Phil Spencer finally reveals his video game playtime

https://gamerant.com/xbox-boss-phil-spencer-how-many-hours-playing-every-week-reveal/

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has built up a reputation over the past eight years as an executive looking out for gamers. He wants to be known as a gamer working for gamers, even choosing to retain his "P3" Xbox username as a social media handle over a more sanitized and professional title. Recently, the Xbox boss shared how much time he spends playing games, and his answer may surprise some fans.

Spencer recently had an interview with Bloomberg Studio 1.0, during which he answered a question regarding his gaming habits. Talking about his gaming habits, the Xbox boss responded that he goes to bed early, so he only manages to play around 15 hours a week. That's around two hours a day, or one hour a day on weekdays with longer sessions on the weekend.

For an executive at a major company like Microsoft, 15 hours a week is a relatively healthy amount of time spent playing games. It's easy to imagine some executives having unhealthy work-life balances to the point that playing any games would be out of reach. Of course, Spencer could be getting those 15 hours of gaming in while at work as he experiences his studios' projects for himself, but he's seemingly referring to gaming on his personal time. Since he mentions going to bed early, he's probably thinking he'd play more if he stayed up later.

Considering this isn't including games he plays on the job to give approvals, check progress, or stay in the know, 15 hours personal time outside that is above average, because he may be really playing 40 hours a week or more if you combine the two.

I'm really glad Phil was able to share the story with us, now those who accused him of faking or being tricky about being a gamer, & how he games has finally been debunked.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Dude is in his mid 50s, has a wife and two kids, and probably a pretty stressful job.

As someone in a similar place in life, I can say that 15 hours per day week is actually quite a bit.

He should kick his developers their asses so they release some great games.

Where are the exclusives from their bought studios?

Phil Spencer'a güveniyorum.

why the hell do you post in Turkish? lol

Phil Spencer has certainly done a lot of good things since he became the Xbox boss. Even the Xbox One era wasn't a bit good in terms of games. Thus, the person would rule the period. But Microsoft will release many games such as Starfield, Hellblade 2, indiana jones, fable in this new generation. Microsoft may be as successful in the Xbox 360 generation as this new generation. Don Mattrick was very unsuccessful and visionless. I trust Phil Spencer.

Rather than visionless I would say Xbox One introduced features too early. In hindsight everything Xbox One did is actually we have right now. From voice commands to digital and transmedia IPs. It is just that Xbox One should have more core gaminng reveal and more power. But the vision was 100% correct. Even that jab about sharing games that Playstation did - who still shares the disks like that these days? Most of the people are digital.

It is. If he has like 5 hours per night of free time during the week, that means he spends half his time with his wife and kids, and the other half gaming. Then probably does other non-gaming related stuff on the weekend like a normal person not addicted to gaming. Sounds about right.

I bet this doesn't beat Jim Ryan's time spent weekly with his cats. But it probably beats Ryan's lifetime total of gaming.

I think Regginator had like 200+ hours in Dragon Quest 9. I don't even know who is running Nintendo right now lol.

A guy named Doug Bowser.

Don Mattrick was very unsuccessful and visionless. I trust Phil Spencer.

As much as people want to pretend Don was the Don of the sink Xbox mafia, he was successful with his involvement for the last 3rd of the 360's life, and honestly, I bet no on was expecting that to backfire when the Xbox One came around.

It’s not like you can’t save the game. Games are a good deal for the money. You don’t have to beat a game in one weekend. Autosaves and handhelds are also making gaming easier and easier. Play a AAA over your lunch break.

I'd be surprised is Xbox Series sells 360 numbers. But I agree about Mattrick. He got it wrong.

His daughters are at college tho and don't need / want as much dad time anymore. (at least one, not sure about both)
So it's not like little children you have to care for all the time.

My kids are both in their 20s. It's true that they don't need as much time and attention as they did when they were toddlers, but it's still a non-zero amount of effort required to stay involved in their lives.

They bought them, and just cancelled every project obviously.

Not really thread worthy

Especially 2023 will be the year of xbox. Because there will be games like Forza Motorspot, Starfield. But it's also a fact! Microsoft hasn't released any decent games in these two years. But in 2023, Microsoft will make up for it with xbox games. But Sony has released good games in 2 years. I'm especially looking forward to Gow Ragnarok on my PS4 console. But I think Microsoft will make players happy with its games from 2023 onwards.

You got a problem with spending time with cats?
Edit - Based on your profile pic…no you don’t is the answer, carry on ❤️

Jesus Christ. What console demands you to be connected online or needs to check if you are online to work once every 24 hours? Plus Kinect included and mandatory.

That man was a joke lmao
