With that said with games like TLoU Pt1 and God of War Ragnarok about to release he probably chose to do the scalping himself.

With the way PR cycles works, they'll get a bad one now and an extra good one in the future when they drop the price. To me this is an indication that they predict they won't have ample stock for some time still.

Hey MS, here's your free-of-charge price cut, now you're not pushed to cut the pricing for XSX or XSS to be more competitive.

Financially wise speaking smart move, business wise speaking not so sure in the mid-long term, but for their potential future customers well this just sucks.

This really caught me off guard especially because pricing for GPUs is more and more cheaper as each week passes, also unless I'm missing something, their supply chain are not suffering the same shortage of components as they did a year ago, so this makes no sense. Also, I thought they were making so much money they would should be in a good position to get hit by inflation.

Is there any other reason behind this? SW not being so profitable?

I‘m actually more surprised by how expensive the PS4 still is – even the Slim. You‘d think after nine years you‘d be able to buy one for 150 bucks or so, but if anything they got more expensive since the launch of the PS5.

Seriously, the prices are ridiculous. On Amazon right now you can a buy a refurbished PS4 Slim for 430$. Wtf? That‘s more than the PS4‘s launch price back in 2013!

It could also mean they have a lot of stock coming and don't want to take losses on that.

It's probably isn't going up, maybe it isn't going down as fast as they wanted. They just think they can get away with raising it a bit, just like the got always with the raise to $70. What is strange is the timing, why not do it 2 years ago? I think it has to do with the lower profits that they had recently, maybe Sony isn't ok with that.
