already own the game on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

On the one hand, doubtful they can finish it in just 4 months.

On the other hand, they are likely rushing to actually finish it for Christmas since they are going to be selling the game for current Gen. Wonder if they will pull a TLOUPI and ask for 70 bucks.

Announced in September 2020. Initially supposed to release late 2021. I sure hope they deliver.

From what I can gather we should be getting ray tracing (hopefully more than shadows), better textures, better lighting, improved facial animations and character models, as well as some QoL changes and minor DLCs.

Doubt this next-gen version will be better than what we have on PC. But let's see.

Super hyped for future Witcher games though!
Modden W3 on PC looks amazing, that's for sure but isn't this next-gen version gonna support RT?
Now imagine all the existing mods on the next-gen version.

I don't normally like studios doing only one thing....but I really think CDPR should just make Witcher games from now on..

Is it "on track" in the same way that CP2077 was ready to be released in 2020 and was running "surprisingly well" on last-gen consoles?

It’s not a fully fledged games though lol

Just a patch, shit I know I know it’s still taking them ages but it has to cone out at one point right?

I don't know how it can not be disappointing at this point though. It SHOULD be a proper next-gen version of the game at this point, but I really don't think it will be.

"late 2022"

Are they aware there's only 3 other months left in 2022? You'd think they'd have a street date locked in by now if it's on track.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Do we know what are they adding for this "next-gen" revision?

Games remastering and re-releasing concurrently with their shows must drive a huge amount of sales, everyone's doing it. Much prefer this strategy over movie adaptations of the old times.

They've taken so long with this one, I'm not quite sure what to expect, especially with just "next gen" language. If it's just PC parity on consoles with, say, ray-tracing I don't think it'll be enough for their core audience. The game needs a substantial mechanics overhaul in my opinion, but at that point, why not just go for the next title?

Oh yeah. However they did say that the upgrade will include upgraded graphics (likely just higher resolution textures), ray-tracing (likely just shadows) and reduced load times.

I play on PS5 so with those upgrades and 60 FPS it’s good enough for me.

Still annoyed as I could have played what is likely better than the next-gen patch which is the PC game with mods.

I started playing it on PS5 (for the first time) and really started getting into it, but when I realized enemies animate at like 15 fps when they’re more than 10 metres away I decided I’ll just wait because this is to good of a game to always be irritated by stuff like that through the whole playthrough.

Alright i have read that link, where is the source though? it seems this article was written as some sort of old news, because CDPR said this line around June when the game was supposed to be delayed indefinitely and then a week after CDPR issued a statement that its still on track for Q4.
I have no idea why that article was written now, perhaps i missed some new statement from CDPR? Because i dont recall them saying anything about Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade since like 2 months ago.

Cant you still do that?

Saber was doing the original next gen patch, then CDPR cancelled it due to the war with Russia (fuck Putin) and brought the patch for them to make it in-house

If they threw out all the work made by Saber due to legal reasons (probably), then they are fucked. No way they are going to release a good patch until the end of the year.

If they do release it, it's gonna be a simple 4K/60 fps at PC high settings.

I'm expecting the worst outcome.

Brb "we need to restore some amount of people's faith in us, so we better get this patch out this year"

If this isn't done right though, it's probably going to piss a lot more people off.

I've been a staunch supporter of CDPR, but Cyberpunk patches are still being released without proper regression testing.

There are key perks not working since the next-gen patch, the one in which the perks were specifically reworked, so I'd wait and see.

We're reaching a critical point in capitalism and most companies are just doing whatever they gotta do to stay afloat and that includes lying to their investors and customers. I'd stop hanging on every word they say: they leave broken perks in the game while promising a new police system and vehicle combat on future patches.

I'll believe it when I'm able to play it now.

uses 'M$' - What year is it? Not 2002.

Maybe dont Buy a game that is broken and support developers that put out quality games that is how capitalism works

When everyone is at 70% capacity trying to function at 120% efficiency, there are no options. This spree of buggy products is not exclusive to games and it's not going away...

When they're taking this long it's better be improved assets, geometry, textures, has RT and DSR and FSR2.

Doubt this next-gen version will be better than what we have on PC. But let's see.
The next gen version uses the new RED engine from Cyberpunk, with the same raytracing options and upscaling technologies.
Even if they're not revamping the textures and geometry, it should look better.

Can you give me source on that engine upgrade from RED 3 to 4? I don't recall CDPR ever saying this.
They for sure confirmed raytracing that might suggest move to CP2077 engine, but I don't think they explicitly confirmed porting W3 to CP2077 engine.

They didn't confirm explicitly afaik, but I don't know why they would retrofit Red3 with raytracing instead of just moving to Red4.

They didn't scrap all the work Saber Has done:

“We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” CDPR wrote on Twitter Wednesday. “We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.”

And I'm definitely not expecting just a simple upres, 60 FPS and PC settings on consoles. Then what would be the point of "next gen update" on PC when we already have 4K, 8K, 60 FPS, 120 FPS, ultra settings, you name it.

Besides, during the last month's anniversary streams they did reiterate what we're getting - Ray tracing, improved lighting, facial animations and so on.
